It's amazing, just hope OP didn't make it look pretentious. Story-wise, it walks on a very thin line between pretentious and absolute kino, and in my humble opinion it absolutely nails is.
Don't read about it, don't google it, don't expect some insanely deep thoughts, just play it if you enjoy a good puzzle and see where it takes you. It's particularly lovely when you go in blind.
Yes. The Talos Principle is one of the best puzzle games of all time. It's up there on the same level as Myst, Riven, Obduction, Baba Is You, Antichamber, Return of the Obra Dinn, etc.
And the best part about Talos is that it feels like it's a believable universe, because it offers very good backstories/lore(that you can also just skip, if you don't like) and has a overall good story too. If you end up liking the game, the DLC is also very good.
Just finished the demo to Talos 2. Did the game run poorly for anyone else? Constant frame drops, even when set to lower framerates. Very jtitery. Movement is also worse than the original.
samson or whatever the name is of the top elohim angel goes around and saves those who elohim imprisoned for trying to rebel against him. saving them they leave the simulation but samson sacrifices himself because someone needs to pull the switch

has anyone figured out how to get the green laser star in desert area? there aren't any rgb connectors in there
>reminder that talos 2 demo is available
Is the demo a separate standalone thing, or are you actually playing levels from the game? If it's the latter, I'd rather not spoil myself.
I get around 90-140 fps depending on the area at 1440p, 5900x and 7900XTX at max settings without upscaling. So compared to the other Unreal Slop 5 games like Remanent and immortals it's pretty good performance
Thank you. I'll download the demo and try it out. My GPU is an RTX3070 so if I get 60fps I'll be happy.

It does support all upscaling tech, so DLSS, FSR, XeSS and Unreals TSR.
Also if you plan to play at native do not use TSR but TAA instead since TSR is much more resource intensive at native resolutions

Those mother frickers dropped the Serious Engine to go to UE5? Why in the frick

In puzzle 2 you can aim a driller facing outside below and to the right of bridge you came in on to reveal a green beam emitter and then can use the connector from that puzzle to attach that green beam to top of mountain above the bridge. Then in puzzle 4 you can use a connector in there to link up top of mountain to the one on the leaned over guy with a platform on his back.
I played through it recently and thought it was pretty neat, only checking nooks and crannys for star puzzles was a bit annoying so I ended up not bothering with those much.
I dunno if this is just me or something that came when they switched to a the new directx or updated the tech in some way but... I found the game extremely shiny, almost uncomfortably so, the shinyness of the sun, lasers, forcefields etc felt too much at times.
>go deep on Talos Principle >find a final "extra" set of puzzles that require knowledge/discovery of arcane bullshit characteristics >some are practically, if not outright, bugs
Why did they do it?
Finished the demo. Pretty easy but I'm feeling kinda big brained after completing the prequel's puzzles and DLC without any assistance. I like the new mechanics. Got some hitching and stuttering occasionally but my gaymen PC is 7 years old so maybe that's it.
I can't really compare it to Portal, it's different games doing different things.
Portal is on action side - your main tool creates movement opportunities, there are various places that spell your doom if you don't execute them properly.
TP is the opposite - there are no action bits in game (except MAYBE for the timed puzzles that have you cooperating with your clone), and your tools are mostly about positioning and order of actions.
Only thing I guess we really can compare is the game length - compared to amount of puzzles and stuff in TP, without DLC, makes Portal feel like a fricking trial version. Although I guess Portal has luxurity of custom level packs, which isn't a thing in case of TP, I think. You are more than welcome to prove me wrong and slap my face into custom TP levels, that will be great.
Is it actually good? i loved portal but havent tried this
It's great. But the bonus star puzzles are bullshit.
Absolutely bullshit

You'll probably enjoy it. It's like portal with less reddit humor and more intro level philosophy
>more intro level philosophy
You can spot a moron if they say the plot is deep

the base game wastes too much time on tutorials. road to gehenna is very good.
Base game too easy, DLC is good. Optional collectibles demands some mid to high tier autism and plenty of free time.
just like everyone said it's pretentious
>it's pretentious
The Witness is pretentious. The Talos Principle is just "highbrow".
The entire story is just "le free will"
we're not talking about Disco Elysium, anon.
What are some more puzzle games with realistic graphics? I like this, but it isn't really a genre. Portal, Witness, Talos Principle. What else?
Myst?

It's entirely fricked. Someone playing the demo broke a cutscene and died. UE5 is a joke
I enjoyed it, though I got filtered early on. Some of those puzzles are nuts. I still need to finish it.
I cried at the end of the DLC.
Why? The ending of the main game felt pretty conclusive to me, how is the DLC story wise?
samson or whatever the name is of the top elohim angel goes around and saves those who elohim imprisoned for trying to rebel against him. saving them they leave the simulation but samson sacrifices himself because someone needs to pull the switch
you could have just given him the premise, why go straight to spoiling the damn ending?
well he was asking for it
I haven't played it yet but I cried at the main game.
So what did you do with milton? I brought him along

it's the start of the game
Thanks, bros. I will not download the demo then.
its a couple puzzles from the start of the game, and the introduction to the world/story of the new game.
How's the performance? Since it's Unreal 5, I think it'll run like shit, right?

The wizard behind the Serious Engine left for google during the development of Serious Sam 4 so they switched since he was the main guy behind it
how do i use this link?
Put it in your web browser address bar

Any other stars you can get in the demo?
all first person games make my tummy hurt or give me a headache, so I'll will not play this game and instead find a way and reason to hate it.
You can play it in 3rd person
I played through it recently and thought it was pretty neat, only checking nooks and crannys for star puzzles was a bit annoying so I ended up not bothering with those much.

you can mess around with the graphics settings
I accidentally wasted one of the advices, I only got two now, without spoilers, does that affect anything?
>t. never finished Portal 1’s advanced mode
I bought the iOS version so I'm justified in pirating it for PC 7 years ago and again

cute cat tho
Nice looking game
nice resolution

there's no excuse for misinterpreting the story of Eden as an adult.

But it doesn't have as compelling mechanic as portal gun.
