It literally already fulfills the slowburn romero zombie looting survival scenario that one would buy this game for. Anything added to it is just cherries on top. Nobody bought this game in EA thinking "I'm buying this because I want le factions and le animals and if they don't give me that im gonna be MAD!!!!", no they bought it because Zomboid already is exactly what tons of people want out of a zombie game.

I mean they did, unfortunately all of the survivor npc mods on the workshop are laggy as frick and their AI is dogshit. That's not even the main issue though, AI survivors would be terrible for zomboid, it'd take away the whole isolation feeling from the game and eventually turn it into a glorified crafting game where the zombies barely exist and humans are the real enemies, just like all other zombie survival games.

In 2014, I stopped playing Project Zomboid because I was really hyped for NPCs and felt the game was too empty without them, and thought they were at most 1-2 years away. I thought maybe 5 years would be the absolute, most insane latest estimate for when they might add them. so lol. lmao, even.

I remember seeing a hard shill last year about this game, gave it a yarrr and immediately saw the fricking java icon. I still decided I'd give it the benefit of the doubt, and just uninstalled it at the end of the tutorial.
People were seriously trying to sell me this game as THE BIG AMAZINGLY ADVANCED FUN COMPLEX ZOMBIE GAME when this shit runs under a java machine.

If you enjoy the same 3 hours of gameplay on a loop with a dev team that thinks making the grind worse and shoe horning builds is the way forward. 20 hours and 200 hours of zomboid are about the same. Once you figure out you can just walk away the combat is solved outside human error. Even adding sprinters doesn't spice it up much. You will get bored. Mods only do so much. It's a lake that's an inch deep.
