Slight resolution bump and moderately more powerful chip. Pancake lenses too I'm pretty sure. No reason to upgrade now imo if you're happy with the Quest 2

doesn't matter about the data over wifi. it's the latency of the decoding and encoding which is the issue. The higher the image quality you need to reconstruct the longer it takes to do. You can pump the network bitrate up to 900mbps in Oculus Tool but the headset falls apart , loses audio and lag goes to 90ms
Video over a wireless protocol requires encoding from a video card, and decoding on the headset. If you want native ask Zuck to include a dp port and use a cable.

In terms of wireless, I mean the wifi 7 standard is rated for up to 40 gbps, but I don't think real world applications will be that fast. Maybe wigig 2 but that's pretty dead in the water atm. And sadly the headset still needs to be able to decompress to image quickly enough for it to be useful.

VR headsets are not consumer friendly products, they are too expensive yet to be widely adopted like consoles, on top of that for the picture related you need to own a console, it doesn't make much sense to spend this amount of money just to use a VR headset, unless you either in debt or 1%.

Had PSVR worked on PC, and had sony allowed PCVR to work on playstation, thered be more VR players, thus more incentive to have developers to make games for it, snowballing it.
A new industry like VR is a seed, in the early days you need to nurture and babysit it to grow into something bigger. Only once it produces fruit and seeds can you start walling off your corners and fighting over turf.

People online say it's because of the resolution but it genuinely feels like an astigmatism, as if my eyes aren't focusing right. Are my settings wonky or do I just have to get used to it?
It's called the Vergence-Accomodation Conflict. Currently, almost all vr headsets have some form of it because of reprojection tbh.
I heard about the term but didn't look into it closely enough.

you need to set the correct distances from your eyes in 3 ways. the slider which moves them in and out, the knob that moves them forward and back, and the top strap which lets the whole headset go up and down on your head, which changes where your eyes are relative to the lenses
it only doesnt get many games because the videogame industry is about profit now instead of being as innovative as it used to be

First headset was before Alyx dropped and VR was still fresh. Second headset, Index, got for Alyx and as an upgrade over the first. Quest 2 got as a gift and almost never use. There was a decent clip of okay games at the beginning, but PCVR gets few compelling new releases at this point and the novelty has faded.
In the Quest3 gonna be game changing? I'm happy with my 2 but I really don't want to have to buy a fourth headset.
Slight resolution bump and moderately more powerful chip. Pancake lenses too I'm pretty sure. No reason to upgrade now imo if you're happy with the Quest 2

doesn't matter about the data over wifi. it's the latency of the decoding and encoding which is the issue. The higher the image quality you need to reconstruct the longer it takes to do. You can pump the network bitrate up to 900mbps in Oculus Tool but the headset falls apart , loses audio and lag goes to 90ms

Video over a wireless protocol requires encoding from a video card, and decoding on the headset. If you want native ask Zuck to include a dp port and use a cable.

In terms of wireless, I mean the wifi 7 standard is rated for up to 40 gbps, but I don't think real world applications will be that fast. Maybe wigig 2 but that's pretty dead in the water atm. And sadly the headset still needs to be able to decompress to image quickly enough for it to be useful.
Maybe if it has AV1 decoding? But I don't know if the XR2 gen 2 supports that, plus you'd need a care to do the encoding.

VR headsets are not consumer friendly products, they are too expensive yet to be widely adopted like consoles, on top of that for the picture related you need to own a console, it doesn't make much sense to spend this amount of money just to use a VR headset, unless you either in debt or 1%.

Why buy this, a limited VR system with low specs, when you can get a valve index or HTC which do more, are better, and have games? Heck even outside of games, PC VR lets you go deep into porn which is its own selling point the PSVR doesnt have
My major gripe with sony is if they really wanted VR to succeed, we need availability, affordability and of course, games. Making this playstation exclusive is moronic and is the literal exact opposite of what the industry needed. Had PSVR worked on PC, and had sony allowed PCVR to work on playstation, thered be more VR players, thus more incentive to have developers to make games for it, snowballing it.
A new industry like VR is a seed, in the early days you need to nurture and babysit it to grow into something bigger. Only once it produces fruit and seeds can you start walling off your corners and fighting over turf.
Also kek at releasing a fricking sequel to a headset no one bought, so the few who bought a PSVR1 feel gypped and the people who would buy a PSVR2 are going to wait for PSVR3+

Big issue with VR right now is how fragmented the market is for a new growing medium, and psvr2 ain't helping. Quest headsets with their exclusives, Apples thing is definetly a walled garden.
