It was pretty safe to assume from the start that everyone in the "Past" segement was on the chopping block save Clive, Jill, and the dog.
I had higher hopes for Clive's chocobo to survive than I did any of those soldiers we met.
Pretty much. It's just not a fun game. The cutscenes are horrible too...I don't give a shit about any of these people and yet the cutscenes are long and slow.
It doesn't help that you know going in almost every character you meet as young Clive is going to bite the dust in a few short hours.
It's like reading The Eclipse first and then going back to read The Golden Age. Yeah you know Guts, Casca, and Rickert will be fine(Comparatively) but you won't get invested in anything else going on when all you can think is "That guy is going to become Darth Vader" or "That guy is going to get eaten by a tiddy demon"
I'm dumb. Who was the guy screaming at Joshua and Clive when they were fighting in their eikon forms? Didn't sound like Clive but the context would make it seem like it was him.
>Type A >Type B >Type C
Three control schemes and they all suck total dick. Why the frick would I want to use R1 to dodge. Not being able to modify the UI sucks, too. The melodrama and cutscenes are all Grade-A golden age FF kino, though. But seriously frick these dogshit control schemes.
No, I want to play the game. I just don't understand why they created one of the shittiest layouts I've ever encountered in an action game. And they made three of them.
She's obviously not his real mother. Edwin either had another wife before her that died and he had to remarry while Clive was still too young to know she wasn't his real mom, or he's Edwin's bastard born from an affair that she begrudgingly accepted as "Hers" to avoid humiliation and took it out on him ever since.
She's his mom. She's just a noble woman whose blood contains the eikonic inheritance, which Clive failed to receive and thus was dismissed as a failure in her eyes. Meanwhile Elwin only received his station due to his dead dad and, in his own words, was just keeping the throne warm for Joshua. Clive probably got skipped by the Phoenix for the same reason he has Ifrit. We just don't know. But he's definitely her kid. He's just a failed eugenics project.

Maybe Clive was born with Ifrit, which is why he didn't get Phoenix.

I'm leaning towards Clive is something else entirely given his seemingly unique ability to channel the power of multiple eikons together.
Well, we know he's still alive in some fashion since the Revenge trailer shows 20s Clive hugging him in some sort of Phoenix ravine. Question is, is Joshua still himself or is he in effect a new person? He looked pretty stoic in the trailer while Clive was crying
I played it for 5 minutes just to try out the absolute frickton of new abilities (don't forget they give you 1600 spending points to try new shit) but turned it off after that. I've seen enough. The opening was amazing and I'm on board to experience everything fresh.
Well if Clive did do it, that's likely gonna be a twist since it's gonna be rough to spend a decade waiting to get your revenge only to learn you were the one that did it. So yeah, for now it's definitely gonna say someone else killed him.

My guess is Clive understands he did it but is in denial. The real question is who unlocked his pornhub password and let godzilla out. Clive wasn't in control and literally experienced out-of-body horror. That wasn't a regular transformation. Somebody pulled some shit with our boy.
Finally someone combines the lauded combat of Dragon Age 2 with the linear campaign of Final Fantasy XIII.
Yoshi-sama just understands us like no other
I gave up on Final Fantasy when they released XV. I hoped to frick they learnt and improved on the cluster frick which is final fantasy XIII. Not again. Never again. Final Fantasy XVI will be shit.
>be Square Enix >have no identity nor vision >try to cater to western audiences because japs only care about DQ >catering and listening to the west made their studio close after numerous flops - Forspoken being the latest >"surprisingly" DQ is doing well in japan and overseas because they keep to their roots and listen to nips >nonetheless overall just bad decisions with other games and mostly lukewarm receptions and sales >"now its the best time to get on another FF mainline!" >"get the star, Yoshida Naoki-san to do it" >"FFXIV is a success, he can surely do it again!" >so they thought >japans sentiment with Yoshida is not great, japanese XIV players hate him for various reasons >it all started when they showed Shadowwalker trailer in Tokyo Fanfest with english dub and japanese sub >in their own fricking country >it all went downhill >but people think Yoshida is a god in the west >they call him yoshi-p >cute >he loves paris and loves doing Fanfests in America >westaboo >FFXVI is in development >soon people will realize that, while XIV is a good game, it is not a good Final Fantasy >Square Enix made the mistake of catering to the west again >Yoshida and crew behave like snowflakes suddenly >"jrpg is a bad term please use the right pronouns" >"we took great lessons from God of War, GTA V and Game of Thrones!" >"It will be a must buy for newer generations!" >the franchise old players loved is dead now >there will never be a turn-based Final Fantasy mainline ever again, even if FFXVI flops >what made Final Fantasy good was groundbreaking graphics, interesting tactical gameplay mechanics, breathtaking cutscenes and charming and magical stories >it was the Ghibli of the early gaming era >all that is missing now and people don't care anymore in the first place >to make it even worse, it will only release on PS5 first, a console japan don't even buy >they rely on the west for sales >journos already hate it because it has no blacks in it
well played
>what made Final Fantasy good was groundbreaking graphics, interesting tactical gameplay mechanics, breathtaking cutscenes and charming and magical stories >it was the Ghibli of the early gaming era >all that is missing now and people don't care anymore in the first place
But that's what they are doing in FF16. Ignoring the gameplay mechanics part.
Are you blind or something?
It looks worse than Last of Us 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2 on the ps4. Not to mention the PC port of FFXV but I know you'll accuse me of being Barry if I bring that up
>"Final Fantasy XVI is a fantastic entry in the series held back by it's lack of diversity and almost exclusively white narrative that sets a dangerous precident when it comes to the safety and inclusivity of minorities. 10 reasons why that's a bad thing (And 10 why it's not)"
Like that
No one ever talks about the main story of Bethesda games. I think FF16 will nail the story, but Starfield will take over the conversation because of all the systems
What sponge enemies?
Those three bosses they make you fight? Because the goblins and soldiers you fight die in a few hits and may as well be made of paper.
Are we going to be disingenuous c**ts now and complain about bosses having large health pools in an RPG?
Lol frick no. Starfield looks way better than this piece of shit. This is just another skippable piece of crap like Stranger of Paradise. Will get in a bargain bin later
Did Clive warg or whatever into Torgal at the end of the prologue?
Someone suggested it elsewhere, and I initially thought it seemed like a dumb suggestion, but the first time we hear Clive after Ifrit appears, he is hearing Torgal whining and asking about Torgal before he notices Ifrit beating the shit out of Joshua.
Maybe Clive's consciousness got knocked out of his body by hooded guy.
I'm guessing it happens again with benedikta, and then the next arc is about clive learning to control Ifrit properly. It looks like the Ifrit vs Ifrit fight we've seen in the trailer happens at around the same level as the Benedikta fight.
Starfield is just fallout 4 with spaceships so it's not hard
Dragon's dogma 2, nah, and I say this with FFXVI as my most anticipated game since 2020
?t=6025
it's SO GAY that murdoch dies. i was hoping he'd live. he dies like a b***h. poof. dusted.
It was pretty safe to assume from the start that everyone in the "Past" segement was on the chopping block save Clive, Jill, and the dog.
I had higher hopes for Clive's chocobo to survive than I did any of those soldiers we met.
Most games will be better than Starfield its fricking Fallout 4 in space lol
>a focused game is better than open-worod create your own fun
No shit?
That sounds like a prediction created to start arguments.
Controlling this dude so far is no fun.
Pretty much. It's just not a fun game. The cutscenes are horrible too...I don't give a shit about any of these people and yet the cutscenes are long and slow.

We should be getting leaked copies soon no?
Final Fantasy has been garbage since X. I wouldnt hold my breath.
Good thing it's not being made by the guys that made the garbage ones. (Also XII was the shit and you're cringe if you think otherwise)
>by the guys that made the garbage ones
same devs who made XIV btw
oh agree XII was cringe. I never even bothered finishing that snorefest.
I'm dumb. Who was the guy screaming at Joshua and Clive when they were fighting in their eikon forms? Didn't sound like Clive but the context would make it seem like it was him.
>Type A
>Type B
>Type C

Did you have the timely accessories equipped? Those make the game piss easy and is basically easy mode.
No, I want to play the game. I just don't understand why they created one of the shittiest layouts I've ever encountered in an action game. And they made three of them.
Works for me
Yeah, I beat the demo. I like FF.
>R1 to dodge
>Triangle for magic
>L1 for lock-on
Shit's moronic. Type B is the least offensive so I went for that.
That was a great demo. I'm glad I avoided most trailers.
What happened to Joshua? Did he die? Did Clive kill him?
It's called a cliffhanger
Ifrit is somehow sealed into Clive. Someone must have triggered it since Clive couldn't control the body. It had to be the hooded guy, right?
Joshua is dead, according to the additional battle mode it wasn't Clive that killed him but a mysterious "second eikon of fire"
Seriously people, don't sleep on the mode that unlocks after the demo, it's literally another hour of content.
They think he is dead.
No body=he's alive.
I hope you're right. We need to kill our b***h Mum too.
>Why is Mum such a c**t?
She's obviously not his real mother. Edwin either had another wife before her that died and he had to remarry while Clive was still too young to know she wasn't his real mom, or he's Edwin's bastard born from an affair that she begrudgingly accepted as "Hers" to avoid humiliation and took it out on him ever since.
But those soldiers said something like, "How could she treat her own flesh and blood like that?" So it she must be his actual blood related mum.
Did you preorder
I never pre-order. But I do buy digital. I'll buy it on the day of release then enjoy taking a few days off work to play.
Well if Clive did do it, that's likely gonna be a twist since it's gonna be rough to spend a decade waiting to get your revenge only to learn you were the one that did it. So yeah, for now it's definitely gonna say someone else killed him.

Yoshi-sama just understands us like no other
FF is a dead series and now it lost its JRPG identity trying to be western
they've been doing that since the first game which was a wizardry knockoff
Rebirth isn't trying to be Western nor is copying what's popular though.
FF never had an identity outside of copying whatever's popular at the time and slapping chocobos on it
But will it be better than Spider-Man 2?
I think so, yes
I gave up on Final Fantasy when they released XV. I hoped to frick they learnt and improved on the cluster frick which is final fantasy XIII. Not again. Never again. Final Fantasy XVI will be shit.
no shit
I love her and will protect her
>absolutely zero personality
???
She's a child. They don't need a personality. They just need to be cute and endearing while a personality forms.
How DARE you speak ill of my wife!
>absolutely zero personality
Exactly how I love my women.
They just need to follow me around and become a mini-me.

lmao even
If you don't have a PS5 to play the game, at least go watch some videos of the gameplay.
It looks worse than Last of Us 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2 on the ps4. Not to mention the PC port of FFXV but I know you'll accuse me of being Barry if I bring that up
somewhat true but XIV is an mmo and therefore not a game, let alone a good game.
How will moronic western journalists review this game kek
It'll get very good scores because it is a sony exclusive and they know how to look after "journalists"
>"Final Fantasy XVI is a fantastic entry in the series held back by it's lack of diversity and almost exclusively white narrative that sets a dangerous precident when it comes to the safety and inclusivity of minorities. 10 reasons why that's a bad thing (And 10 why it's not)"
Like that
Scarily accurate.
Journalists are scum.
Square Enix is incapable of making a better game than modern Capcom
No one ever talks about the main story of Bethesda games. I think FF16 will nail the story, but Starfield will take over the conversation because of all the systems
I agree. Starfield will over so much more in terms of gameplay, it will mog XVI unfortunately
>QTE and scripted events up the ass
>sponge enemies in an offline mmo
>shit story
Huge no. Those other two games will be actual games.
What sponge enemies?
Those three bosses they make you fight? Because the goblins and soldiers you fight die in a few hits and may as well be made of paper.
Are we going to be disingenuous c**ts now and complain about bosses having large health pools in an RPG?
Yes, I will. These boss have slow as frick animations.
Bait
The fights take way too fricking long
>This will be a better game than Starfield
Oh, easy.
>and Dragon's Dogma 2
Ehhh...
Starfield will be just Fallout 0.5 in space, from a has-been studio.
Dragon's Dogma 1 was shit, so I have no high hopes for the second one.
Lol frick no. Starfield looks way better than this piece of shit. This is just another skippable piece of crap like Stranger of Paradise. Will get in a bargain bin later
Imagine believing Todd
Jill reminds me of Stella
Starfield? Probably. Dragon's Dogma 2? Probably not.
Someone must have awakened Ifrit since Clive didn't do it on his own. The question is how'd Clive get Ifirt and who summoned him
Me. It was all me.
