Gets boring quick. The items are usually pretty boring, rare items are too rare, there's too many wild encounters so you're spamming attack 80% of the time. The main campaign mode should be half as long. It's way too stingy with the egg vouchers, it can take hours to get a single legendary. Not sure why they applied degenerate drop rates to a single play fan game.
I assume it has to do with balance

Cut the classic mode in half and add permanent unlockables to the item selections and/or some kind of shop for said passives/egg moves
Also something tells me the dev is going to have the classic fan game dev melty and blow up the whole thing if it's true they're trying to rebalance for PVP
could be amateur design, I've seen a really grindy pokemon fangame mmo so I never doubt that.
do stat changes persist between wild battles?
It's fun, but it definitely starts feeling heavily rigged against the player after a while. It seems to use seeded RNG for either the player AND enemy, or just the enemy, and sometimes you'll have attacks with 100 accuracy miss multiple times in a row against enemies with no buffs/debuffs.
I like the idea of catching multiple copies of a pokemon to give yourself options for natures and such, but it feels like you can only really catch pokemon either super early-game or super endgame, because during mid and late game you're basically one-tapping everything you come across and healing is too costly to afford whittling everything down to catch it.
Oh and the egg vouchers are way too fricking rare.
Yes, they do. If you can set up properly you can sweep until you hit a trainer battle or boss.
Played this once, never got past the second Rival fight. Call it sour grapes, but I can't imagine the Pokemon battle system evolves itself in a way that's incredibly interesting.
Also holy shit that voucher bullshit is cancerous. Just let a man use his favorite mon, you're a fricking browser fangame not an actual F2P game you fricking autist.

beat it on my second run, hatched my eggs, and got fricking miraidon as a starter
now there's no point in playing because miraidon just one shots literally everything up to and including the final boss
