I watched the Superman 64 commercial in 1999 with cherrypicked scenes and ran out to buy the game.
AMA
did you notice it was a bad game or did you just play it because you were a kid?
also not retro but I'm surprised they haven't pumped out an arkham/spiderman type of superman game.
How's that one Genesis Superman game with the good music that nobody talks about?
Supposedly, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League was supposed to be a Superman game at one point (hence Metropolis, Brainiac being the villain, etc)
what a shitload of frick
As Lex Luthor once said..."WRONG!"
The Death And Return Of Superman is a prime example of a very good Superman game.
>The Death And Return Of Superman is a prime example of a very good Superman game.
what anon above said.
that said. i don't remember any other supes game that got great reviews.except for that DC fightan game that is not /vr/.
Just because you didn't like that game, doesn't make it bad nor does it make me wrong. For example I hate Final Fantasy games, it doesn't mean those games are bad nor does it make people wrong for finding enjoyment in those games. Bottom line is that The Death And Return Of Superman is the correct way to make a Superman game, a side-scrolling Streets Of Rage style beat 'em up with the ability to use Superman's powers such as flight & heat vision.
Wasn't the arcade game at least decent?
Yeah, it was. So was Death & Return. OP is being a gaylord once again.
>Found it once in a Fuddruckers as a kid
>MFW I now can't even find a Fuddruckers
Kemco made some pretty bizarre design decisions in this game.
If only they were able to get the license...
according to Chrontendo Kemco had to get permission from First Star Software who then owned the Superman vidya license for North America, but this was likely not true as it would have only applied to Superman computer games not console ones.
Wait so there's an early prototype that's actually a Superman game. So they started making a Superman game without even knowing if they could get the license?

It was outsourced to a company called EIM. One glance at a playthrough on YouTube shows it would have been mediocre.
There's nothing wrong with Superman Returns, it's just not a must own.
Superman on Atari is pretty cash.
yeah it's pretty fun
also at the time I was starved for games you could actually "beat"
the death of superman was good, and superman: shadow of apokolips and superman returns werent bad, they werent great but they certainly werent bad, just okay i'd say, returns was kinda shit at the end, i much prefer the campaign of apokolips, that shit was fun, and i think the mechanic in returns where you lose if the city takes too much damage was interesting too
Sure, But I'd rather play VCS Spider-man.
Taitos Superman in the arcades is the Witches breasts >

>there hasn't been a good superman game since 1988
Man of steel more like man of no games
There hasn't been a Superman game since the mediocre 2006 360 game, which makes me think they just gave up for whatever reason, like they think the property is just cursed. Shame, because cape vidya can be good with right devs now.
that is really quite too bad considering Superman had the first licensed video game in history
NES Superman soundtrack had some absolute bangers
