You can probably shuffle something for these with GURPS, but damn wouldn't it be cool to have proper dedicated systems for these buggers. EYE in particular deserves love for how batshit insane the possibilities for interactions and events could be.

I'm sure there's about 500 different shitty indie RPG designers tripping over each other to be the first one to release a Dungeon Meshi inspired cooking-themed fantasy RPG, and none of them will display anything remotely resembling a surface-level understanding of the source material.

I don't want anything "inspired" or a fangame, I want an official adaptation.

IIRC the author is fan of D&D and Pathfinder, so if we ever get official adaptation it's probably gonna be 5e module.

The author is well known for liking D&D, and seeing as to Japan's history with it the Red Box Basic D&D should be closest to what they grew up with and were inspired by.
Another good candidate would be Sword World 2.5 which is notably the top domestic fantasy TRPG in Japan and was made as a direct response to D&D and issues licensing it for unique settings.

Forgot to say, if you want a food type vibe just have a player who's passionate in cooking and is fairly creative. For some extra added fun immersion the host can make the meal which is going to/has been made in the game sessions.
Make taco's out of dragon scale shells, fleshing mince, and some insect hoard spices in the last session? Then the snacks/meal for the next session made by the host will be tacos!

I like Dungeon Meshi but [flavor of the month anime] really does not need its own special snowflake game.

      Anonymous

      >flavor of the month
It's a 10 year old manga that had general threads on /tg/ for almost every chapter and already has it's own board game.

Yeah but theres a netflix adaptation coming or something so theres a bunch of secondaries coming in too

Anime-only are not "secondaries", anime is also official medium.

When the anime is a netflix release, it counts as secondary.

It's a well known fact that the quality of discussion for a manga goes down whenever an anime adaptation comes out. Partially because it means people who have neither the ability or patience to read start having opinions on it, lowering the overall quality of discussion.

Like every goddamn time too. Doesn't matter what it is. Freieren threads are just as bad. Series existed for years prior but just as soon as it gets an anime it's general threads 24/7 as people have to try and make a meme out of everything.

You are now made aware that something that isn't new can make a resurgence as a fad of the week, bandwagon, etc.
See: D&D, movie/show reboots, video game remasters/remakes, etc.

When I want something in a game, I add it to one in progress, or revolve a game around it.
I don't wait for some indie or corporate slobs to shit some rules-lite adaptation of it that I'll have to add shit to anyway.

The problem is that Dungeon Meshi is just D&D (or whatever, as long as it's high magic and death is cheap), but with elaborate cooking and food rules.

Do you feel like making elaborate cooking and food rules that are fun and not too unbalanced?

        What does high magic mean?

        Anonymous

        >Low magic
Magic users are probably discriminated against and tend to be very rare. They're also not all powerful. You could spend your entire life without seeing a single magic user.
Think Conan the barbarian, Princess Bride, early ASOIAF (like the first 2-3 volumes)

        >High magic
Everyone's a wizard and shit. Got a problem? There's a spell to solve it. Magic is pretty much a mundane thing, like having floating street lights with magic flames in them or having a magic device that allows your fantasy characters to have "modern tech"
Think D&D, Akashic Records of the whatever, late ASOIAF

The mech side of things would be super easy, there's like a dozen different games and ways to represent the mechs
The pilots however would be impossible, they are too fast and move around too erractly to make playing them work well in a tabletop setting

      Anonymous

If I were to make a Titanfall RPG I'd probably use racing templates like pic related to represent their fast, hard to predict movements. Mechs would pilot more or less "normally" and have to predict whether pilots decided to dash off and in which direction before declaring an attack and certain weapons like missiles or Scorch's grenade launcher would have similar velocity rules to allow you to physically dodge em. I don't know if it'd actually work and it'd need to be play-tested to hell and back but it's the only way I can think of to even somewhat accurately capture the sheer speed and frenetic nature of hardcore parkouring your way around a giant robot.

        >even board games try to lure kids with controllers
I guess it is par for the course by what looks like the premise of the game, but it still feels wrong somehow. These days I'd try and make them forget screens exist for a short while instead of reminding them they are not checking their phone, or worse, making them use an app to play the board game.

They're supposed to be remote controllers, as in remote control cars. As in remote control car racing, hence the name of the game.

Honestly, the game itself is shit, compared to its premise and art. But there was a lot of potential there that I filled in with my imagination.
