If you drift, you want to use carbines. Even shotguns for some stupid reason have a huge cof bloom while in the air.
Theres very few times where i'd think "yes i'd like to swap to an SMG now" as a light assault that don't involve me using the punisher impulse grenade launcher for memes.
Shotgun engi secondary lets you 24/7 keep an AMR on hand and not suffer.
I find ARs to be accurate enough at distance to not really want a scout rifle secondary but that's all in your particular tastes I guess.
Heavy secondary on heavy is great for VS, decent on TR, questionable but not bad on NC

I unlocked smg sec as my first ASP and it was kind of shit, maybe if you want to run shotgun and also have the ns7 for longer range or something it's ok.
I mean if you're ever in a pinch enough that you NEED to swap to your secondary, an smg would win out over most anything else. I'm not sure about equip times i thought they were all the same outside of attachments and heavy weapons but if not that's a pretty valid concern too
I think it's roughly twice as long to get the smg out than it is a pistol, punishing if you're like me and you rarely pull out your pistol unless your primary is out of ammo and it's quicker than reloading.
Depends heavily on the pistol, the 650ms equiptime on an SMG is abysmal compared to the 250ms of the Pilot, but if you're a Commie enthusiast its equiptime is 450ms, so if you're already able to handle that then it won't be too different running an SMG instead of it.
It lets you keep pushing without needing to reload your primary.
You have a second primary weapon to use when you run out of ammo on your carbine, which is a big problem as LA.
And of course you can use it to supplement a long range carbine so you're more versatile.

VS are so fricked balance-wise. They have a handful of overpowered bullshit guns, including all their directive weapons, and then a bunch of anaemic boring peashooters to pad out their list. Even "bad" NC or TR weapons like the A-Tross or Arbalest are still okay.
Plus the magrider manages to be simultaneously OP in some situations (mostly oshur and amerish) yet impossible to use for breaking a stalemate.

Pre-nerf goose (not OP in a 1v1 but OP against players worse than you), orion, serpent, maybe the canis depending how you look at it. Thinking primarily of the orion and the pre-nerf goose here. But then everything else is either basically the same as other factions (MAW, H-V45, terminus) or shit (every non-Orion non-MAW LMG, Pulsar, all the others nobody uses).
The whole of VS's balance was crutching on the goose/orion and their ability to attract sweaties looking for the meta LMG. Once the goose was gone a lot of them fricked off to the anchor/SAW and left the VS underpopped on most servers, plus the NC got the masthead and trawler.
VS having no A2G and no tank has always been a huge issue. No reason to play them anymore with Angled SAW and Butcher buffed. The population numbers don't lie.
Their A2G has been anemic since the very deserved PPA nerfs, but no reason to play them? No, more a case of their weird gimmicks that are ultra oppressive don't attract the ultra-sweats that make up the vast majority of the power players, so now that you aren't literally kneecapping your HA sweatfit farming by playing a faction other than VS, they are slightly more spreadout.
This is an actual valid reason, VS and TR both got shafted with the FSAMRs

They're not strictly bad, but they're either equivalent or slightly inferior to weapons on other factions. This is fine for most of the playerbase, but some on-meta sweaties care about it and nerfing their one toy makes them leave, which fricks over the rest of the VS.
The betel traded 5 bullets for a laser sight and flash hider, it basically wasn't nerfed.
And orion is a sidegrade to the mswr at best.

What's the verdict? Loved it on the t5 amc but on the cougar it didn't click because it's not a gun you're wanting to hipfire a lot which is where the ammo shines.

Great for drifter LA where accuracy doesn't matter anyway, inevitable leg shots gain a boost. Really sucks at peeking where headshots matter, definitely had numerous instances where not having kcap would have earned me a kill, but also had a lot of instances of like seeing some dude's feet through a doorway/weird arch and just blasting it which probably earned me a few more back.
I'm having trouble re-adjusting to the Kindred now after all that, kdr is fricking worse than usual. Definitely picked up some bad habits constantly aiming at the dick.

You probably have at least until the Halloween update for it to get gutted, then expect it to be anywhere from as useful as the Striker, (which is to say, perfectly fine but nothing special), to as useful as trying to shoot down a plane with a crossbow.
In a vacuum the masthead is fine and a nerf isn't at all needed, but 2-3 mastheads or more at a base causes insane exponential power jumps that cannot be balanced around. It was far more broken when it first dropped due to just about every NC engineer running it full time but despite being untouched the number of users has been falling off and it's become less of a nuisance. A lot of weapons are like this and I surprised something being over used to the point of community outrage hasn't happened more, at least outside of soltech.

If you're already in the outfit then maybe, but I'm not so sure they'd, for example, delete an inactive outfit just so you can use the tag for yourself.

I tried playing it multiple times and I still don't understand how you're supposed to use the nose gun. If you even just tap A or D you can hit 5 shots at most until your frisbee turns too far and you can't hit the enemy tank anymore. It's slow as shit except for turning where it's overtuned to the point of unusability. I'm not a good pilot but with the other aircraft I can at least make solid attempts attacking something. I'm doing better flying a solo Valk than this piece of shit.
Use precision frame for nose gun or find player base that has tower and skywall that covers entire roof, land on tower, switch to gunner and act like glorified turret

They have good infantry guns and that's it. Don't use the ES vehicles.
the only nso gun I like is the default lmg, the rest of them don't grab me. though I like accurate guns with low horizontal recoil even if it means low dps and bad hipfire, so maybe they're amazing in cqc or something.
Maxwell, CB X75, Newton, Harbinger are all great. Their pump shot also reloads better than other pumps. There's a couple more but those are the ones that stand out.
I feel genuinely untouchable whenever i use the X75, crazy gun.

No, NC is still the best overall and TR still has the best vehicles. VS has a couple of the best LMGs and some gimmicks, and NSO is complete garbage unless you use specifically the XMG 100 or Newton or you want to confuse people with your player model.

how to kit Harasser for maximum shenanigans? so far the BRRRRT gun seems to be my favorite in terms of being able to semi-reliably inflict damage on things while jerking around, but IDK. Halberd if you know your passenger/you can aim, that vulcan is pretty great otherwise. Kobalt is also good again if you can aim but you're literally useless against vehicles.

If you're TR, use the T7 Chaingun. If you're NC use any high capacity LMG with ammo bandolier. A harasser with your faction's basilisk or a basilisk on it will work too, or halberd. Engi AMRs, mana turret, and crossbow with explosive bolts do well also.

You can't one-tap any construction even with cortium bombs. Takes like 8+ cort bombs to down a silo I dont know I lost count at around 6 and theres a placement range limit for cortium bombs. I think it takes 2 or 3 for modules but again you wont be able to place the bombs directly next to eachother.
T7 chaingun I suggested because with the extended mag you can chew through two modules in one magazine in a very short period of time, very great for solo ripping apart bases just sneak around the outer walls and find one you can shoot between a crack, preferably a repair node first then go apeshit on the rest until someone shows up to stop you.

Nanoweave died so LA is fun as frick, theres finally viable anti-air on NC, NC got a busted sundie gun, fire damage is still broken, TR A2G got nerfed, basically all infant weapons got rebalanced with new attatchments, adren shield got nerfed, implants got a workover and theres a new one so noobs can jump good, a new continent showed up everyone seems to hate, gals can deploy now, ants can be sundies, and uuuh, theres water physics.
Its a hot take but i think the game is much better now. Its actually almost playable (even though NC basically has the best of everything)

Probably the best way is to be a Black person and go around sundy hunting during off hours, or hope to get prime time Oshur, since sundy's are in abundance there

C4 fairy probably the easiest, two rocklet mags and two c4 can take out a regular sundy, may need more if using deployment shield or blockade armor though
Blockade armor never gets used, deployment shield you will be spending most of your rockelets taking the shield out first. Definitely buy Typhoons for this as the damage increase is tiny but you need every little bit to help with that bullshit.
Also for weapons: Hunter QCX with explosive bolts can finish off flaming sundies pretty quick too and faster than reloading a rockelet
C4, Carbine with UBGL (UBGL can damage vehicles for a decent amount), typhoon rocklets, and Hunter QCX with explosive bolts.
Now every weapon and item you have can damage and kill sundies and of course, other vehicles.
don't forget buying an anniversary pack for 80 bucks for the anti tank knife

GR-22 is the best cqc assault rifle in the game, but the recoil is absolute cancer.
For long range you have Reaper or Vanquisher, the second one is severely underrated.

Ok I really don't have fun when i'm 100% solo. If I have a beacon buddy usually i'm fine. It just hurts to constantly fail. It sucks to watch 96+ lose to two squads doing a point hold. It sucks being the only fricker driving a bus to some fights. It also really sucks knowing every single even fight population wise, is going to result in a TR loss because of ten years of skill stacking on every faction but TR. Emerald TR is the team that would be getting autobalance in any other game

kpm is probably the best measure of skill (provided you aren't just cheesing)
However being good at the game doesn't make it more fun.
kpm doesn't mean anything it's easy to pad by only playing when there's good fights and depends who are you playing with. the best players that ever played the game, AC, never had players with those jacked up kpms but had the best shooters around. shots per kill, hits per kill and damage per shot are the only things that matter when determining skill

you can get an idea of how good you are by taking ivi score + ivi kd + kpm together, but there's so much random shit and so many 3rd world laggers/cheaters that you'll never truly know
the minimum numbers for "good" are about 900 ivi at 1 kpm btw
I don't necessarily stand by 900IvI either because selfconscious sweats will shoot terminals to pad accuracy which has a high weight in the IvI calc

you can tell when someone does that by looking at shots per kill and hits per kill and also damage per shot. never look at the raw accuracy stat. it's pretty noticeable when you see it

k/d measures how much you do per second, but at a certain point it stops being a measure of how many fights you win and starts being a measure of how little you die/how effectively you farm. chucking four grenades into a busy room and having no net effect on a fight otherwise is a great way to pad K/D but obviously doesnt represent "goodness". i try to track "usable resource per hour", which for me sits at around 250 certs, 200 merit, 40A7 and a handful of ISO. its not as easy to compare to other people, but it IS easy to tell if you've improved, it accounts for down time and unoptimal play from daily missions, and it encourages you to be able to buy shit and actually enjoy the game

I played the boat for a few hours and honestly, the thing is fine against air. Yes, it has no AA (unless you're NSO i guess), but it's beefy and mobile enough that ESFs and valks will struggle to meaningfully hurt you before you force them to frick off with palisade/basilisk/whatever fire. The real threats are the MBTs (especially magriders), who completely shit on corsairs.

it has squad spawn like the valk. randos in your squad can spawn directly into the available seats as long as you're in the same/a friendly hex, but it doesnt seem to have a deployable AMS function like sundies ants colossi or gals (as far as i can tell).
it does seem to have proxy lock S2A missiles at least. that could be pretty funny

i only logged in for patch day funsies but wont be continuing for now, the update did a number to my performance and i can no longer consistently reach 30fps in 1-12s, fingers crossed its just temporary. thankfully ill have a proper place to play before the end of the directive period, had to do the last one on said projector which is a pain since pc lacks controller support leaving just my lap and good balancing technique for mkb.

I finished one of my characters in a few hours but I had perfect conditions. It's still too grindy imo for the average player, last tier is 100 instead of 175 support ribbons though so it's cut down some at least. You can still water the plants too

the new lattice lines and the fact that we can now use the entire map, instead of just the 40% that is land, makes it feel more like the other continents.
the jump pads from the new boats give you new avenues of attack too
sure, everyone's just making boat zergs now because it's new and shiny, even if it gets you absolutely nowhere in an alert, but overall the continent feels much less lane-zergy
