Post a developer and what you think is their peak game. The one that they can't ever top, a magnum opus.
I'll start: Capcom

Hudson
Bomberman 94 for PC Engine
i'd say Ys IV but thats a very good choice
t. never played Capcom's arcade games, or probably anything outside of Capcom's NES and SNES games
Capcom has made so many good games that saying this is their magnum opus is just farcical. What the frick OP?
To each their own I guess but why exactly?
Played a lot of them, Capcom's arcade games are great but they don't stick with you like games on home consoles do. Except maybe SF
>why exactly?
It's a Disney platformer with a unique core mechanic (cane/pogo jump), good looking and has a memorable set of well-designed levels. The music is also great. Lots and lots of secrets which ensue replayability. The length and size of the game is just enough to beat in one sitting and save some fun for the next time.
In many ways, it's just a perfectly crafted game. Sure, Capcom have made many other amazing games, but this one is brimming with "soul", or "effort", or whatever you call it.
Anyway, it's just a silly little thread and I wanted to hear what would others say, don't think too much about it
Compile: MUSHA Aleste
Blizzard: Brood War
Capcom: Resident Evil 4
Nintendo: Super Mario World
Sega: Streets of Rage 2
Enix: Actraiser
Konami: Metal Gear Solid
The definitive Capcom game has to be SF2. Yes, stuff like Mega Man and Disney or whatever is good, but SF2 defacto defined and codified the whole genre of fighting games.
Calling "Capcom", "Nintendo", "Konami", "Sega", etc a developer is an exaggeration anyway. It's multiple devs in 1 company.
Namco : Pac-Man
Boring, play Ace Combat
>Peak game
>not ridge racer
you had one job
Compile : Zanac Neo.
Toaplan: TRUXTON
Midway : Space invaders
Midway is a publisher, not a developer. Also, Space Invaders was developed by Taito.
*Taito: Space Invaders
Raizing: Armed Police Batrider
Rare: Donkey Kong Country
Activision: Pitfall
Nintendo, pic related
Stern electronics: Berzerk
Nichibutsu: Terra Cresta
Mistwalker
Nobous last good OST
Sega: Initial D Stage 3
Namco: Rolling Thunder
Capcom: Capcom vs SNK 2
Konami: DDRMax
Nintendo: ???
I have massive nostalgia for that game and you're absolutely crazy
i thought it was fair
Capcom
Demons Crest
Treasure.
I like Bangai-O quite a bit but you could make a pretty strong argument that Treasure peaked with their first game.
Capcom: Resident Evil 4.
Ducktales is cool but come on. It's not even their IP from a company known for its great IPs.
