Switch Pro was an overall improvement but the dpad sucks

I honestly don't understand how the Switch Pro controller's Dpad made it to production. Some fanboys like to pretend it's okay, but it's seriously awful. I love so many things about the controller, but, especially if you've been using a good d-pad recently, it just stands out so much and feels like shit. I hope Nintendo revises it or releases a similar controller but with a good D-pad for "Switch 2".
(I also don't understand how Microsoft ended up making such a great Dpad for the Series X, cheap, "core controller". It's like these companies switched places when it comes to Dpads)

It's genuinely a factory inconsistency thing. My Switch Pro controller has an UNUSABLE d-pad, and others I've tried are the same, but some of my friends have one that actually feels nice and not totally fricked up. So people defending it most likely got lucky and don't realize how bad most of them are.

I’ve had two (trade-in for a new one) and they both have had weird d-pads. The inventors of the D-Pad currently produce one of the worst ones on the market, like even this Logitech I got surpasses it.

If I remember right, the launch d-pads are all insanely bad but when they started making the Xenoblade 2 controllers, they started making them better. I think they're still just okay at best but it's still a lot better than early d-pads.

priced out ever since the wii u died and were already overpriced when wii u was a thing
weird layout + no analog triggers might filter you from using it for a lot of traditional/modern games
also apparently doesnt do inputs over wired? not sure if that one is true

Pros: It's the greatest controller ever made.

Cons: You cannot use it wired on PC. One job, Nintendo. One fricking job.

I long for the days of Splatoon 1. The GamePad analog placement just felt so nice and natural after decades of dual analog controllers just not feeling right to me.

Don't know why you quoted me, I said digital triggers are the best part about the controller. Analog triggers are the biggest meme in all of gaming.

I actually really liked using claw grip to control the camera with index finger, instead of the face buttons. I played a bunch of games with this ages ago and it was awesome. The sticks also don't drift

    The d-pad was fricking shit
So many people complain about mushy Nintendo d-pads starting with the gamecube but I hardly saw people complain about this one

Maybe I've never understold this whole "good dpad" thing or all the complaints surrounding them since I didn't have an NES or SNES, but I'll say that the N64 dpad seemed stiff and awful and useless to me as a kid. The GameCube dpad was tiny and felt like some sort of auxiliary component that was irrelevant. The Wii Remote was the same size as the GameCube dpad, it felt better, and it felt like a relatively equal input with everything else.

I'm comparing the Wii U Pro and Switch Pro controllers right now and the dpads feel pretty much identical. Between the Wii U GamePad and Pro controllers, the GamePad's is softer while the Pro's is clickier.

my Wii U Pro d-pad isn't even slightly mushy, it has about the same clickiness as my DualSense's d-pad

Best stick and button placement, Playstation lovers know the D-Pad + face buttons are really comfy for hours on end (all 7 hours) but can cope with the sticks as they can claw the grips and LR1 and LR2 buttons.

This thing here proves symmetrically works when you can rest your thumbs on the sticks and rolling your thumb on the dpad and face buttons is comfy.
However while this does have 80 hours of Battery life the negatives are easy, no rumble, no analog (make the L and R buttons analog like the Gamecube and Leave ZL ZR alone for shooters), Gyro for those that can adapt with it, and it be a good controller for all.

Also Steam Deck friends wish it had a secondary controller with all that featureset would be sold out.
