My original PlayStation started acting weird and was dying years ago but it would work if I put the PlayStation on its side. I got another couple years outta it that way.
I stole my CRT setup. 50 bucks for a G3 all in one with the video capture card, that lets you use this as a CRT monitor. The tubes that were in these were pretty breasts.
might as well buy a mister at that price, or an analogue pocket but i wouldnt shame anyone for buying it. heck, im jealous of anyone with a real neogeo at all
I swear I'm going mad from reading "zoom zoom" here all the time. I'm shouting it randomly and people are starting to question my sanity. Well, I challenge them to stay sane in a sea of meaningless buzzwords.
I've got a shitty Sylvania TV that's plugged into my computer and I use it to play emulators on and two monitors that don't work. One being a Compaq s710 and the other a 1993 apple color monitor that uses Trinitron tech but unfortunately won't work with my PC.
I have a cheap 14 inch crt I keep in my wardrobe most of the time. I'd like to use it more often, but since I'm a zoom zoom who hasn't used a crt since 2007 or so, my eyes aren't used to this ancient boomer technology.
I got my first CRT yesterday, picked it up local for 15 bucks. don't even have anywhere to put it right now other than the floor. It's just a Phillips Magnavox
i guarantee it smells like a dentistry. this has got to be the most soulless utilitarian on wheels uncomfortable aligned for a photo television setup i have witnessed in weeks.

Nice try
Who said anything about being happy? Being able to play lightgun games and not dealing with de-interlacing while getting the color pop of a CRT is reason enough to own one.
What picture settings do you keep your TV at? I found this to really bring out the colors just by slightly lowering these settings. It really brought out the dreamlike color feeling in the Spyro games.
You will be happy. Your minds are stuck in the past because that was the best time to be happy and now you all are happy and forever stuck in that loop. You will re-experience your childhood experiences all over-again.
How do you personally rate usefulness of a CRT widescreen TV?
I think its pretty decent, but i only play 6th gen and up stuff on it(it has an hdmi port).
Biggest issue with stuff on it is most 2D with scrolling has a weird bending effect when transitioning (im sure there is a word for it) at the sides of the screen.
that specific tau both does lagless 480p and lets you pick between component standards (601 vs 709), so it's pretty much the ideal wii machine (which uses rec 601 even though that's not intended for ED/HD sources).
I have a standard definition one. It's perfect for Wii games, or any 5th or 6th gen game with a widescreen mode. And DVDs.
4:3 games look fine if the tv is set to 4:3 mode, but certain Wii games like Megaman 9 suffer because the pixel scaling isn't perfect in widescreen mode.
>but certain Wii games like Megaman 9 suffer because the pixel scaling isn't perfect in widescreen mode.
Some guy at gbatemp made a cheat code that fixes the pixel scaling in Mega Man 9, I don't remember how it works but the game definitely seems to look better

I recently acquired a 36in crt
should I actually keep this thing or something, or just landfill it?
shit is too big for my house
it has component though
if it's working put it on your local marketplace or find someone here who wants it before you landfill it. The demand for CRTs is high and none are getting made, we don't need more going to waste.
im not going to deal with fricking mouth breathers who are too moronic to follow absolute bare ethics like: show up at roughly a time I say is ok, show up ready to actually load it and take it, just fricking take it not spend 30 minutes trying to pick it apart or someting b***h its free and i posted a pic of it on wtf
for this I dont ever bother with craigslist for selling/giving away
I'll probably make more of an effort trying to get someone to take it if I decide I dont actually want to keep/try to store it.
if it wasnt 800lbs I could just store it in my attic till i need it but yeah
no sorry, I am not that person.
I have a 19in crt monitor I use as a side monitor on my desktop and a nice 20in I break out every now and then for consoles. it's just the 36in is like 150lbs and hueg. I dont even have it in my posession, it was left as a burden on my family amongst tons of other stuff and I said I would take care of it when I swiped all the other retro hardware that was there.
just unplugged the VSM cable on my Toshiba. christ what a terrible "feature". I always thought something looked off about the picture, and that was it. trying to read text on FF8 felt like I was rubbing glass into my eyeballs - it was just way too sharp. fonts are actually soft and readable now and not a nightmare for my astigmatism. I was beginning to think that all PS1 games were just going to look like that
I was a mega autist and would bring a fricking crt tv and my PS2 with me on road trips with my family as a child and run them off of an inverter in the car lol
>black, flat surfaces everywhere >large volume knobs >VFDs and sometimes analog VU meters
Man, 80s and early 90s AV equipment design really is peak aesthetic.
I have a 3M Microtouch touchscreen Viewsonic. I don't use the touchscreen feature as it needs a serial port which I don't have. I'm sure it works though. I also have a 21 QVision 210 that I fixed up.
I only have 8" downstairs. But many farang. They say. Have 29" maybe more. More downstairs. But only have 49" belly. Have 5" down stairs only. They show same pics from reddit.
Totally wrong. Heavy TVs should be upstairs. In the first floor goes only small and lightweight screens. People will visit you, enter your house and exclaim: "lol u so weak with ur girly arms cant even lift lmao". After that, take them to the second floor and let them be amazed by humongous TVs you lifted yourself, watch as they fall on their knees and beg for mercy, because they "didn't know". But now it's too late. They've messed with the wrong person.
Some heavy TVs such as pic related would be safer to place at the lowest level unless you know the floor on the upper levels can handle such a large load in a small area.
I've never seen a vertical psone before.
My original PlayStation started acting weird and was dying years ago but it would work if I put the PlayStation on its side. I got another couple years outta it that way.
Hah my wife was the same way.

Jealous of your neo geo flashcart OP. Those things are almost as expensive as Neo Geo games at this point.
They are making new Neo Geo flashcarts.
Preorder: https://shop.terraonion.com/shop/product/neosd-pro-aes/view
>569.00€
lmao
That's like the price of a dozen MVS games
>neo-geo cartridges are so fricking expensive! thank god there's a new flash ca-ACK
holy shit terraonion sucks ass
Only good flashcart for Neo Geo
might as well buy a mister at that price, or an analogue pocket
but i wouldnt shame anyone for buying it. heck, im jealous of anyone with a real neogeo at all
These israelites are disgusting
Just look at that price
Yeah, I'm just going to play VC versions of Neo Geo games.
Lol, these guys are mental. Get a cheap MVS adapter. And go buy a bunch of MVS carts for the money. Saves you the awkward flash writing times too.
Wew what a bargain
how do you project your desktop to a crt?
With a vga cable
Zoom zoom
Why call them zoom zoom when they're slow though? Is it to be ironic? (No offense)
Zoomer is a corruption of boomer, where the "b" was replaced with a "z" for gen z.
I swear I'm going mad from reading "zoom zoom" here all the time. I'm shouting it randomly and people are starting to question my sanity. Well, I challenge them to stay sane in a sea of meaningless buzzwords.

Or something

I smell retro tink 5X using 1080i output mode for the HD CRT hot damn that’s sexy

He fricking seems to be, having free food and playing PS2 all day every day.
It's a sunroom technically. The bars are there so people don't fall out when they prop the window open.

dont let the others bully you, i think cart setups are comfy in their own way
Sit back down b***hes. Daddy’s here.

So close
Love the tidiness but no light gun with that monitor
Wtf soulful lcd
How is that Dreamcast so white?
Mine also is extremely white
It’s also a PAL console
Mine has yellowed. Also PAL, although I fail to see why that is relevant.
Sometimes different plastics are uses
I thought maybe PAL consoles might have used a plastic less susceptible yellowing
Heat and UV exposure are also major contributors to yellowing.
Not all plastics react the same way

Why the hell would you want it to have a touchscreen?

you just outed yourselves as youngshits. they were at every ATM and bowling alley in the 90s. Are you even old enough to use an ATM lol

Meanwhile in 1986...
This wasn't CRT technology. IIRC a lot of these were faux-digital controls.
It literally says it's a cathode ray tube.

cool frosted plastic storage box you got there.

Here you go

You mad, Black?
The only proper use for CRT is...
Where do you even get a CRT in UK? Everyone refuses to ship one or charges a hundred quid for it.
Facebook marketplace
go and pick one up yourself
Will it earn me peer respect?
Why did you stack two Dreamcasts?
Top one has an ODE, too much of a pussy to cannibalize the one I've used since college when it still works.
>peer respect
lol don't.
Do not seek approval of others. You need to genuinely like what you do. Trust me.

what am i looking at here?
Free trash for the wide screen, the wega below it i just found not too long ago and the flatscreen. Trinitron i paid 5 for.

Don't think there are too many uses, maybe some games that had that enhanced feature. It's mostly going to be TV shows and movies from that era.

why do you need two? is it just because you can or is there a genuine reason? just curious not hating
Both reasons. I can, but I also connect some consoles to the left screen, and others to the right one. Saves me the hassle of dealing with switches.
