D1 preferably, 2 is considered non-canon.
But at the same time D3 is a prequel game, so it's a-OK game to start with as well.
DoD games story leads to the original NieR, the Replicant. The Western release of it (Gestalt) is technically a PS3/360 exclusive, but the 2020 next-gen re-release / remake renders it obsolete.

one time I might not sperg out to demake issue of current era to this specific case,
but in the still, even a mythical good remake still does not render the original as obsolete if it had enough good stuff to be a meaningful title in the first place,
otherwise the only things that need remakes are bad games with potential to be redeemed like Ninja Gaiden 3 with Razor's Edge and how Dead Space 3 deserved before current tragedy

Kind of generic but it's refreshing these days
dragon's crown is not a ps3 exclusive, but it is sony exclusive
if you haven't played it, I highly recommend emulating the ps3 version
RPG mechanics in a beat 'em up may turn some people off, but I find them well implemented as you only need to worry about them when doing the truly challenging parts of the game (though it helps that I like games with similar mechanics, for example, Nioh)
the art and music are outstanding, and the gameplay is truly addictive
but ps3 has no games
