Why does Game Freak have such a boner for Fairy-type?

Why does Game Freak have such a boner for Fairy-type?
It's not that broken. Psychic literally didn't have any weaknesses
Fairies are the good guys, and dragons are the bad guys
All they needed to do was make it so that Fairy > Dragon > Bug > Fairy
Making Fairy types weak to bugs would have made it completely balanced. Making fairy take normal damage from big would have made fairy OP cancer, but not the end all be all.
But for some fricking reason fairy RESISTS bug type
They did it because of U-Turn.
Now you may be thinking "But wait... isn't U-Turn mainly used for momentum rather than damage, and having a new type resist it wouldn't prevent it from being arguably the best utility move in singles?"
Yes. You're right. But I don't think GF realized that and just thought "Wow, this move is used a lot. Better make the new type resist it lol"
Fairy was made specifically to counter Dragon. It's doing exactly what it was intended to do.
Psychic being as broken as it was in Gen 1 was an oversight. Twin Needle and Pin Missile were the only damaging Bug-type moves, and Lick was the only Ghost attack other than Night Shade, and a glitch made Psychic immune to Ghost.
>specifcally to counter dragon
While also being a better psychic in almost every way. Imagine hitting fighting for SE while also resisting dark and bug, and then hitting dark for SE as well. Why run psychic over fairy? To hit poison types and get cucked by knock off on every team? Just get a ground pokemon bro.
Feels like it needs either one more type resistant to it or one more weakness. Bug makes the most sense in my head for either.
Yeah, I agree.
Fairy was obviously included to counter how OP dragon was. Doing something to fix/nerf fairy would be an admission that they fricked up and made things even worse than they were before.
Pokemon was not meant to be a competitive game in the first place. PVP was a last minute addition
Fairy was made specifically to buff Steel.
>Steel counters fairy
>every fairy learns mystical fire and/or focus blast
Slow fairies learn mystical fire and focus miss is neutral against all the good steel mons.
>Be Aegislash
>Immune to focus miss
>Eat a 70 BP non-STAB fire move for free weakness policy and BTFO them right after
Lol
>made to nerf dragon and fighting offensively while buffing poison and steel offensively
>steel getting an offensive buff also gives it a defensive nerf in the same gen to ghost and dark and it’s fine because it’s still the best defensive typing in the game
where’s the issue
>Why is the type designed explicitly to combat the consistently most powerful type in the game so strong?
Gee anon, I fricking wonder why. It's almost like they're trying to counter an ever-growing pool of primarily Legendary and psuedo-Legendary Pokemon or something.
Psychic was never broken, it was the Gen 1 environment that made it so overpowering (it was also broken in lore).
Then GF overnerfed it yet kept making high BST Psychic legends to justify that nerf.
>zero resists except itself
>not broken
lmao
>two weaknesses and two resistances
>one resistance is against the awful Fighting type
Normal is better, Psychic resisted itself. Normal was resisted by Rhydon and Gengar.
Gen 1 Normal is better than Psychic, because of
1. how broken the Normal types themselves were (Snorlax and Chansey come to mind...)
2. how good the Normal moves were relative to other types (Body Slam, Double-Edge, Hyper Beam)
3. how shit Fighting-type was
Gen 1 Psychic however was inherently broken, unlike Normal
1. only Psychic resists it
2. only BUG OF ALL THINGS is super effective on it
3. Psychic is a special type so Amnesia go brrrrr
modern Psychic is actually pretty trash
1. Dark are completely immune to it
2. Ghost and Dark now are SE on it
3. everyone has Knock Off and/or U-Turn
modern Fairy is good for similar reasons as Gen 1 Psychic, but not nearly as polarizing
1. only Fire and Steel resists it... oh yeah Poison too I guess
2. only Steel is SE on it... oh yeah Poison too I guess
3. Moonblast is stronger than other special STABs
It's important to note the fact that Psychic types being so good actually contributed to Normal types being so good because they pushed out Fighting types.
the actual problem was ghost was not programmed correctly and everything and their mother in gen1 being half poison
the actual problem was that psychic has zero resists except itself
Why doesn't Fairy resist Ghost? It makes some thematic sense with the Fey having power over supernatural shit, and it would help fix the meta with Ghost being too overpowered offensively.
Yeah it makes Fairy even more obnoxious as a defensive typing but what else is new
Non elemental types are not based on anything but balance. Anything that seems to make sense is a happy accident.
Why people think fairy is broken? It's like Zacian, Togekiss, Tapus, and Whimsicott and basically none of them are good because of being fairy. People even use regular weezing instead of galarian for regigigas teams because the fairy weaknesses are crippling
Because /vp/ errs to the underaged and the underaged can't accept their badass dragons getting stopped by pink girly things.
Pokemkn that would've been otherwise pretty meh or powercrept got buffed with the addition of fairy, along with togekiss and clefable that were already good were even better now without normal typing.
Togekiss would be better if it was a normal type so it could have STAB serene grace Tri attack and no steel weakness forcing it to run babiri berry in doubles
type is broken
it isn't though
it's an above average type like water or steel but it's not broken
Because Fairy's explicitly the "Girl Type", so it needs to remain powerful and usable for the female demographic in order to pander to "GIRL POWAH!!!!" crowds.
Make it weak to water and watch it sink to worst type
Fairy should be weak to bug instead of resisting it.
>type based around nature should be weak to thing commonly in nature
that's moronic.
Fairy is OP but it's not nearly as busted as Gen 1 Psychic.
not
even
fricking
close
yeah
>Steel type is broken upon debut
>still busted 23 years and almost 7 gens later
looking at all those fairy types I now have a boner as well
what??
fairy types RESIST bugs??
what the frick
why does game freak hate bug mons so bad???
it's literally what the entire premise of the series was built on what the fccccccc
>dragon type is broken upon debut
>multiple attempts to fix it breeding new types including introduction of fairy
>every attempt makes everything worse
>dragons still broken
