Most of my Mons are Gen 3-5 transferred up with the Battle Ready Symbol. No one suspects me, in fact most people just think I’m a nostalgia gay who’s has the same Mons forever (in some cases yes, but in others no)

Until they do a hard reboot, I doubt it'll ever really change. They would need to do a hard separation between next-gen and past-gen in Gen 10 or 11, disallow bank/home mons moving forward, and redo their save file structure. (And not let their next console get blown the frick open like the 3DS/Switch.)
With how obvious it's getting, as well as TPC/Nintendo making efforts to curtail it (ie: more stringent CFW checks and banning switches) I would expect a Switch2/GenX to have more robust checks in place.

Balltism in breeding didn't exist until Gen6. If you want a fancy ball for a Gen 5 or earlier, you gotta catch it wild. And mons from that era in the wild have only specific encounters that are possible; Gen 3 especially, as PID determines most stats.

The problem isn’t universal gimmicks, they did a season without Dynamax last gen and it actually made the meta more centralized. The problem is no Pokemon can realistically cover every Tera type of mons you might want to counter with it so anti meta doesn’t work well.
They need a gimmick that just affects shitmons, anything with <500 BST. Then you might see some interest.

There's a difference between "this is the best mon in the format, so I'm going to use it" and "this Pokemon is so good that I am actively decreasing my chances of winning by not using it". Flutter Mane is in the former camp, Kangaskhan in 2014 was the latter (although even then you could still make good teams with other megas and enough resources committed to making Kangaa non-factor, which is why I don't consider it broken).
In an ideal world, gimmickmons would be competing with legendaries and you'd have to consider what to bring. The game would be infinitely better with a pool of 20 meta picks instead of the same core 4-6 we see now.

Pretty sure COVID did a number on the program. But it was very neat, because you're there just to teach "real" English, by just being yourself and speaking. You didn't even need to be an English major or even know Japanese, though I picked it up in my time there.
