Because I am emotionally invested in this game failing and now that I am losing I can't stop shitting my diaper over it

Because the game only lets you make characters with small boobs, it deserves to fail.

I pirated it because it's the first high-budget game in forever that actually allows you to roleplay. It's fun and I'm enjoying it.

shouldnt you buy it now that you got to try it and and enjoy it?

I'll buy it in a year maybe. I have zero money right now (I'm a student) and when my check arrives Starfield will be out.

It’s the opposite. They had 3 years to sell the game so the numbers being big aren’t surprising.

I never even heard of this game until like a week ago and the only gameplay related discussion I have found anywhere was that someone said it's turn based and modeled after D&D. I got so frustrated trying to find out what the actual fricking game is that I looked up a let's play for the first time in a decade and the hour of gameplay that I panned through was 50% cutscenes, 20% character creation, 20% walking around, and 10% combat wherein the guy playing use maybe like three of the available buttons. The guy playing wouldn't comment on what he was even doing, instead talking about how nice everything looked and how the voices sound good.
I'm still not fully convinced that this is an actual game because NOBODY FRICKING TALKS ABOUT THE GAMEPLAY. I don't understand how so many people are interested in this when it's nigh impossible to find out what the actual GAME part of the game is.

I've played RPGs before but the way people talk about this one you would have thought it was a first person thing like TES. I read like a dozen threads about the game here and honestly did not know that that wasn't the case until I watched the let's play.

Oh yeah and I should mention that I even watched the trailer for the game on Steam and the cinematic bullshit didn't make it any clearer either.

The gameplay is literally just dnd combat, ie. turn-based tactics game with different classes.
Most of the time is spent talking to npc's and exploring though, what else would an rpg be good for if not for that

        Anonymous

Is the combat similar to/as good as xcom? The let's play kind of gave that impression but between the guy not explaining things and there being such an insane number of UI elements I'm honestly not sure.

It's like that yeah but not as tactical. No explicit cover mechanics, no destructible environments outside of a few select areas and such. It leans more into space control and mitigating risks by using spell buffs.
It's fun, but the meat of the game is in its story and roleplaying for sure. Never in a million years would I buy this game solely for the tactics shit.

Thank you. First genuine opinion on the actual gameplay that I've read here out of hundreds of posts. Might just replay xcom and pass on this one then.

It's literally a game that's made to pander to zoomers. Nobody has ever heard of baldur's gate before this like five night at freddys or like Friday night funkin where it just became popular out of nowhere thanks to zoomers all liking it since it trends on tiktok.

This. Zoomers love reading dialogue. Zoomers love making decisions. Zoomers love tasks that require multiple dynamic steps to complete. Zoomers love slow strategic combat. Zoomers love having to pay attention. Everyone knows this.

I am the most in touch with vidya person on the fricking board, it's just that I play video games instead of watching twitch streamers and falling for viral marketing so hype doesn't work on me.

        >>he tries to inform himself by watching streamers
Also I tried a LOT more than that, if you'd have read my posts here you'd know that. The issue is that NOBODY talks about the gameplay. I typically never, ever watch gameplay videos but had to here because hype riddled spastics refuse to actually tell you about the game 99.999% of the time.

Why do all of you spergs say this? When do you ever see people typing about the gameplay of any game on a forum? Never? Go show me a post describing elden rings gameplay. Show me somebody "talking about" frostpunks gameplay.

What the frick do you even want you troglodyte? Can you actully put it into words or your reading comprehension is too low to do that? You want to see what the game is about? Theres one quadrillion different videos on youtube talking about class building and customization alone. Just go and see them for yourself. If you are waiting for someone to diggest what the game is about in 10 words or less because your brain lacks the processing power to understand anything more than that then thats your problem

Being a D&D game actually limits it. If you want a tactical RPG then you're better off with Divinity Original Sin 2 by the same devs. Amazing game if you have a friend to play it with that also likes those sorts of games.

it's a turn based combat role-playing game set in Faerun, the DND world. It's based on DND.

I can show you what a telltale game is like to play and it would be functionally the same percentage of time dedicated to stuff that's not gameplay, except there's even less to think about outside of the "gameplay"

You either have to watch someone start the game and learn to play it for the first time to grasp it (large time investment) or play it yourself (also large time investment but you have fun because you make the choices)

Seious question. Does it have traces of trans/gay/Black folk/Lgbt+/white people hate/feminism or anything woke in it? If the answer on any of this is yes, then into the trash it goes for me

      Anonymous

Haven't met any trannies yet. There's nothing about gender identity (apart from a non-binary identity thing in the character creator) or anything about feminism yet either. Like in the story and game itself there's no hints of it.
Very few black characters but also since it's fantasy, human "races" are never really touched upon, it's all fantasy racism.
Characters are pretty lax about sex and your companions don't care whether or not you're a man or a woman, they'll let you hit anyway.

Not really, I bought it cause I've been starved for good AAA production value WRPGs, and I want more of them. Last one was like Mass Effect 2 or something.
