CRT-LIGHTGUN SHOOTING-GAMES FROM THE 90s...
How to emulate them?
What options are there?
And why is a modded Wii the best and cheapest one?
**WIISTATION 3.0 IS OUT AND...**
I CANNOT BELIEVE MY OWN EYES!
I AM FINALLY PLAYING "RESIDENT EVIL - GUN SURVIVOR" FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER IN ENGLISH!
I GOT A PIRATE COPY OF THE JAPANESE VERSION OF THE GAME IN 1999, BECAUSE I HAD THE PSX GUN IN MY BIRTHDAY -I WAS 12. I FINISHED THE GAME BUT COULD NOT SAVE IT BECAUSE I CAN'T READ MOONRUNES.
THIS IS SIMPLY UNBELIEVABLE, I AM PLAYING CRT LIGHT GUN PSX GAMES ON A WII!!
USING THE WIIMOTE!
WTF, THIS IS INCREDIBLE!! WTF!!? HOW IS NO ONE ELSE FREAKING OUT!?!?!111!!ONE!!ELEVEN!!
sinden bros... our response?
No need for one. The wiistation not only has horrendous emulation lag but also the wiimote one on top of that.
When was the last time you used an updated WiiStation?
>let me tell you how lag free a emulator running on a 32bit 700mzh single core cpu is.
It isn't, you are peddling fairy tales
exactly
A Wiimote is not a lightgun, not even the same technology and not the same feel. You're using a different type of mouse.
>using the gun point blank
I used to be called a cheater for doing that with Hogans Alley
Just get a Sinden Lightgun, they're made for LCD screens.
They look cool, but they also look like they cost more than the Wii itself.
Also, I am running the PSX games through a Wii.. on a CRT.. so the LCD Gun might be moot even if I could afford it.
What's keeping ANYONE from just gutting a wiimote and putting it into an old lightgun shell?
This is also an option...
Done here:
After witnessing the Wiimote emulating PSX lightguns yesterday, I am considering printing this gun:
https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/gadget/cooler-wiimote-gun
I can do it locally with a cool rainbow/metallic plastic string. I wonder if it would be sturdy enough for actual play and couple drops here and there.
Kinda ugly (I'd print something to enclose the wiimote) but that trigger is a clever idea
You can also use the gun accessories from say older Sega/Nintendo consoles through the Wiimote with the Wii emulators, e.g. Snatcher CD on Genesis Plus GX.
What is the cat staring at?
She's staring at a human and pondering how can we be so stupid
cute cat
Kokoro Says Hi
Sweet kat
You make him blush. Orange.
he judges you because you gave him a gay weeb name
>gay weeb name
Kokoro, as in Heart/Spirit/Fire/Wind aka PSY(CHE).
It is meant to name the spiritual polarity, as opposed to matter, to PHYSIC.
It is a dual leitmotif in my lair (e.g. black cat clock; Goat Skull : Nietzsche Mortuary Mask)
My last cat was called Rumi, for similar reasons.
Curious fact: I thought cats were supposed to pick up a whole different "picture" from CRTs due to the refresh rates and signal:line processing. But he seems to react the same to shapes and signs both in the LED and CRT monitors.
reminder to filter tripgays
Leitmotif's are for music, moron.
Metaphors, HoW Do ThEy WoRk?!1!
That's rad. Thanks for the heads up.
cute kot
Personally, I find it easier to use emulators that use your mouse as a crosshair.
Also, if your Wii is Retro-compatible (it should), you can use the GameCube controller ports to attach a Bluetooth adapter and use your PS3/4/5 controllers to play PSX games using WiiStation.
Pic Related.
Also, pic-related will also let me use my 8bitdo Arcade Stick (Switch Edition) with my Wii to play MAME, PSX, SegaCD, PCEngine, etc.. SHMUPs !!!!!!
The Wii never ends to amaze me. This is was the future was supposed to be when we daydreamed about gaming in the 2000s
From my experience early Wiis with GCN controller ports have issues with the RAM alocation and causes 19 pauses on Wiistation (last time i used it on a normal wii)
>performative rage
Mame is fricking useless on Wii, and why would you wanna use a Wii for playing PS1, GET A PS1 AND MODCHIP IT.
I think this one will be the bomb.
>i forgot the link like a jackass
This ones, check them out. Pondering getting one.
The revolver looks 100% Borderlands Kino
My Grandad had a Spanish .357 Magnum 9-Rounds Revolver, and we live in the Tex-Mex Border.
I want this.
I. NEED. IT.
KEK
By the way, forgot to mention that WiiStation 3.0 also *CAN* output 240p, so a CRT and Component Cables do look amazing together.
I just like to reduce sharpness, directly on the CRT, to about 15% (My Phillips TrueFlat is sharp at baseline). The softer edges make for a superb retro and AntiAliasing kind of feel.
The cheapest and easiest option would be to just buy Retro Shooter Pandora Box and then use them for a PC/device that has the gun games you want to emulate.
It's $230 or so but considering you get two guns, two pedals, and kickback compared to Sinden or Gun4IR where you would be spending twice that much or more for the same features, it's a good deal.
was buying a PS1, blank CDs and a gcon for $50-$100 total that cost prohibitive?
What really needs an easier/cheaper solution is emulating older arcade exclusive light gun games on a CRT with accuracy. I know you can use Wii remotes with a lot of devices but the accuracy is horrible.
Fair enough. I am happy to play the game I played when I was a kid, and finally understand the menus. I am happy with the revision to the experience. I guess the controls might have felt a bit snappier back then on the OG Hardware.
I was never meaning to have a performance cabinet for competitions. At all.. I was talking cheap emulation.
I would totally pay you that PSX kit at 50$
The Wii setup costed me 40$ (already had SD and USB). The CRT was 30$ at 27inch.
You know what I am saying?
I still want an original dual screen/gun Time Crisis II setup. Maybe sexed-up gun design.
Meanwhile, I am content with the Wii, I am also playing PCEngine CD and MAME Arcade with it. When I am not watching 4:3 Beavis and Butthead (with the OG music videos)
Having owned a guncon 2 as kid I can fricking promise you a wii lightgun is so far from the original thing it's not even funny. Wii lightgun is fricking dogshit
Been out for a month or so, and not much buzz has been since, CHD support is brocken which causes crashes, not all games run at full speed, and sometimes you get random app crashes afyer loading 7 -10 or so games, plus micro stutter in framerate.
>How to emulate them?
EmuVR, people sell this thing as a nostalgia sim, but it's really just a cool light gun arcade in VR.
>same person keeps making these threads for this world's shittiest PSX emulator
really makes you think
Does the Wii really finally have a psx emulator that actually works?
>Does the Wii really finally have a psx emulator
yes
>that actually works
no
