It's good. A lot darker and a lot more fluff text. I hope you like acronyms, because it's got a ton.
I prefer Snatcher though.
Saturn version is the way to go.
It's not as good as Snatchers as it is more of a visual novel than an adventure, but all the rest is as good.
It is a great game. Think Snatcher, except you point and click instead of selecting options with a menu. Both are fantastic games, but I think enjoyed Snatcher a bit more. If you liked Snatcher, definetly check it out.
Like this anon said, go with the Saturn version as it is the most feature complete. If you can read Japanese, the PC-98 version is also worth checking out as it is the only version to feature the original pixel art.
God Policenauts sucks! It's like a really bad Visual Novel. And I don't know, seriously, VN are like the easiest thing in the world to design. So when you design a bad one, that is remarkable.
Like the entire story of Policenaughts is not only a pixel hunt, but you basically have to try everything, and then try everything multiple times. So if you don't know this, like if you want to know about some photograph, you ask about the photograph, and she tells you something, and then you have to ask the same topic again. So that photograph entry can occur 3 or 4 times. And then you have to start from the beginning and try them all again because the third time might have opened something new up. And you have to exhaust every single option. ALL OF THEM. Before the game will let you move on. That is HORRIBLE.
It's not like an oldschool adventure game. Because in an adventure game you don't have to look at and inspect everything on the screen multiple times. You're just sitting there, desperately wanting to move on with the plot, and then you're stuck trying to inspect every little thing over and over again, and asking people the same questions over and over again. Ah it's bad. And when it finally gets exciting, it gets exciting for 20 seconds then you're right back at it.
Is the plot interesting? Not really. You know what the story is? It is 5% Blade Runner, 95% Lethal Weapon. It's straight up Riggs and Murtaugh. It's not even subtle. He rips off whole scenes. It's amazing.
>It's not like an oldschool adventure game. Because in an adventure game you don't have to look at and inspect everything on the screen multiple times.
Lmao, good joke. Try playing a Sierra game.
>replying to stale copypasta
It’s worth a play. However, it is not as good as Snatcher.
I played the Sega CD version of Snatcher on my Wii for 240p output a few years ago, and I loved it. I'm planning to start Policenauts sometime in the coming months. I think Snatcher will be hard to beat for the voice acting and music alone.
Snatcher's better but it does a lot of things well, worth checking out. Don't mind the copypasta lol, if ripping off movies bothers you, you probably shouldn't be playing Kojimbo games at all.
Snatcher is better but Policenauts is definitely worth playing.
I prefer's Snatcher's plot, but Policenauts is much better paced game and has a stronger antagonist. Act 3 in Snatcher is just a series of infodumps that only exists to make up for the fact that the PC-8801 ends on a cliffhangar meant to set up a sequel that never got made.
Nah, the original just has an open ending, CD version however ends when Gillian is about to fly to Moscow, so the 3rd act leads to pretty much nothing and overall is just a poor translation of the second half of SD Snatcher
>Nah, the original just has an open ending,
Precisely because the project was split into two games and there was supposed to be a Snatcher 2 made immediately after the first one, but Konami canceled it because they took too long to finish the first game. SD Snatcher is much closer to how it was supposed to be than the CD console ports.
It's like Snatcher, except it's not Blade Runner, but what if Lethal Weapon was a high-budget anime OVA from the late 80s/early 90s. In space.
It's not as good of a game as Snatcher, but it has more flair. Probably the best thing Kojima has ever done on a pure presentation standpoint.
soundtrack is killer too
>doo doo doo doodoodoo
It's a doo-doo
I actually fell asleep playing it during one part. It's really really fucking boring at times.
