Hitting a d/f+2 on counter hit gives standing status for 13 frames from the point at which you gain control of Kazuya. If you cannot fit your EWGF in that space, you don't get a full launch. That means the execution time has to be 13 frames.

No. The system's effect is largely universal in the run, better frame data, etc. But each gets a unique feature e.g. Jun's new moves that drain her health no longer take any. All point to a short time where they are aggressive, cause it drains fast outside of combat. As in if you are hitting or being hit when it is active the meter doesn't drain. Including on block.
I love the idea of a fighting game that's trying to appeal to new players just straight-up buffing oki.

I didn't KBD once in a ranked match and managed to get to Raijin before dropping the game. Learning basic defense like reacting on sweeps and sidestepping strings will get you further than any autistic tech that's only actually useful in professional tournaments.

What the frick are (You) even talking about? All newcomers in 6 looked good and were all visually fun and interesting. Alisa was super cute and was a nice reference to the classic Gundam series, Zafina was super sexo with her exotic assassin motive and unique poses, Bob is universally the coolest fat character ever put into a video game, Leo is a cool adventurer mixed with Rock Haowrd, and Lars is a very fun mix of a western military soldier with Japanese Super Sentai aesthetic. All T6 designs looked good and memorable.

These changes sound genuinely awful for the average player.
Tekken 8 is a predictable follow-up to a series that's never aimed particularly high, it may please casual gamers for a day or two but the stagnant ongoing series is definitely in the second tier of fighters way below Capcom or Arcsys games, and it's seriously getting old and tired. The lack of depth and subtlety and the emphasis on the offensive, rather than the defensive, puts this squarely two notches below the best in the genre, the shallow gameplay leaves much to be desired from a serious fighting game player. Like the prequels, Tekken 8 is geared towards casual gamers and anyone who's been exposed to more technical, more dynamic fighting games will quickly pass on tekken. Other top fighters, namely Street Fighter, Guilty Gear and King of Fighters games have advanced impressively in their latest installments; but the relic that is tekken just can't seem to evolve, furthermore many combos can be done simply by hitting 1-button, and the nearly "instant-kill" rage art moves are just laughably broken. Instead of supplying a proper fighting engine, matches in T8 seem to rely heavily on "who can get their Heat move off first". So many elements of the gameplay don't even require any sort of skill. In my book, Heat system also gets old very quickly. And in the end, it's more of a novelty or gimmick rather than an actual, thought-out fighting game mechanic. But hey, the casual crowd will be pleased!
If you want something a little more "button-masher-friendly," tekken might be your cup of tea.... Key word, might.

Imagine looking at this low IQ button mashing zero neutral KUSOGE and thinking, yeah this game is too defensive we need to make it more dumbed down and more aggressive.
Playing defensively wasn't exactly easy either. Now it'll probably be impossible. Any chump can probably use rage to do a 1 2 jab into a 40% rage combo.
It's because it's one mistake = button-mashed-combo-hell-death it causes round timeout levels of footsies because they are too scared to go in for anything.
But T7's problems run deep and wide. The input lag reduces it to only a couple of valid hit confirms, the complexity of the timings means there's an infinite hiding in every wall bounce, the slow animations with bizarre cancel timings and large roster make for an impossible set of match ups to learn... Just hit buttons and smile at the pretty particles because that's all it's good for.
I have a question for hardcore Tekken players:
How do you guys feel about having to watch the Rage Art animation up to 10 times per game?
Because as a casual player that shit really gets tedious fast when you see it coming every time one of the 2 guys is low on health, they even removed rage drives so there's basically no mixups.
If you've watched the gameplay previews Jun has several of Asukas moves. Yes, I know other Tekken characters share moves and that doesn't mean Asuka won't eventually come back as DLC, but there's no way they're going to have that overlap in the base roster when they have so many other options. If you're lucky Asuka will be Season 2 or 3 DLC.

Just because you can't launch it doesn't mean you can't punish it properly. Plus you can use your own heat to punish harder. That's probably why they changed it.
If the Heat activation launches and it's -13f or faster it's a non issue, they may just be forcing players to use Heat to punish certain moves rather than relying on normal launchers.
I don't see why you're optimistic about those 3 not having the same issue. On the other hand, only Lili has a chance of being in the base roster, and Josie/Zafina are going to be in Season 7 DLC or never evers, so you've got that going for you.
But Ling has the exact same issue as the other two, her face just looks like a butterball. Her cheeks have no definition or shape, it's just a flat mass. Compare how the female faces look to the males, who have actual definition and angular features and the difference should be obvious. For some reason Tekken always phones it in when it comes to the girls, they never take the time to model them well. Compare the Tekken 8 girls faces to say, Soul Calibur 6 girls faces and the differences should be obvious.

Get the frick out, I want the girls to look good, not like fricking Kimberly from SF6. The issue is that right now they just have not put in the effort on their facial features. Just compare them to the males, with Kazuya or Paul you can see so much detail and it is fricking beautiful, each one looks distinct with clear curvature and definition on their cheekbones, jawline, everything.
Yet when you look at the girls they don't have this at all, you can't even see their cheekbones, their jaws are not properly formed and the entire face just looks like this round, buttery mass without any real definition. It's garbage and the Tekken devs should be called out for how lazy they are when it comes to modeling their females. It wouldn't surprise me if they're still just ripping the male model and making the bare minimum changes to it with how the girls look in T8 so far.

I just want their faces to have actual definition and features like every other fighting game character made in the last ten years. Their faces have no curvature or defined shape, they legit just look like a fleshy ball with nose and eyes painted onto them, it's particularly obvious in their cheeks. You cannot name a fighting game that has worse modeled faces for its females, except maybe NRS, and even those have defined features, it's just that they're ugly as sin.
And you think Claudio is in the base roster why? He was supposed to have something to do with Xiaoyu yet now her story doesn't even mention him, that's not a good sign he's going to be around in the initial version of the game.
This is exactly what I'm talking about, look at the degeneration here, T5 Lili had actual care put into her eyes, jaw, cheeks, everything, and by T7 she has virtually on distinct features at all and the exact same indistinct butterface that I was pointing out with the T8 girls. Which is an issue I thought they would've fixed, not made worse with the new game, but instead it seems they put all their effort and work into modeling the males and barely put any time at all into the girls.
I hope there's a secret evil lurking behind, Kazuya can't be the final boss AGAIN. The best Tekken final bosses are the ones not part of the fricking Mishima family, well except Jinpachi, he was cool.
Don't be disingenuous, Kazuya was possessed by Devil in 2 but it was Kazuya nonetheless, and in Tekken 7 he is the Final Boss of the Story Mode, a complete new version of Devil Kazuya who he has full control of since Tekken 4, Kazumi is the Final Boss of the Arcade version/mode.
The Jack series being rebranded each new Tekken sure is confusing, technically there has been one Jack since Tekken 5, the one who Jane rebooted the memories of the destroyed Jack-2 inside of it.
I like that we have been essentially playing as the same Jack since Jack-2. I find Jane growing up and getting into robotics so she could revive the one that saved her life as a child very sweet.
To be fair SF changes a lot from each numbered iteration anyway, it was just that 5 also neutered character movesets for no real reason
Tekken hasn't had that big change between games for a while now although maybe they are messing with movesets too much as well (although imo by Tekken 7's latter seasons everyone felt too overtuned and homogenous due to constant buffs making everyone pretty well-rounded everywhere for the most part, so perhaps this shakeup is needed)

You're right, but the new changes don't really suggest any healthy change. They really weren't lying that aggression was buffed, but defence was also nerfed way more than anyone thought. There may be more changes we aren't privy too yet. But as it stands I can't see how this doesn't create either hyper aggression, or make any interaction so deadly players engage even less.
Same can be said about a similar Chinese girl in another fighting franchise: Leifang. Out of all the DOA girls she was really mid in the earlier titles. Now she's a top babe.

Hitting a d/f+2 on counter hit gives standing status for 13 frames from the point at which you gain control of Kazuya. If you cannot fit your EWGF in that space, you don't get a full launch. That means the execution time has to be 13 frames.

No. The system's effect is largely universal in the run, better frame data, etc. But each gets a unique feature e.g. Jun's new moves that drain her health no longer take any. All point to a short time where they are aggressive, cause it drains fast outside of combat. As in if you are hitting or being hit when it is active the meter doesn't drain. Including on block.
You just know that every DLC and top tier character will have a random ass I9 high ch launcher that counter hit launches which is what magic 4 does

Alisa was super cute and was a nice reference to the classic Gundam series, Zafina was super sexo with her exotic assassin motive and unique poses, Bob is universally the coolest fat character ever put into a video game, Leo is a cool adventurer mixed with Rock Haowrd, and Lars is a very fun mix of a western military soldier with Japanese Super Sentai aesthetic. All T6 designs looked good and memorable.

Tekken 8 is a predictable follow-up to a series that's never aimed particularly high, it may please casual gamers for a day or two but the stagnant ongoing series is definitely in the second tier of fighters way below Capcom or Arcsys games, and it's seriously getting old and tired. The lack of depth and subtlety and the emphasis on the offensive, rather than the defensive, puts this squarely two notches below the best in the genre, the shallow gameplay leaves much to be desired from a serious fighting game player. Like the prequels, Tekken 8 is geared towards casual gamers and anyone who's been exposed to more technical, more dynamic fighting games will quickly pass on tekken. Other top fighters, namely Street Fighter, Guilty Gear and King of Fighters games have advanced impressively in their latest installments; but the relic that is tekken just can't seem to evolve, furthermore many combos can be done simply by hitting 1-button, and the nearly "instant-kill" rage art moves are just laughably broken. Instead of supplying a proper fighting engine, matches in T8 seem to rely heavily on "who can get their Heat move off first". So many elements of the gameplay don't even require any sort of skill. In my book, Heat system also gets old very quickly. And in the end, it's more of a novelty or gimmick rather than an actual, thought-out fighting game mechanic. But hey, the casual crowd will be pleased!
If you want something a little more "button-masher-friendly," tekken might be your cup of tea.... Key word, might.

Playing defensively wasn't exactly easy either. Now it'll probably be impossible. Any chump can probably use rage to do a 1 2 jab into a 40% rage combo.
It's because it's one mistake = button-mashed-combo-hell-death it causes round timeout levels of footsies because they are too scared to go in for anything.
But T7's problems run deep and wide. The input lag reduces it to only a couple of valid hit confirms, the complexity of the timings means there's an infinite hiding in every wall bounce, the slow animations with bizarre cancel timings and large roster make for an impossible set of match ups to learn... Just hit buttons and smile at the pretty particles because that's all it's good for.
Just double the HP bar and this problem is fixed. Dragon Ball fighting games figured this out long ago.

How do you guys feel about having to watch the Rage Art animation up to 10 times per game?
Because as a casual player that shit really gets tedious fast when you see it coming every time one of the 2 guys is low on health, they even removed rage drives so there's basically no mixups.
intermediate players don't spam rage art every time so we don't have to watch it that often

If you've watched the gameplay previews Jun has several of Asukas moves. Yes, I know other Tekken characters share moves and that doesn't mean Asuka won't eventually come back as DLC, but there's no way they're going to have that overlap in the base roster when they have so many other options. If you're lucky Asuka will be Season 2 or 3 DLC.
Yoshi is a good bet but they'll show more than 1 character.

Just because you can't launch it doesn't mean you can't punish it properly. Plus you can use your own heat to punish harder. That's probably why they changed it.
If the Heat activation launches and it's -13f or faster it's a non issue, they may just be forcing players to use Heat to punish certain moves rather than relying on normal launchers.
I really don't think this is that big a deal, you should still be able to punish that and they'll be at low health when they have access to it anyway.

But Ling has the exact same issue as the other two, her face just looks like a butterball. Her cheeks have no definition or shape, it's just a flat mass. Compare how the female faces look to the males, who have actual definition and angular features and the difference should be obvious. For some reason Tekken always phones it in when it comes to the girls, they never take the time to model them well. Compare the Tekken 8 girls faces to say, Soul Calibur 6 girls faces and the differences should be obvious.

Get the frick out, I want the girls to look good, not like fricking Kimberly from SF6. The issue is that right now they just have not put in the effort on their facial features. Just compare them to the males, with Kazuya or Paul you can see so much detail and it is fricking beautiful, each one looks distinct with clear curvature and definition on their cheekbones, jawline, everything.
Yet when you look at the girls they don't have this at all, you can't even see their cheekbones, their jaws are not properly formed and the entire face just looks like this round, buttery mass without any real definition. It's garbage and the Tekken devs should be called out for how lazy they are when it comes to modeling their females. It wouldn't surprise me if they're still just ripping the male model and making the bare minimum changes to it with how the girls look in T8 so far.

I just want their faces to have actual definition and features like every other fighting game character made in the last ten years. Their faces have no curvature or defined shape, they legit just look like a fleshy ball with nose and eyes painted onto them, it's particularly obvious in their cheeks. You cannot name a fighting game that has worse modeled faces for its females, except maybe NRS, and even those have defined features, it's just that they're ugly as sin.
Zafina wants to team with Caludio, she should be part of the story at least.
And you think Claudio is in the base roster why? He was supposed to have something to do with Xiaoyu yet now her story doesn't even mention him, that's not a good sign he's going to be around in the initial version of the game.

This is exactly what I'm talking about, look at the degeneration here, T5 Lili had actual care put into her eyes, jaw, cheeks, everything, and by T7 she has virtually on distinct features at all and the exact same indistinct butterface that I was pointing out with the T8 girls. Which is an issue I thought they would've fixed, not made worse with the new game, but instead it seems they put all their effort and work into modeling the males and barely put any time at all into the girls.

Technically, Kaz has never been the final boss. It was Devil in Tekken 2 and he hasn't been the final boss in any other game.
Don't be disingenuous, Kazuya was possessed by Devil in 2 but it was Kazuya nonetheless, and in Tekken 7 he is the Final Boss of the Story Mode, a complete new version of Devil Kazuya who he has full control of since Tekken 4, Kazumi is the Final Boss of the Arcade version/mode.

The Jack series being rebranded each new Tekken sure is confusing, technically there has been one Jack since Tekken 5, the one who Jane rebooted the memories of the destroyed Jack-2 inside of it.
I like that we have been essentially playing as the same Jack since Jack-2. I find Jane growing up and getting into robotics so she could revive the one that saved her life as a child very sweet.
Tekken is a brain dead casual masher and T8 is only leaning harder into that.

Tekken hasn't had that big change between games for a while now although maybe they are messing with movesets too much as well (although imo by Tekken 7's latter seasons everyone felt too overtuned and homogenous due to constant buffs making everyone pretty well-rounded everywhere for the most part, so perhaps this shakeup is needed)

You're right, but the new changes don't really suggest any healthy change. They really weren't lying that aggression was buffed, but defence was also nerfed way more than anyone thought. There may be more changes we aren't privy too yet. But as it stands I can't see how this doesn't create either hyper aggression, or make any interaction so deadly players engage even less.
