Varjo Aero had aspheric lenses in 2021
Pico 4 had them in 2022
PSVR2 came out in 2023. I know it takes a while to develop these kinds of things but man, would've been nice to have a high res oled headset with inside-out tracking and HDR that used fresnel lenses
Sony actually patented a fresnel design for this headset
>Sony actually patented a pancake design for this headset
if that's true, then it must be too costly for them and they didn't want it to got beyond $550
kinda disappointing
Nah not pancake
Fresnel. And they put them in the PSVR2. Here's hoping for the PSVR3 to be good? Wonder if they'll even bother considering how little support the PSVR2 got
Psvr 3 won't be until ps6. Is when ps6 is showcased, they don't also showcase psvr 3 (likely actually psxr ) then it will be a repeat. But liekly by then they need a consumer standalone xr to replace their physical media hardware since that is going to be eroded by xr in the very near future
Have you tried one? It's not like a Reverb Fresnel lens which blurs out passed the centre . Once you place your eyes in the right place in a PSVR2 the whole image is clear bar a little chromatic aberration fringe

Yeah I have
It's definitely better than the Samsung Odyssey Pls and Reverb G2 but I wouldn't say it's as clear as you described it. I found I was having to adjust it to get the sweet spot
I'm using a 3090 with a dedicated router and I still run into video compression issues. I would prefer to just plug into my pc but I've been told that besides the index and bigscreen there isn't much out there for native pc vr.
They work fine but you need a highb tolerance to tinker if you want full motion controls that are spot on. The download configuration get you far (far enough for most people) but if you're the type to nit pick you're gonna need some additional tinkering. Once you get a couple of games going it's pretty easy. It's just it was made by programmers so nothing about the interface is inviting
>>xbox starts supporting PC >>haha xbox ded
Bringing your games day one on PC is suicide, yes. >snoy adds support for PC
Selectively bringing some of your games to PC at some later point is a fair compromise. it's not going to kill the brand. >haha snoy won
VR is kinda dead to begin with so year trying to resurrect it in any way is a win.
Cheapest OLED headset you can get is a used Samsung Odyssey Plus or Pimax 5K XR (unless you wanna go back to the Quest 1 or some shit)
Pretty light and unlike the Index, uses inside out tracking. Also has better fresnel lenses
Headsets that use WMR like the Reverb G2 are on the way out too since Microsoft will remove Mixed Reality Portal on the next big Win 11 update
Hard to say about the games. Honestly this thing is hefty upgrade over Index as well as much cheaper, so it's the one I'd go for if I wanted a wired headset.
I don't know shit about VR or follow VR news beyond what I see on v and since this the thread has no replies it must not be very huge after all
it's a slightly big deal as if Sony actually goes through with this, a person wouldn't have to own two fricking VR headsets.
>release PSVR2
>stop supporting it less than a 1 year in
>Try to sell it as a PC accessory
i'm expecting the Sony wii u tablet to have PC support too
Would be a big deal if it didn't use fresnel lenses
It was so close to being perfect
pancake lenses kinda just came out, so i bet it wasn't on the table for them until it was too late to change it

If snoy doesn't frick it up I might buy one.
They will.
Lol sony just waived the white flag to PC for the next 3 years
Here we come Gran Turismo 7

Is psvr 2, 4k per eye? Legitimate quest5
No
2000x2040 per eye
Pretty interesting. Technically I'd be less cucked than with my Quest 3, but I don't think I can bear to go back to a wired headset.
Funny enough I wanted a wired headset. I've been using the Quest 2 and I've gotten tired of dealing with wireless desktop and oculus link
"Dealing with"? Virtual Desktop is rock-solid in my experience, what problem are you having with it?

Pick HEVC 10-bit, looks much cleaner. Almost perfect.
I'll try that. Thank you.
Too late, half of the world's population will be death by then.
I only care about this if i can play the RE VR games on my PC with my quest/Index otherwise it is pointless and i do not care
You already can, moron.
what with injector mods? arent those all fricked up?
No? They work fine.

Didn't realize this was about re. For all except 4 I think you just use the re specific ones
Google praydog, top result.

You couldn't be more pathetic
ESL Xbox troony being moronic again.

>Look at me, I am the Playstation now.
With PSVR2 coming to the PC, what's the chance they also bring their VR games to steam? any chance to play Astro on steam?
You can’t even play Astrobot on PSVR2.
Oh so PS VR games will come to PC?
If not then why? just get a Index instead or a cheap VR headset.

Forgot to add that the res is much higher on the PSVR2 than the index
