The 2B stockings are too modern and don't match the Roman style of the top. The cash shop boots don't match for the same reason.

Every dungeon is a hallway, having alternate paths like ARR did made them more interesting.
that's unfortunately a problem with the playerbase that the devs just decided to enable. even back when ARR was all we had, people would still blow right through on the optimal route because they want to get in and get out. You'd have to ask to go tour the rest of the rooms. Eventually the devs just went "they're gonna create a hallway out of this anyway, may as well cut down on development time." I'm not saying that makes me happy, just that it is a bed somewhat of our own making.
I think this is a game design failure more than anything. In ARR you'd get exp per mob you killed in a dungeon, so clearing everything out had some sort of benefit. If they'd created a good enough reward for exploration players wouldn't beeline towards the end. The XIV playerbase is entirely reward driven.
I had forgotten they removed it. I remember grabbing the optional mobs in dungeons like the marlboro seeds in Aurum Vale for extra exp. There's not really a point anymore.
Yeah, I was a tank and I'd lead my party around every corner so we could squeeze out every bit of exp and grab every chest. Dungeon enemies are just trash packs now that you're obligated to kill two of before getting to a boss. Variant was a great way to shake up the dungeon formula, but MSQ dungeons feel stale and they only got worse with optimization for literal single player bots.

I really don't think it was ever about them. It was about japs who don't want to go into party finder on jobs that are perceived as outsiders or suboptimal, everything in this game is to enable you to play any job with any group. Screencap this: in 7.0 every healer will be able to cast shields or regens by choice.

I was just doing them. I like to think I'm a decent TT player + a bit of luck. I got those cards kinda rather quickly.
Easiest way is to get fc mates to throw for you. You get more points for unique opponents, and against "stronger" decks. Get them to build the meta decks but played wrong

You're delusional if you are claiming that XIV leveling is more miserable than Lineage 2. Have you ever leveled a fricking healer in that game? You don't fricking play shit, you stand semi-afk while your party levels you and buff them once every 15 minutes and then go back to sitting on your ass. There isn't a single mmo game whose combat feels good, because they all have to deal with the fact that they are massively online multiplayer games that cannot afford having overly complex client-server interactions. WoW is the least worst of them due to excellent tickrate and snappy response times on ability activation, but ultimately WOW is still a tab target mmo, just like all the rest barring shit like Black Desert, but Black Desert is trash.

FFXIV is one of the most pathetically easy games to level though. The game throws exp at you for literally everything.

I don’t think the game is all that ban-happy. I’ll know for certain in 2 weeks, but I’m frequently obnoxious and I’ve never been warned. I don’t talk about IRL shut tho.
It entirely depends on whether or not somebody bothered to report you. Reporting someone is involved enough that someone who's mildly peeved at you would look at the process and decide it's not worth it. Somebody sufficiently mentally ill (i.e a good chunk of the playerbase) could frick you over though.

SMN being a simpler phys ranged, kaiten removal, all the removed positionals in EW are common complaints stemming from the broader complaint of job design being boring/homogenized. The fact that DRGs are terrified for their rework kind of supports that it's not just an anxiety that healers and dark knight players have
more people talk about summoner actually summoning now than they do its simplicity, actually i rarely ever see anybody outside of Ganker complain about summoner losing its dots, that's usually scholars still opining for stormblood

But as someone that does agree with the SMN complaint I don't think it's about dots at all t's the lack of decision making and the high number of instant casts that make it kind of boring, it's easy and accessible, but boring because there's so little you can do to optimize and basically no pitfalls. I think if Pictomancer is mentally stimulating that'd help since only half the casters instead of 2/3rds would be braindead

This is more a result of the potential to lose a lot and gain little.
I'm both excited and apprehensive. I'd love a good rework that favors jumping/leaps more. But DRG is also currently in the best spot it has been in for a long time, running like a well-oiled machine.
There is stuff to gain, but there is also a lot to lose, and that's what breeds anxiety.

No game has a worse leveling experience than KR grinders, you liar. You don't "learn the ins and outs of your class" in those games or whatever it you said in another comment, you just grind the same dungeons or field mobs for hours. Yes, a lot of the FFXIV leveling experience is traveling and cutscenes, but would you really rather have the leveling experience just be running Copperbell over and over again?

I would prefer that over "walk, click npc, walk, click other npc, teleport, click three shiny spots on map, teleport, talk to og npc, quest complete, repeat for 700 hours", yes.
Again, you're full of shit. I just recently leveled an alt. If you're just clicking things and not reading the text or watching the cutscenes, it doesn't take long at all to get to endgame, and a far greater percentage of your playtime will be spent in combat.

in the korean games the main point is the grinding but there's also things like competing for grind spots with enemy factions so you get pvp action keeping the game dynamic.

The only mmo I've ever er liked was Runescape and that got old eventually. Not the zoomie ~~*old-school RS*~~ that isn't even old-school RS but the actual Runescape 2 I played back in middle school and some of high school. Other than that the genre is fricking dogshit. The new classes genuinely look boring. They could have made Pictomancer mildly interesting but it's just a Black Mage with bad graphics. Viper was never going to be interesting no matter how they spun it. The new ones should have been Corsair and Geomancer.

I miss job complexity, I miss damage types mattering more and creating good party synergy, I miss actually difficult story duties (I cleared OG Steps of Faith on release day and the fact that they nerfed it into oblivion before removing it entirely in favor of a story instance will forever be a huge L in my book), I miss having more damage buttons to push on healers, I miss stance dancing on tanks, I hate that Bard was completely invalidated by Dancer, and while they have long since fixed it I still haven't forgiven them for 3.0 Bard. I love this game, and because I love it I'm mad that some things I loved about it no longer exist or have been dumbed down to enable shitters to skate by without learning how to play the game.
2.55 was one of the wildest parts in this games history I think. OG Steps of Faith was the frickin best and then the first "several cutscenes will play in sequence" was crazy back then. The worst thing SE does is nerf difficult fights, same thing happened to Thunder God in Orbonne... now he's a shell of what he once was.

Anyone can do everything at the same efficacy has never been good design.

The game has been showing its age for such a long time. So many things they cant implement or fix because of "spaghetti code". It can hardly be called a job system. There's no customization or reward for leveling multiple jobs like in FFV (a SNES game). Even XI did it better with subjobs. XIV's implementation is more like picking a TF2 character. Oh wait TF2 has all kinds of weapons you can get to customize your experience so XIV's job system can't even live up to that.

FF XV combat is by far the worst in the series. The fact that when you reach 0 HP instead of dying you can just use a potion to recover health trivializes the game completely. You don't even need to use Phoenix Downs, you can literally just bring 99 of the cheapest potions for every fight and that's it. In fact, on the late game fights where the monsters deals a lot of damage, they will chunk your HP in 1 or 2 hits anyway even if you heal to full, so the most efficient strategy is to use the cheapest potion on a character when you reach 0 HP. Then you heal a little, then you take 1 hit and go back to 0, then you use another potion, rinse and repeat until you killed the boss mindlessly attacking him. Even Omega, the super boss of the game, can be killed that way. And even if you bother to dodge attacks with Noctis, your NPC party members will absolutely keep dying, so you will have to spam potions anyway, there is no point in trying to dodge anything.

Unless you're an ERP troon or autismpilled collectionist you can essentially do 80-90% of content that's relevant to you over ALL the expansions thus far within two years while playing this as your main mmo so the moment this happens you're left with utterly predictable and dogshit drip fed content most of which either doesn't apply to you or you again beat it within a week or two. WoW has it's fair share of dogshit flaws but at least they have more scalable midcore content and reinvent the wheel (for better or worse) every year or two. Endwalker in particular was such a shit expansion content-wise that the moment post-2020 player exhausted content like Bozja, Eureka, old Extremes, old Savage raids, 4-5 ultimates there was no more content that keeps you logged in or paying the sub unless you like ERP'ing with catgirls.
I leveled WoW from 1-110 in Legion without doing a single dungeon or talking to a single person (besides a B.Elf during Valentine's), and outleveled the MSQ 1/3 the way through each zone. Private servers are preddy fun tho. also I was a femPandaren.

I got banned from the official forums for asking why can’t we add our alt chars as friends. Because I said that RMT abuse the FC chests, not the mailing system which is heavily limited. So the ban reason was “promoting RMT”.
Thankfully come 4.1 I learned of a now patched exploit to friend my alt. So my two chars have private homes they share to each other to this day.

Played for 2 years, mostly pvp. Managed to meet alot of friends and some have stayed with me for over 4 years now. Good thing about the game is the worldbuilding, the primals/summons, and the cosmetics. The gameplay is absolute dogshit 1 2 3 combo and the people are a bunch of pseudo intellect LGBTQ that spam chat with "Congrats on your HRT". I went top 100 pvp in a few seasons in Feast and CC and the schizos up here in this clique are ridiculous. Did 1 ultimate and 1 savage tier and the fact that you have to sit down and "study" for a game is the most moronic shit. After u know what to do, combat is so scripted that people make macros so that you always have a "perfect" rotation. 1 out of 5 people are troons with "they/them" in their discord when you meet up for raid vc.

I loved this change so much. Half the time people would actively avoid your asylum before because they thought it was a boss ability…. At 90
Star, Soil and Asylum being the size of the arena is a direct consequence of the bosses being humongous. Endwalker bosses both have giant hitboxes and most mechanics resolve by being max melee, making stuff like baby star useless.

I found a podcast about a veteran guiding a sprout through the story, and being a sprout myself, I began listening to their episodes as I played through each patch. They were serviceable at best, but the sprout sounds like a commiefornian going on sjw tangents and the veteran keeps forcing cringey jokes all the time.
I made it as far as stormblood until I couldn't stand them anymore.
Anyways, I just found out that the solution I was searching for all along was browsing through old State of the Realm (the Mr.Happy xiv podcast) episodes and listening to their patch spoilercasts.. Not only are the guests far less cringey but they also give me a good idea on what the community was speculating and theorizing at the time.

They also need to fix CC going through purify when you hit it to remove something but another CC animation had snapshotted before you had the buff. Probably just copy the Resolve system from SWTOR 1 to 1, the best CC chain protection in an MMO since it makes you immune at the start of the CC application encouraging you to react as fast as possible with your removal and punishes teams for spamming multiple CCs on one person at the same time.

The Garlemald stretches of Endwalker being dragged out into a full expansion would have tested my patience pretty badly. The only things we actually missed are a full Anima trial, maybe a Doomtrain trial that we technically already got in Stormblood, and a Varis trial that we did get in Shadowbringers.
