Consider that there are at least 20 times more ER players than AC players based on sales alone. That's why the initial conversation about AC6 was whether it was a fricking soulslike or not since most of the people gaming now were born after most of these games were released.
Sometimes people bring up Armored Core whenever a mecha thread was made. The thing is those mecha threads were few and far between more and more these days until maybe some mecha anime showed up that pique some anons' interests or a mecha game got announced like Gundam Evolution that one time. Also like you said, the mecha threads barely have any replies most of the time too, so it only enhances the scarcity.
Yeah I saw that the boosting works just like gundam extreme vs and that the camera seems decoupled from movement but frick it man. We haven't had a decent mecha game in ages, if its somewhat decent that I'm getting it.

I feel that AC6 will be much more manageable difficulty-wise than Souls, Bloodborne or Sekiro due to its aspect of customization, so I think the journos will have a much more leeway on playing and that could influence the score in a positive-ish direction.

I am convinced Elden Ring got a 96 despite not really being much different and WORSE than DS1 because of the popularity bonus from normalgays slurping that shit up because of GRRM and open worlderino.

There's no way journos would come back with the 60-ish score for this anymore. We're talking about post-ER FromSoft and I'm not talking about popularity in this case. They have the resource to make the game "functional" for wide audience now compared to the old games, from the planning to development all the way to playtesting and marketing. Things like art direction, voice dub, writing, gameplay "feel", level design, bugfix, they have the means to curate the experience for the audience and journos much, much better than what they used to have in 2012 and I seriously doubt they'll pull some serious blunder this time.

I think it'll be 90. This genre, regardless of changes with this iteration, is difficult to master. It's an incredibly polished looking game with some ideas taken from lessons in souls games. Elden Ring will help the score a bit by popularity, and a wider audience the journies will have to worry about backlash from. It will not feasibly get near or above 95 simply due to the niche genre and high difficulty (compared to goyslop)
AC6 will revive mission/level based games. No more walking simulator fillershit. From proved they could make the best open world game and will now bury the genre forever before anyone can even try to top it. 5D chess.
