Not him but Enforcer is decent. Remaster introduced alternate skills to enforcer and he got some alright ones. The shield slam, for example, can be replaced by shield tackle, which works as a mobility skill and is just overall more fun. Basic shotgun can be replaced with a grenade launcher, and the special flashbang grenade can be replaced by a nifty triple shotgun blast. I overall enjoyed Enforcer.
Several purists claim to hate Returns compared to 2, but I think it's a great upgrade over vanilla.

I don't consider myself a purist, but I also prefer 1 over 2, and as far as I'm concerned it's painfully obvious that 2's design is much clumsier and shittier than 1's. It's an alright horde shooter, bearable-ish, but 1 is just way tighter. Not to mention all the lazy shit connected to 2, like those gays literally not even finishing the item descriptions before 1.0.
I'd begrudgingly be willing to play 2 if it was like half as expensive or less, but if I had to choose being 1 and 2 being actively developed - I'd go with 1 without hesitation.

cool i guess. i just remember trying to make the enforcer work but getting killed all the time because of how slow he was and his shield wall ability still makes you vulnerable from the back which every monster would circle around to

You should be able to backpedal and knockback most monsters away to avoid getting got on the bum. I have no issues winning on Rainstorm with any class except pilot (new addition) and maybe Artificer (they brought her from 2, and she sucks titanic ass here as well, I figure the devs hate her).

I don't remember how it was with enforcer in the original, but it works well enough in the remaster. The remaster also features a bunch of control additions, like actually being able to backpedal while shooting on all ranged characters and not just huntress and enforcer, and being able to aim with your mouse (only in the two directions though, no full 360 aiming). It's a lot smoother to play now. There are also some quality of life additions like no longer having to kill all enemies on the level to teleport (only boss has to be killed now), plus a bunch of items (many of which are shit to be tbh) and new classes (pilot, artificer, drifter, and secret class), new level layouts, etc. It's a very good time in my opinion, I was genuinely shocked to see a remaster in 2020s that is actually good. No kodding support right now thoughever, and the devs haven't given any news in like a while, so everyone went back to 2 and modded original it seems.
