trains arent mandatory, it took me hours to get signals in this game cause no tutorial ever said that you need signal BEFORE and AFTER intersection, its not like irl and completely took me way too long to realize.
you would think that but i did not, for me i was very counterintuitive cause its nothing like irl, part of the problem was also my first intersection had 4 trains some going 1 way on loop and others back and forth on part of the same loop (also a big beginner trap), it took me hours to find the mistake and finally realize signals should go on both sides of the intersection.
>so you are feeding wagons manually?
It's from a challenge run video by one DoshDoshington, a no belt no bot run.
It's still all automated, governed by logic circuitry. The guy who made it is a computer engineer and he makes some pretty interesting stuff in Factorio, using silly challenges to push the actual possibilities of the logic systems to it's limits. The only vehicle run and the end of the world run particularly show off some insane use of the game systems.
clearly has bots.
Yeah, the correct title should be "no belts no logistics bots", but it's pretty obvious from the context, isn't it?
Restraining yourself from construction bots does not add to the logistic challenge in any way.
There is no way people have actual trouble with trains, it has to be a meme.
Just separate tracks into sections, and understand trains won't enter a section if it has another train in it.
That makes a little more sense, I've only ever used two of them in 300 hours of gameplay. Trains in general are incredibly simple in general. Actual normie filter.
>still doesn't get what chain signals do
Normal signal prohibits a train to enter a section, if there's another train in it.
Chain signal prohibits a train to enter a section, if train will not be able to leave this section.
Intersection is properly designed by putting a normal signal on every way out, and chain signal before every instance of rails intersecting on every way.
Yeah. "Blocks specific train until next signal on said train's path no longer blocks said train. Upon reserving a block for a specific train, signals next signal on said train's path to reserve its block for said train." doesn't exactly conjure a clear image.
I played transport tycoon (even the original that launched in MS-DOS before deluxe) when I was 8 or 9 years old. Grown men should definitely not struggle with factorio trains
They overload themselves with half assed infodumping youtube "guides" that just tell them to place chains everywhere instead of naturally growing their train system and encountering the issues, organically, that are solved with signal logic.
>place chains everywhere
Dear god why do they recommend that? You only need chain signals for blocks where a train might not be able to *leave* a because the exit is blocked. Putting them everywhere will just slow things down to a crawl (and possibly add deadlocks too).
rule that if crossing block is shorter than the trains+ wagon it should use chain signal is all you need

Yeah. So where the frick are these idiot Youtubers getting the idea that you should just always use chain signals?

The problem was always about how much, if at all, should you sacrifice production for better quality items, not about the recycling loop itself. You just got filtered.
Nah it looks easy enough to brute force quality early for certain things you'll be using for a while like turrets or armor/weapons, possibly a car depending on what quality even affects.
the names look shit sure, but the question is, how do you increase the quality of these buildings?
If its just spending extra resources then thats pretty damn boring, and it seems unfitting overall.
and its fundamentally lazy and boring, why not make new sprites for a new look of the advanced building
Oil is so fricking easy, just speedrun regular oil by making some plastics in a box and sulfur and go straight to advanced refining
Pic related is a bigger filter imo
you did better than me i launched my 1st rocket and immediately clicked finish game cause my base was such a mess I had no idea what i where anymore and wanted to GTFO of the planet.
Requester trains for outposts. Requires a ton of circuit conditions and a circuit network spanning your entire train network. Only calls for a train at the station where supplies have dropped below a specified threshold, and only unloads what is necessary then returns to the base station.
I don't know about filters, but factorio bruh moments that I learned the hard way: >Infecting your bus with foreign items >Not building with ratios in mind >Not designing your bus with a specific goal >Not researching bots asap >Making blueprints that can't be upgraded >Placing anything that can't be upgraded >Using short trains >Not building enough labs >Not using productivity modules in labs >Using anything but efficiency modules in miners >Spawning in a desert >Making over engineered walls >Worse, using turrets with said walls >Not leaving enough space >Not erasing any breathing thing in your fart cloud >Cutting down trees in early game >Using bots instead of spidertrons >Making a huge bot network
I will not learn to code. Using cricuits reminds me of coding so i refuse to use them. I already got scared and confused when I set up a circuit that would automatically stop lube production when a liquid tank was full
>unnatural
I love it when the hvac technician tells me he's going to replace my common gas manifold with an "unnatural" one like he's got the great foe of mankind himself as a supplier
>Trains
not required to finish or play the game and they are easier than crafting a red science pack just most guides are moronic and confusing for no reason.
oil is easy, purple science is the real filter
once you get past oil and pipe bullshit you have enough experience and endurance nothing comes close imo.
trains arent mandatory, it took me hours to get signals in this game cause no tutorial ever said that you need signal BEFORE and AFTER intersection, its not like irl and completely took me way too long to realize.
It explains that signals create blocks, so naturally you need at least two
you would think that but i did not, for me i was very counterintuitive cause its nothing like irl, part of the problem was also my first intersection had 4 trains some going 1 way on loop and others back and forth on part of the same loop (also a big beginner trap), it took me hours to find the mistake and finally realize signals should go on both sides of the intersection.

My friend with 900 hours in the game still doesn't get what chain signals do.
Doesn't seem to be particularly hard to grasp.
Yeah. "Blocks specific train until next signal on said train's path no longer blocks said train. Upon reserving a block for a specific train, signals next signal on said train's path to reserve its block for said train." doesn't exactly conjure a clear image.
I am admittedly smoothbrained on rails and circuits. I just know the mantra: chain in, signal out.
You can realistically play at a high level of throughput with no chain signals. At most your roundabouts will be very slightly less efficient.
Bro. BRO. A lot of guides will overlook one simple thing that determines a lot:
TRAIN SIZE < BLOCK SIZE
This single fricking concept is so overlooked that newbies don't even know what a BLOCK is.
I played transport tycoon (even the original that launched in MS-DOS before deluxe) when I was 8 or 9 years old. Grown men should definitely not struggle with factorio trains

Some just can't into abstracted representation.
The same people think their house is supposed to beep.
XCom percentages arent' real anyways
they are on higher difficulty, on normal and lower it actually cheats in favor of the player
After playing Angel's petrochem, I don't know how people get filtered by vanilla oil.
yes after you play the game for hundreds of hours and figure everything out it seems easy
is there a way to download mods on pirated version?
Only if they have a github they also upload it to
Reminder that you were intellectually filtered if you disliked the quality feature beyond the tier names.
>intellectually filtered
>quality upgrade loop already solved in the same post it appeared
It it now that I say "I kneel"?
The problem was always about how much, if at all, should you sacrifice production for better quality items, not about the recycling loop itself. You just got filtered.
Ignore quality until you are able to make a factory that takes advantage of them ( post rocket launch )
Nah it looks easy enough to brute force quality early for certain things you'll be using for a while like turrets or armor/weapons, possibly a car depending on what quality even affects.
That's your great intellectual filter? Deciding when and how much (because not at all is moronic idea anyway)?
Man, filter these days get really low.
You can't deny that names are bad enough to cause mass adverse reaction among playerbase, this isn't a gacha game.
the names look shit sure, but the question is, how do you increase the quality of these buildings?
If its just spending extra resources then thats pretty damn boring, and it seems unfitting overall.
and its fundamentally lazy and boring, why not make new sprites for a new look of the advanced building
Quality deserves its status as a contentious update, even if I've ended up coming around to it.
Oil is so fricking easy, just speedrun regular oil by making some plastics in a box and sulfur and go straight to advanced refining

You guys do know they made oil easier, right?
Blue circuits are what filters me
Make a dedicated green and red chip feeder for your blue chips instead of getting it from the bus
why, it literally uses the same shit you produced much earlier, you just connect it to assembler
i’m have never used cracking or circuits
>He doesn't set up large scale kovarex to mass produce nuclear missiles
Why even play
i launch the rocket and then get bored before nuclear
you did better than me i launched my 1st rocket and immediately clicked finish game cause my base was such a mess I had no idea what i where anymore and wanted to GTFO of the planet.
You guys should launch a second one with a fish for the easy achievement.

Uncommon > Unnatural
Rare > Valuable
Legendary > Golden
Epic > Pristine
There, I fixed the names
>unnatural
I love it when the hvac technician tells me he's going to replace my common gas manifold with an "unnatural" one like he's got the great foe of mankind himself as a supplier
Apparently this in its entirety for many.
Arriving at Gran Soren specifically.
It filtered me initially and I was one of the 5 people that preordered the game.
I was filtered by the black isle and the game once you get the ashy world
took 5 tries for this game to click for me and man, i dumped so many hours into it in such a short period of time after that
Nah, easy bro!
I didn't know I can do that.
fluids are comfy, it's just the buildup to blues that sucks
Trains were 100x more complicated then oil
