I rather enjoyed Inclement Emerald. Its probably the best of the myriad of 'enhancement' or 'difficulty' hacks there is. I found it pretty similar in difficulty to Unbound's expert setting - probably a little harder.
I'm playing Viva La Vega right now, it's like Vega but with all the fun mons available and the bosses aren't utter horseshit.
Quarantine Crystal is very good, love the sprite art and fakemon designs. Only has a 9 gym demo but it's worth a playthrough regardless.
Doubles Emerald 386 is a fun twist on Emerald. Had a reeally cool team with lots of synergy when I played, makes me wish more games had doubles.
Also Clover is a must play, one of the greatest hacks and one of my favorite games in general

Even if you don't like the humor, it's all original mons, an original story, good music, and it was made by people who are autistic enough about pokemon to actually balance the game well. It's would be head and shoulders better than most even if npcs just said "Im gay" when you talked to them.
