Possible Unicorn Overlord Localization Patch?

Anybody know if there's any plans for a fixed localization mod or patch for Unicorn Overlord. I was pretty hyped for that game but the localization ended butchering the OG script. Was wondering if anybody was planning on taking matter into their own hands.

No it didn't, frick off schizo. While a little too verbose at times, it's perfectly fine. Doesn't rewrite entire characters or story arcs, nor does it shoehorn any ESG agenda into the writing.

If the only thing that makes a localization bad is forcing in politics than your standard are very low. It adds in flowery language that wasn't resent in the original throughout the whole game, even changing the meaning of some lines. It isn't faithful. That's bad, end of story.

        >localization is only good when it's direct word for word MTL
You're one to talk about standards.
        >even changing the meaning of some lines
Shifting some lines around to make the sentence structure work in another language is not "changing the meaning".
All things considered it's very faithful to the original even if "spruced up" with verbose language which is more common for western fantasy.

No I'm not saying use literal google translate anon. I get some things must be changed but the verbose language wasn't in the original. As little as it might seem that type of choice should not have been added. There are ways to keep the original meeting without just adding things that weren't there. Accuracy should always be the primary focus. And this was a choice they went out of there way to add. Simple as that.

I don't know why you are trying to judge an English localization when you clearly don't know the language. Repeating the same tired points that get debunked and refuted again and again doesn't seem like all that sound a strategy to me either. Frick off with your disingenuous bullshit already.

Ya okay anon, tell me exactly how its been debunked, all you've done is moan and whine. You don't need to be a cook to know when you've been served a bad meal. What is it with you people and always trying to make the lamest points ever to defend poor work ethic and disrespectful behavior.

Let's go over all this again if you want to pretend to be so dense.
First, the elephant in the room - yes, the translation is quite a bit more verbose than the extremely dry direct translation (read: MTL) would have been. However, this in and of itself is not an issue, since the meaning and intention is still preserved. The reason for the flowery language lies partially in the fact that it has become a bit of a trope for fantasy works in English (original or localized), sometimes reaching downright Shakespearean levels (this one stops just short).
Now, all this crap about the translation changing meaning or being inaccurate overall in 99.9% of cases has been just ignorantly incorrect at best or disinfenuos and manipulative at worst. The most egregious examples had something to do with the fact that the lines naturally had to be shuffled around for the translated text to make sense in a different language, so of course a line by line comparison would look off. While in reality the overall meaning was always kept the same and still was preserved in the context of the entire scene.
Finally, in no way should this be considered poor work ethic and disrespectful behavior when, despite added flair, this is one of the most faithful and clean official localizations in recent years. Am I a fan of translating a simple battle cry like "Haaa!" into something like "Not so fast!"? No, not really. Was it a bad choice? No, also not really. Does it ruin the game and warrant spamming the same tired drivel for months on end? Absolutely not.

I disagree but enjoy being factually incorrect anon!

Accurate isn't the same thing as direct, and MTL is neither. You're attributing intent to the original script by calling it something that it's objectively not. You do realize English isn't the only language with dialects or historical evolution, right? It accordingly wouldn't make sense to use Victorian English in place of modern Japanese, regardless of what other morons are doing.
Common in English are syntactical inversions. Easy to understand, too. Much like assuming the intent of the author, assuming the player can't understand even slightly abnormal syntax is the translator's hubris. Lines are linear: the sequence ideas are delivered is itself significant and a common source of surprise. For an example, Kamidori's TL stuck out to me as entirely natural despite being very accurate to the original sentence structure.
                >Am I a fan of translating a simple battle cry like "Haaa!" into something like "Not so fast!"? No, not really. Was it a bad choice? No, also not really.
Interesting use of negation. So what are you a fan of? What kind of choice was it?
                >Does it ruin the game and warrant spamming the same tired drivel for months on end?
I'm not going to play guessing games about who's making what threads, but your insistence that people should stop talking about something shows an effort to hide something. Games are a product, thus the market is relevant. If the translation really didn't matter, discussion would die on its own. And there's always merit in something receiving multiple translations.

if your standards aren't low at this point then you must not play any video games at all
UO doesn't even stick to the prose and continuously falls back into modern casual dialogue
there are so many worse localizations out there that whining about this one, which at least accurately carries the meaning of the original lines without any censorship, is a ridiculous waste of time

Someone on twitter told me I should be angry about the translation, so I am. No game translation meets the standards I am setting for this one, but people on twitter haven't brought the issues with other games to my attention, so I don't care about them.

in all the time you've spent whining about translations, you could've simply learned japanese and never had to worry about this again lol

if it's worth your time to endlessly research, complain about, and beg for translations, it's worth your time to just shut up and learn the language.
    >b-b-but mtl
mtl will never accurately translate japanese and even if it could it wouldn't be able to give you even 10% of the flavor that the original text has. learn japanese

Is there a way to play this game on PC? If I use emulator perhaps? Vanillaware isn't going to let them release on PC, probably afraid of it getting the Darkest Dungeon treatment where half the mods are pornographic.
