The rework was fricking moronic because it's fundamentally broken as a gameplay mode, you can't fix it. It needs to be remade from the ground up to either be fun or competitive.
The rework works for the 2 actual PvP modes (RW/CC) and shows that the intent was to give you tools for actual fights. Frontline is, always has been, and always will be the worst PvP mode that exists in the major MMO space, and there is nothing you as a player can do in the mode that rewards precision play other than being a Ninja and chain-killing enemies in teamfights.

I play on Chaos, and I gotta say there really isn't that many premades around. I checked out the OCE servers when they opened up travel to it, and the amount of coordination and premades in the first few matches I played were just ridiculous compared to anything happening on Chaos alone. That made me think that NA and JP players probably have a very different frontlines experience compared to EU Chaos. You probably have way more premades than us

It is completely precluded from being one of the best by the keychain being welded to the loop instead of actually hanging off on a chain. I know why this is, it looked like shit to have a completely static chain and keychain attached so they nixed the chain. Since Dawntrail's benchmark has physics on the tassel for SAM's katana and some other weapons, my final cope is that Revolver gets updated to have its keychain.
There seems to be some plodding pokes at it taken as far back as ARR with an unused version of Odin's set that had a cape (and the used version for players mounted on Sleipnir as a FATE boss) but that was probably shelved that long ago because the PS3's RAM was awful. Most recently 6.1 added an Odin set that did have a rigged cape but my personal theory on why it was even added was some stuff got shuffled around by accident when rigging up physics for the graphics update and Odin's set was probably a test-bench for cape physics or just to test flowing cloth in XIV's new physics.
I'm talking about the frontlines specific changes, disabling borderlands, completely reworking fields of glory and the small adjustments they've been doing to the other maps.

They can be hit or miss. Some weapons benefit from having highly complimentary glows, where plenty of weapons just have a good base design that the dumb flashy glow effect takes away from it. I find that most weapons that work are the ones that are simple and aesthetically pleasing before the glow effect, and the glow serves to accentuate the original base, rather than being a complex design with bubbles or fire coming out of it.
The Ultimate weapons are awful, way too glowy
Some of the relics are good, a lot are also way too glowy or over the top in some other way
They got the glow just right with the criterion savage weps, just a shame it's locked behind dead content

Falling Angel is barely quoted and it's a different arrangement, Through the Maelstrom is only used for one phase and once again it sounds completely different and Heart of Stone is only stylistically similar to Under the Weight but it's a different song (if you want to hate on it hate it for being a ripoff of My Michelle instead, lmao), and the Omega remix was probably whipped up by someone on the team instead anyway, all of this amounts to a handful of callbacks when there's entire other section of soundtrack full of new music such as Away, Find the Flame and Ascension.

There's plenty of very goofy, silly shit if you do quests out of order, but they've never crossed the line of "character who died shows up in this sidequest, alive." Y'shtola is literally one of the only characters they CAN tease a death with.
But you CAN do them in any order. Imagine how jarring it would be if Estinien had a tragic, dramatic death in Dawntrail and someone thought "I'm going to try leveling Dragoon now" only to then have a bunch of Job quests with a living Estinien. I do genuinely think they would go to lengths to avoid those kinds of situations, and the only way to definitively solve it is to do what they did with Crystal Tower and make it mandatory. If you go into the Endwalker finale and they're talking about getting refined Adamantite, Allisae doesn't mention the coils if you didn't do coils. Because if you didn't that piece of optional content, it didn't happen in your story yet.

He's talking about the theory that npcs that have been in sidecontent can't get killed off, because then you could see them die in the MSQ, go back to do that sidecontent and they'd mysteriously come back to life.
Which I'm not sure has ever actually been said to be an actual reason by the devs.

I do understand that, you've got dumb shit like jobber Ascians running around in the Summoner questline, potentially after the death of Zodiark. Doing the Summoner post-ShB role quest thing after 5.5 means Arenvald makes a miraculous, short-lived recovery. Estinien in the DRG quests will be going on about keeping the Eye safe from Nidhogg, on top of forgetting you entirely. A couple quests take to you Tiamat's empty prison, only to trigger a cutscene where she's back in chains lamenting her eternal confinement, and then its empty again once the scene is over. I get that its dumb and you should think of those quests as a time capsule of that expansion.
But I do think there is some kind of internal rule to at the very least strongly try to avoid having characters who die in MSQ remain available in side content. I'm probably forgetting some example, but I genuinely think any character whose involved in optional side content are a lot less likely to kick the bucket for that reason.

Chain almost feels like a placebo cooldown at times, 10% crit rate is nothing (but at least they're making it AOE now, thanks)

Yeah I get it, I just resent that the other healers have to be cucked because of it. Summoner exists alongside Black Mage, Samurai exists alongside Ninja/Monk. In the healer role we have Scholar which has a somewhat engaging healing toolkit (only relevant in savage+) but it still just refreshes a 30s dot and spams broil like a White Mage.

SGE doesn't do anything different DPS-wise it's just extremely braindead to play because there's no cost to healing cooldowns and you have a gapcloser
I still can't believe they advertised EW on "job quest npcs will get to participate in the MSQ!" and of all fricking npcs to leave out, they left Y'mhitra.
Job Quests take place in the same time period as the expansion their level correlates with, when they take place specifically is unknown because they can't co-exist with the plot but are still canon somehow.
The cope is that any job quest you do even after you've done the corresponding MQ is that you already did all the quests and anything you see is a memory of past events

You think you want an evasion tank, but you don’t. Argent Tournament era WoW had tanks that would dodge/parry the majority of boss hits, so the fights were tuned so three direct hits would kill you. A lot of wipes just happened due to RNG.

If I could design the lvl 100 whm ability, it would 1.5 min cooldown spell that would put a buff on the entire party for 6 seconds, that any damage taken during those seconds would be applied as a dot to them over the next 18 seconds. Basically a way to deal with giga raid wides that’s not just shields.

The rework works for the 2 actual PvP modes (RW/CC) and shows that the intent was to give you tools for actual fights. Frontline is, always has been, and always will be the worst PvP mode that exists in the major MMO space, and there is nothing you as a player can do in the mode that rewards precision play other than being a Ninja and chain-killing enemies in teamfights.

I play on Chaos, and I gotta say there really isn't that many premades around. I checked out the OCE servers when they opened up travel to it, and the amount of coordination and premades in the first few matches I played were just ridiculous compared to anything happening on Chaos alone. That made me think that NA and JP players probably have a very different frontlines experience compared to EU Chaos. You probably have way more premades than us

Why is Revolver still one of the best gunblade glams in the game?
It is completely precluded from being one of the best by the keychain being welded to the loop instead of actually hanging off on a chain. I know why this is, it looked like shit to have a completely static chain and keychain attached so they nixed the chain. Since Dawntrail's benchmark has physics on the tassel for SAM's katana and some other weapons, my final cope is that Revolver gets updated to have its keychain.

There seems to be some plodding pokes at it taken as far back as ARR with an unused version of Odin's set that had a cape (and the used version for players mounted on Sleipnir as a FATE boss) but that was probably shelved that long ago because the PS3's RAM was awful. Most recently 6.1 added an Odin set that did have a rigged cape but my personal theory on why it was even added was some stuff got shuffled around by accident when rigging up physics for the graphics update and Odin's set was probably a test-bench for cape physics or just to test flowing cloth in XIV's new physics.

They can be hit or miss. Some weapons benefit from having highly complimentary glows, where plenty of weapons just have a good base design that the dumb flashy glow effect takes away from it. I find that most weapons that work are the ones that are simple and aesthetically pleasing before the glow effect, and the glow serves to accentuate the original base, rather than being a complex design with bubbles or fire coming out of it.
The Ultimate weapons are awful, way too glowy

Falling Angel is barely quoted and it's a different arrangement, Through the Maelstrom is only used for one phase and once again it sounds completely different and Heart of Stone is only stylistically similar to Under the Weight but it's a different song (if you want to hate on it hate it for being a ripoff of My Michelle instead, lmao), and the Omega remix was probably whipped up by someone on the team instead anyway, all of this amounts to a handful of callbacks when there's entire other section of soundtrack full of new music such as Away, Find the Flame and Ascension.

Because if you didn't that piece of optional content, it didn't happen in your story yet.

Nanamo is in the level 50 CUL quest regardless of your story progress. Sure, she wasn't actually dead, but we didn't know that until HW.

That makes no fricking sense, those took place before DT. When Papalymo died they didn't go back and write him out of the plot, how the hell do you think death works?
He's talking about the theory that npcs that have been in sidecontent can't get killed off, because then you could see them die in the MSQ, go back to do that sidecontent and they'd mysteriously come back to life.
Which I'm not sure has ever actually been said to be an actual reason by the devs.

I do understand that, you've got dumb shit like jobber Ascians running around in the Summoner questline, potentially after the death of Zodiark. Doing the Summoner post-ShB role quest thing after 5.5 means Arenvald makes a miraculous, short-lived recovery. Estinien in the DRG quests will be going on about keeping the Eye safe from Nidhogg, on top of forgetting you entirely. A couple quests take to you Tiamat's empty prison, only to trigger a cutscene where she's back in chains lamenting her eternal confinement, and then its empty again once the scene is over. I get that its dumb and you should think of those quests as a time capsule of that expansion.
But I do think there is some kind of internal rule to at the very least strongly try to avoid having characters who die in MSQ remain available in side content. I'm probably forgetting some example, but I genuinely think any character whose involved in optional side content are a lot less likely to kick the bucket for that reason.

I did summoner sidequests after having already completed 6.0 MSQ and it was goofy seeing the original ascians flying around in black robes and laughing evilly after I've already defeated both Zodiark and the Endsinger.
Tbf with that particular case, the ascians in the SMN quests aren't actually in on the story at all, those are the big fricking losers that the REAL ascians recruited as disposable agents. It's not completely inconceivable that even now there are still a bunch of masked goofers messing shit up elsewhere.

Shiva EX can be done after HW. The quest explicitely says Ysayle is the one who resummoned Shiva as well, so it can't be handwaved as someone else taking her place.

Job Quests take place in the same time period as the expansion their level correlates with, when they take place specifically is unknown because they can't co-exist with the plot but are still canon somehow.

You think you want an evasion tank, but you don’t. Argent Tournament era WoW had tanks that would dodge/parry the majority of boss hits, so the fights were tuned so three direct hits would kill you. A lot of wipes just happened due to RNG.

If I could design the lvl 100 whm ability, it would 1.5 min cooldown spell that would put a buff on the entire party for 6 seconds, that any damage taken during those seconds would be applied as a dot to them over the next 18 seconds. Basically a way to deal with giga raid wides that’s not just shields.

The problem is that it's broken, there's a tank in another MMO that has this core mechanic and they've been a challenge to balance because they just don't die to damage spikes

Basically it would a problem if they gave it to one tank. But I’m suggesting they give it to WHM/AST, so it wouldn’t effect tank balance. And currently shield healers are better able to deal with massive raidwides, so it would merely add parity within healing.

Savage content is not a good gauge on if a healer is difficult or not. I would argue standard duties are and any time there's a sage, the tank will spend most of the time dead because they're forced into using all mits and sages refuse to fricking heal.
