If Playstation becomes the monopoly in console gaming, it would have no exclusives. There would be no reason to have any, people buy consoles because they want a cheaper and simpler alternative to PC gaming, and exclusives are only used to sway the the customer towards a particular brand of console.

Exclusives were key up until gen 8, when it became obvious that Nintendo exists in its own walled garden and doesn't compete with anyone, and Xbox is not a competitor to Sony. That's when Sony stopped focusing on exclusives for the first time, Bloodborne being the only title people still bring up as the big PS4 exclusive. Also, before gen 8, consoles were very different from PCs and each other, so ports were something developers had to actually develop, reimplementing code to run on PC hardware, same with cross-platform releases. That's why Sonic Heroes played like shit on the PS2, and Bayonetta played like shit on the PS3. Nowadays, consoles are literally just PCs, which is why you can play a leaked build of Wolverine on your PC with no issues whatsoever.
