I used a Gorebyss in Emerald once, just to try it out. You really have to go out of your way to get it. And it's just OK at best. I had to have it set up Rain Dance every time so it wasn't so slow. And there are barely any major trainers left where its matchup is good. You can frick up Drake with Ice Beam, I guess.
Everyone says Lumineon and Finneon are forgettable to the point where they aren't actually that forgettable anymore. I'd argue random babies like Chingling and Mantyke are more forgettable.
>Lumineon and Finneon
And I also always forget that these two exist.
I remember using one in my first run of Silver as a kid because you can get one pretty early. If you catch a Scyther, you're pretty much guaranteed to get a Sun Stone anyway, and even a ten-year old isn't going to waste it on fricking Sunflora.
Actually, Sunflora's a better example in general. It's so fricking bad that you can even tell it's worthless in the campaign.
Pretty sure you can get evolution stones from those trainers that call you

I got an evo stone only a single time from a trainer, and even then they didn't call me until i was mid-kanto.

Yeah you have to game it but you can get stones while stuck in Johto

I always got the impression the "intended" way to get the stones was to just trade your pokemon back to gen 1 and evolve them there, since the alternative isn't really intuitive.
I had a shiny bellossom as a kid and it being my first shiny made it my favorite team member. Still hate GameFreak for changing its shiny to no longer have the same blue color as nonshiny oddish/gloom
Huntail is actually a favorite of mine so I've gone out of my way to use it a few times. It and Gorebyss could really use some evolutions or regional variants though
Purugly is only obtainable in the main story in Pearl, Shining Pearl, and PLA. A normal type with poor distribution whilst also being a version exclusive, average stats, and a late evolution level is unlikely to have seen much use.
>i breed one and used it in platinum.
I hate that they felt the need to exclude random Pokemon in the 'definitive' versions of games, it's blatantly greedy. Cool to hear that you used this cat though.
Everyone says Lumineon and Finneon are forgettable to the point where they aren't actually that forgettable anymore. I'd argue random babies like Chingling and Mantyke are more forgettable.
Ok you baited me, here's your response.
Gorebyss is one of my top 3 favorites. Giving it Shell Smash was icing on the cake
I used one in my last Emerald run, he's really cool actually. STAB Strength and Hyper Beam on high-Attack Normal types is very based. More consistent than having to deal with Slaking, but less burst damage.
i think this is one of the coolest mons in the whole series, but it just dawned on me the other day nobody really cares about him 🙁 no surprise since he's a SFMA
gen 1 lickitung. Either you go out of your way to trade a better pokemon for it, or you wait until you're at Mewtwo's doorstep. All for something less useful than the Raticate you could have gotten an hour into the game.
i was only recently made aware of thievul's existence due to me never played swsh and never seeing anyone talk about it, so that one i guess
besides that... how many people actually bothered grinding honey trees in dpp so they could get a munchlax in the story?
It's crazy how far out of your way you need to go to get one of these.
>have to wait until after the 7th gym >you are guaranteed to have a water type at this point >you have to trade evolve it >all for a mediocre water type that isn't anywhere near worth the effort
>neither of you mentioned that to get the item required to evolve Clampearl you need to do a sidequest.
and? those aren't finite resources, you act like Juan and Wallace couldn't find those items
I don't think you understood what he was saying
he's mentioning yet ANOTHER reason why they were so unknown to most players: to even evolve them people needed to have finished the sidequest
he's not saying that npcs would have had to complete the sidequest
I don't think you're understanding what I meant, I said why don't Wallace and or Juan use these two Pokémon and they spouted some bullshit about sidequests which has nothing to do with what I said
>Only appears at victory road, the literal end of the game, and underlevelled at that >Shit stats and movepool compared to literally any other fire type you can get >SLOW FRAIL MIXED ATTACKER >BW2 comes over and then makes it postgame only
i feel sorry for this thing
You have a myriad of Water type options before getting to a mono-water type with a painfully mediocre stats, and an uninteresting movepool yet this frick is nearly in every single game.
I firmly believe anyone who says they've used this piece of shit is a liar
used it in HGSS
used in Sapphire
I have never used this mon and never seen anyone using it, this might be the most forgettable gen 4 Pokemon too.
used in PLA
Purugly is only obtainable in the main story in Pearl, Shining Pearl, and PLA. A normal type with poor distribution whilst also being a version exclusive, average stats, and a late evolution level is unlikely to have seen much use.
Fishing rod pokemon get shafted in general I feel. You have to go out of your way to get basically any of them except for Magikarp, Goldeen, or Tentacool, and none of them are as good as Magikarp anyway so who cares?
>Huntail
Looks dumb. >Gorebyss
Shell Smash SpA sweeper. But it's pointless and redundant cause the games are so easy you don't need a sweeper with a stat boost move to just sweep the entire thing.
who even likes fish pokemon
I think the only fishmon I've ever used was lanturn
if I'm using a watermon I'd prefer something with legs. there are dozens of good ones.
no friends thread

>Hard to get Pokemon that turns out useless.
Why are they keep doing this?
Gorebyss is the highest SPA Swift Swim'mer outside of Omastar which is unobtainable, and has Baton Pass
And Shell Smash as of Gen 5 if you bother to level Clamperl high enough before evolving.
these two shitmons biggest problem is that a clamperl holding its evo items are way better.
I used Bellossom in my very first run of Soul Silver. Try again.
What else was I supposed to use? Jumpluff?
I always go for Sunflora
i just dont use grass in johto unless i pick chick. same thing with hoeinn, only good fire is chick.
>Jumpluff?
Is quite good as a support pokemon...
>Jumpluff
I always forget that it and its evolution line exists.
>Lumineon and Finneon
And I also always forget that these two exist.

7 year old me wasted it on a sunflora 😐
>chikorita
>oddish
>bellsprout
Gen 2 had so many good grass types.
you didnt even get a leaf stone until kanto, so even those are horrible.
No one cares about gold and silver when crystal exists.
the problem was not rectified in crystal
Pretty sure you can get evolution stones from those trainers that call you

Why do you come here if you don't play the games?
why do you?
>avoids the question
>no u
Autistic esl you will never be white.
Coward
brownoid post
>oh no I can't use my giga form until later!
anyway I got my leaf stone from an npc before going to Kanto
Everyone has used Bellossom at some point
The first waifumon.
>Jynx
>Hypno
>Dragonair
>Butterfree
Where are all the female hypnos anon
where are you hiding them
Using it in Soul Silver rn
Is it good?
I had a shiny bellossom as a kid and it being my first shiny made it my favorite team member. Still hate GameFreak for changing its shiny to no longer have the same blue color as nonshiny oddish/gloom
does she have boobs
Huntail is actually a favorite of mine so I've gone out of my way to use it a few times. It and Gorebyss could really use some evolutions or regional variants though
Purugly is only obtainable in the main story in Pearl, Shining Pearl, and PLA. A normal type with poor distribution whilst also being a version exclusive, average stats, and a late evolution level is unlikely to have seen much use.
It's not that bad. It's super fast and has a workable attack stat
i breed one and used it in platinum. she good
>i breed one and used it in platinum.
I hate that they felt the need to exclude random Pokemon in the 'definitive' versions of games, it's blatantly greedy. Cool to hear that you used this cat though.
Game distribution is shit, but the cat itself is a solid mon. I’m sure enough people saw Mars’ kick their ass to want to get one of their own
Used it in PLA
I used huntail in alpha sapphire. Replaced my swampert with it
I have never used this mon and never seen anyone using it, this might be the most forgettable gen 4 Pokemon too.
She's pretty decent in doubles.
No it's not
Cherubi is fine, but having to set weather every single battle gets annoying real fricking fast in singleplayer.
>this might be the most forgettable gen 4
Lumineon and Fineon beat it out
Everyone says Lumineon and Finneon are forgettable to the point where they aren't actually that forgettable anymore. I'd argue random babies like Chingling and Mantyke are more forgettable.
The fact that its ability raises its PHYSICAL attack and SPECIAL defense triggers me
Durant on BW? Not a bad pokemon per see by I've never heard of anyone using it.
durants only use is removing slakings ability in double battles, lel
Wrong.
Always liked its design so I tried it in OmegaRuby.
Ok you baited me, here's your response.

We found him. The only Gorebyss user in the universe.
Used it in Omega Ruby so Swampert didn't need to use Surf. It's based, gets Boomburst with a Heart Scale
i think this is one of the coolest mons in the whole series, but it just dawned on me the other day nobody really cares about him 🙁
no surprise since he's a SFMA
>Evolve through trade
>No NPC trainer use them
Why did GF made them so dirty?
>two unique water types
>two water specialists in the same game
>neither of them use gorebyss or huntail
gen 1 lickitung. Either you go out of your way to trade a better pokemon for it, or you wait until you're at Mewtwo's doorstep. All for something less useful than the Raticate you could have gotten an hour into the game.
Guess again.
i was only recently made aware of thievul's existence due to me never played swsh and never seeing anyone talk about it, so that one i guess
besides that... how many people actually bothered grinding honey trees in dpp so they could get a munchlax in the story?
betcha feel like stupid rn
also, as for an answer? probably wo-chien or dondozo, both being lategame mons for scarlet and violet.
It's crazy how far out of your way you need to go to get one of these.
>have to wait until after the 7th gym

I really wanted to like heatmor but the devs made it so hard
kinda weird that they put a sugi design so late in the game
I caught one my first gen v game as a kid because I loved anteaters
still do even though it's not a great design.
I wish it had fur
I love heatmor but I have no fricking idea what game freak were thinking. He's terrible in every aspect except design
Its head is a cat's penis
I used one of these in my first playthrough of Y on release. I was pissed off to find out that it was basically just Phione 2.0.
You have a myriad of Water type options before getting to a mono-water type with a painfully mediocre stats, and an uninteresting movepool yet this frick is nearly in every single game.
and by the time you could get it in RBY, you could simply catch a Staryu instead.
They gave this motherfricker Lightning Rod and it doesn't even matter
used it in GS and XY
used it in HGSS
used in Sapphire
used in PLA
used in PLA
used in GSC and HGSS
It's only claim to fame is that it learns waterfall by level up, so if you beat the gym and have one you don't have to go pick up the HM in G/S/C.
Fishing rod pokemon get shafted in general I feel. You have to go out of your way to get basically any of them except for Magikarp, Goldeen, or Tentacool, and none of them are as good as Magikarp anyway so who cares?
I used one in sapphire. I was too moronic to find HM surf as a kid so my friend gave me a huntail with surf and I used it all the time.
>tfw computer illiterate tard when RS launched
>surely Clampearl will evolve!
>my first E4 clear featured a lvl 100 Swampert and lvl 99 Clampearl
I firmly believe anyone who says they've used this piece of shit is a liar
I have several times. Lickitung and Lickilicky are awesome and bulky.
and made for human men
I did use Gorebyss once but I'm never touching that shitmon ever again.
anything with a design this cool is absolutely inapplicable in this thread. I used this. I love this. it's one of my favorite mons
best gen v mon
Rip smash pass
I wanted to finally use a Relicanth in Gen 3 but he's just so bad compared to Whiscash.
Either of these guys
i actually used an escavalier on my first BW team
>Huntail
Looks dumb.
>Gorebyss
Shell Smash SpA sweeper. But it's pointless and redundant cause the games are so easy you don't need a sweeper with a stat boost move to just sweep the entire thing.
who even likes fish pokemon
I think the only fishmon I've ever used was lanturn

I have but they are a bit underwhelming. Gorebyss is better tho for the special attack in a gen where the split was not done yet
These felt like route filler and rather unappealing ones at that. I'd imagine anyone that tried them quickly boxed them.
Volbeat is at least mildly remarkable in its ability to learn Tail Glow, but it's still worthless for any kind of playthrough.
used Illumise in a double battles nuzlocke recently and it was surprisingly useful.
