I wanted to get into one of these match-3 casual mobages, and while PAD looks quite dated, I guess it's still popular.
I tried playing a few game like it (Kotodaman, Crash Fever, Tower of Savior), but there was always something going wrong.
You can play just fine without paying. I haven't spent any money in years. I wouldn't say it's intuitive. Learning the mechanics takes time, developing skill takes time, and learning how to build a proper team takes a lot of knowledge. NA does not get all of the collabs. NA is considered hard mode because the dungeons are all the same difficulty as JP but JP has access to a lot more (and often overpowered) solutions.

Do you need to stall with typical teams or can you one-shot floors?
You can one-shot most floors if you have a decent build. Stalling comes from getting damage/att. void actives up or if you only take out one enemy when there's multiple on screen. The floor before big bang usually takes two shots regardless of your damage and big bang is a slog on his own (hence the Thanos/Orlando usage).

When monsters have a leader skill that says "may survive when hp reduced to 0", is that a probability? I remember it saying you'll survive a nuke if your hp is 50% or more.
IIRC you'll survive any single hit as long as you're above 1 HP. The issue of course is that this effect was rendered useless by including so many multi-hit attacks from monsters in every dungeon since this effect was introduced.
Only works above 50% hp. Easy way to tell is you will survive if your health bar is not orange or red

It is pretty fun but I get it not wanting to whale for it, took me 330 stones for 3 copy's and I had to trade for the 4th since I don't have Xmas Silica but even then I feel like I got really lucky. Btw I semi tested it and the awakening does appear when you click the monster in game so I'm assuming it probably would be negated but I'm not positive.
Oh I see. It just adds an awoken like an inherited typing. That's a shame. I was hoping there would be a handy workaround for some of the unavoidable gimmicks in some dungeons where they blast you with an awoken bind and bind some of your people.
Awakens applied via skills are not affected by awoken bound.
However if you have a devil typing equip, you will lose the leader passive if the devil typing is removed via awoken bound

Ideal is one of the best leads in the game and Valeria is probably one of the best fire subs in the game. Sonia while not that special, might actually be usable somewhere because she has a FUA which is rare now a days, and Roche could potentially be broken on a low hp team. Only one that doesn't really seem good is Miru but that's not because she's bad but because there's already alot of cards that already do what she does.

They've recently tuned up the event dungeons to make them extraordinarily more difficult than they used to be. They're funneling players into feeling like they have to roll on the event REM to get cards that will benefit from the 3x or 5x stat multiplier inside those event dungeons.

You get the bow and arrow by doing the dungeon and farming the discs.

He's unbindable, with 4 skill charges, jammer immunity, with triple 10 combos and a low cooldown. He can also get blind immunity, VDP, or a 7 combo super awakening. His active can also pierce VDP beforehand which can be useful; especially if you're using a team that's focusing on making combos and not 3x3s. His equip gives any card green secondary color and two killers. Is his leader skill going to change the game? No. But as a sub he's very versatile.
This one any good? I don't get it's leader skill, sounds like a double negative.
7x6 makes the board bigger, but in exchange you can't make matches of 3 anymore. There's also no HP multiplier, RCV multiplier, shield, followup, or any other important benefits. 18x attack is also not high anymore. She's a farmable card that's been around for years almost entirely as an evolution material.
Haven't followed the ranking meta lately but Keela used to be good in ranking dungeons for forcing yourself to use style only combos

I can't beat mythical with my current brain dead team. I feel like attacker bonuses won't be as reliable as +2 light combos, if I have Johnathon as a friend and set up a 3/3 fire and light it does a couple mil damage.

Before assists can be equipped onto someone else they need to be awoken. Those 4 icons on the right need to be activated. You can do this in a lot of menus but the easiest would be the blue "Max Enhance" button you see on the lower left. It's also not a bad idea to level them up and +297 them if they're going to be equipped onto someone with the same color main attribute.

Those collabs are like a decade old at this point so they're mainly there just to clear for easy stones.

Stones as in magic stones, you get 1 the first time you clear all floors of a dungeon. If you need small evo gems that's a different thing, you can get those from the Gem Temple limited time dungeon when it's available (check the LTD tab) or by farming mid-tier Normal dungeon bosses and doing a Gem monster exchange.
Post box sorted by MP. Also, you should use tamadras to enable all the awoken skills for anything you plan to put on a team; there's a LTD dungeon for those too. Also also, favorite everything you get out of a rare egg machine so that you don't accidentally sell it.
I have no idea how to optimally use the enhance materials, etc.

Some of the materials can get a bit complicated, but the standard/king tamadras are pretty much free at this point so any time you have a card that needs awakenings you should grind for some of those. Also I completely forgot that "Tamadra Infestation" is a permanent bonus dungeon now so you can just run that as needed.

The plus button on the right has the full icon list, and you can press and hold on those to get the name. Looking up a card on https://pad.chesterip.cc/ it should show all the drop locations for it.
If you're pairing with a friend's Jotaro, the best option would be to lead with Doppio/Diavolo and fill in the rest of the team with Attackers that cover all five colors (doesn't matter whether it's main/sub attribute, they both count).

Yes, you could sell them now with the bank, but you lose on color bonus

Evolutions make card stronk or sidegrade, typically if it's reversible it's a sidegrade
Assists evolutions have bloated stats and the equip awakening, get to level 100 or so and you can utilize them

But in short think about it this way:
The top attribute is 100% of the card's attack, the other color is 15% (10% if it's the same color as primary)
If you match 2 light combos, you increase the damage done for light cards, let's pretend it's 2x damage and you have a Light Light card. So in this case you do 200+20
Now if you use a card with Light and Water card. If you match a light and water combo, that's 100+15

I assume you mean the 2 JoJo dungeon for the free rolls. You're meant to use collab units in your team for massive HP boosts to be able to comfortably get through those dungeons.

Shivadra for SRevo Shivadra system, Odindra for being a Wood/Water cleric and decent equip, Radra for low cd rainbow board active and decent equips, Ragdra for cool buff in the future and that's about it. You can check out other MP units' effects if you want but they're mostly not meta or that useful.

Heads up. The "number" conditions in the conditional dungeon don't work with units that have 40 or 400 in their skill name. You can do it with a Woodsie (No. 40) and a Kraken (No. 400). Maybe others frick if I know. I don't care enough to look into it.
Another heads up for the same dungeon. You need to clear it with 4-star or lower monsters only. I hope you made a super volcano dragon or a bunch of super knights. A regular volcano dragon (No. 23) would also do.

There too much to sort through for there to be a comprehensive examination of every character that's both up to date and all in one place. The only things you're likely to find are the Japanese tier lists for leaders but that's not the most relevant for NA players. Most of the information you need you'll have to find out yourself through experience, hang out in places that constantly talk about PAD (like here or reddit) to get an idea of what other people are using, or maybe post screenshots of the characters you rolled in machines, (aka REM, 5,000+ Monster Points) and ask for insight on what sort of team you could make or what sort of characters you should look out for in upcoming collabs/events. Obviously the last solution is more useful once you've been playing for a while. It's not perfect, but this game relies heavily on knowledge.

You rolled pretty hard on Valentine's. In the future unless you're looking for something specific you would probably be better off not rolling once you start getting a bunch of duplicates. Taking quick look at your box you have a couple of good cards but making a team to clear difficult dungeons may not be simple.
The equips of the 5 Valentine's girls (Leilan, Karin, Meimei, Sakuya, and Haku) are probably going to be useful for you at the beginning. You have enough chocolate hearts to make one of each with some to spare.
You'll get a lot of mileage out of V-Senri. She's a useful transform card and her equips are great.
V-Sonia's next evolution is also really strong.There's not a lot of cards that work well with her from Valentine's if she's a leader, but you should be on the look out for more red cards that are either physical, dragon, or devil typing.
Gilgamesh has an important active skill to get past damage absorption.
You could just run with V-Senri's as leaders and 2 more as subs a team, which would give you 24 out of the 27 skill charges you need to transform them on the first turn. Then add the two evolved V-Sonias as subs and that'll be 28 charges. You just need a way to make all of the Senri's unbindable with equips. You would be alternating the active skills of 2 of those V-Senris while allowing the other 2 to charge up their inherits. It would give you a ton of opportunities to create fire and heart orbs, unlock the board with an active or L-unlock, perform followups,fix rcv debuffs, fix move time debuffs, remove awoken binds, get past void damage with Sonia's VDP.
Remarkable downsides are lack of damage absorption answer which is why I mentioned Gilgamesh earlier. He would have to be inherited onto someone like a spare Senri or Sonia.
You could make 2 V-Senri equips to make your 2 leader V-Senri's unbindable, but you would probably struggle finding enough skill charges from other subs for the moment.
Quick note. The event going on right now is the Illusory Artist event. Right now you can farm paints and create 4 Prim's Illusionary Artworks to make your V-Senri's unbindable with an active that doesn't conflict with her leader skill. Unfortunately they don't unlock the board, but they're better than a lot of the other options available to you right now & you won't need to rely on luck to get them.

Fricking yikes and kek, as the other anon said you went way way too deep in Valentine's which was a pretty shit machine. I usually don't recommend to start over once you get started but in your case I would 100% start over. try to reroll and get one of these 3 characters in the current machine.

Not really. Elizer hits like a brick shit house, but alone she's not very useful. You would need a reliable way to make 6 light orbs every turn or you'll just get slaughtered half the time. Not everyone has 2 MonHun Kirins; especially not a new account.
Two of them are on the jp tier list, if you had some other good stuff then I wouldn’t recommend rerolling but your box is literally 98% Valentine trash. Like I don’t think you realize how trash the Valentine machine is.

The two mecha are top 3 leads available to NA and they have very big sub pool. The rarities of a lot of things were adjusted to work for them.
We get one for free though so its not a “must” roll but they are amazing.

You could even get away with more if you want to. You can sometimes skip the need for attribute absorb by putting the attribute absorb latent on the helper leader. An 8 billion hit is usually good enough, and with the right colors on subs you could stretch that even more so if you're struggling to find an answer with both damage absorb and attribute absorb you can try looking for only damage absorb.
You can also skip needing a void pierce active if you bring subs with VDP, but your sub pool shrinks significantly if you try. It's much easier to just inherit a VDP onto your one or both of your leaders and let their massive damage carry you.

Thats not always the best option though, especially with Royal stacking Ls with VDP. Daytonawolf has a bit easier time with TPA but even with him most JP players are stacking damage boosting equipment on these leads and then pairing with a VDP active.

Its a 5 turn cooldown for 2 turns of VDP uptime (and some other perks). Any fast VDP works because these mecha stall so easily to recharge them safely.
Obviously it's not the perfect solution. I was only helping to offer alternatives for people who are struggling to find subs. While double Ls on NautOak are cool, personally I'm using Fourze Driver + Astro Switch (5769) on both of my leaders, and then I replaced the VDP sub with a Siduri (9247) who has a 2-turn cooldown that unlocks the board and makes more darks/blues. It lessens the time I might need to stall.
The mecha sub pool is very forgiving because all of the teams damage and orb generation comes from the leaders, so the subs more than ever are just along from the ride to help them transform and cover resists and situational stuff. They dont even need 2x damage cap awakenings for the most part.
A lot of older characters are relevant again for their teams.

I'm sure you could do it if you brought an active to increase all damage by 2-4x, activated both naut&royals on the first turn of the boss, and L'd green/purple.

Still, with 4 of the 10c and 4 L and 40x lead his personal damage should squish most things that can be squished.

Definitely. I was stalling on purpose on a lot of floors just to see what I could get away with and it's kind of nuts. With the autoheals, looping shield, and massive HP pool you can stall on a ton of floors even when you're getting blasted with half a million damage. Then with the variety of subs you can bring it's easy to imagine people would use a team like this when attempting a dungeon they've never tried or beaten before.
I would have liked a copy of daytonawolf as well as it is more durable (but doesnt hit as hard). I have run all of the original mechs since they added them.
I had a 4x attack buff equip charged and standing by, but 28th floor I got nuked with a -10 skill delay.
29th floor I tried not to kill it but skyfalled the frick out of it and cleared floor. came to boss floor 30 without a single active up and a rainbow board with no L potential. Didnt kill and wiped top the bosses OHKO.
That's how it goes. It's tricky to get past the Kanna floor if you have a rainbow team or a team that has a big followup. With naut/oak's multiplier so high if you try to do hard damage everything will go over the void and you'll only do 2 damage from followups. Fit in a few matches of hearts only and you might be able to stall the full 10.

The cool thing about the team is a lot of times you can just power through awoken skill binds with the big HP pool and healing. That's of course assuming the enemy isn't going to do something nasty like bind your leaders or skills.

Its still easily one of the top 5 leads for NA, possibly in #3 spot behind Daywolf and Atelie and holding in the top 10 in japan. Royal is near invincible in all but a few extremely late game descends, Ls are a hassle but 24 billion damage on a 2 turn cooldown (or 48 billion if you stack both lead skills) and you cant be orb trolled. A 4 combo will get you 10.
Paired with halloween cat and you are immune to any hit for les than 600k and can stall forever just by breathing thanks to the auto regen. If you happen to have a roulette active you can build hearts while comboing and with 25x recovery and regen you can now comfortably shrug off 800k-1million damage hits back to back to back all day long.
Royal seems weak only when compared to the even more insane powercreep of daytona wolf. Even compared to atelie it is far easier to build with a much more forgiving sub pool, and far easier to play (atelie is wiped out from a single mistake while comboing, while Royal’s near invulnerability is always on).
Literally the only issue with it is the L awakening. Those have always fricking sucked yet they keep trying to force them.
These new April challenge dungeons get out of hand real quick. I strongly recommend waiting until you can find a team on youtube that will coast you through them.

But I agree this is a big quality of life buff. With royal before the buff you need to draw three on-color L plus one additional random combo to hit 10c and land the 24 billion solo hit. Not difficult but easy to fall short if hit with a time move debuff. Now even just 2 L and then play “match 3” with remaining time should be able to hit triple damage cap (outside of supergravity).
The additional L awakening also essentially doubles his damage output in supergravity which is much needed. Normally I need to burn damage boost active skills to damage cap on anything but blue. This extra L essentially doubles the teams damage output in such descends since all damage comes from leads. (This is why L from equipment is so important for this leader as just two additional L is nearly 5x damage buff).

After taking a look at BLS descended and not standing the slightest chance (would take a solid 50+ stones for me to clear.) I'm thinking of dropping this game. Team building is so complicated that it just doesn't make sense, and after 9 months of playing I feel like I still understand nothing. Hell the last few months I've been just logging in and doing nothing except pull a couple times for collabs, basically treating the game as a jpg collector and nothing else.
BLS is my favorite Yugioh card, so I would have really liked to get him, but this experiencehas now made me think about things and I'm so far away from even being able to compete, people talk about damage cap being 2 billion and there's skills to break that, but I'm over here only ever doing millions, never even close to scratching 1 bil, let alone 2.
Try making a team with nothing but yugioh units for higher HP.
I tried that but to no avail. I can get the first battle down to about 25% HP and exhausting all my skills before I die.
I have almost every card from the YGO egg machine, and a plethora of dupes, but nothing I try seems to work. I don't have a consistent way to make it so I'm only matching one type of orb the whole way.
Honestly this seems outright impossible with just YGO cards. I have some Super Reincarnated Nephynthys or whatever she's called, and tried using her for double x30 attack, but again I can't have all those dark orbs consistently, and I have so much less HP I just get destroyed anyways.
I tried copying the team in that one guy's video of this dungeon, but I just don't have access to all the cards I'd need. And trying to mimic the one color strat hasn't gotten me anywhere meaningful.
Pic is just my latest team after bashing my head against this wall for 4 hours at the cost of sleep.
Maybe I'll just grind some collab coins to get two Exodias and try to see where that gets me.
When looking for possible replacements you should first determine why a card in a team is being suggested (what skills it has and when it needs to be available,awakenings it has,etc) and figure out what is essential and what isn't. Once you know what's mandatory for the team go to

and look up cards that have the same things. You might have one even if it's not optimal. This is especially helpful for finding inherits because it's unlikely you'll have remembered all of the equip versions of the cards you have and you can't search for them in your box without manually checking every card.
To be honest though the Black Luster Soldier dungeon is way out of proportion for new players. You might have better luck running it multiplayer with a team decked out solely for survivability/utility. That means full heal actives, big shield actives, and as much HP as you can squeeze into it. Don't be afraid to pass if you know you won't survive a floor. It's not perfect, but you don't have a lot of time left. You'll get lucky eventually and get carried.

Decided to give this a shot, and I had never done multiplayer, so I had no idea how it worked. No clue how to pass a turn, but hey I when I did die, I was overjoyed to find that I was allowed to spend a stone to continue, I would have tried this way earlier if I knew that, rather than mentally prepping to desperately spend like 50 in solo.
I only had to spend 1 magic stone too, the other guys were carrying hard enough that it was over pretty quick and I didn't get whacked too much.

I just copied a team from youtube to button it. You have to start learning from the combined autism of the collective. The team-building meta-game is not really fun for most people; but to some people that's all the game is. Take advantage of their effort and follow their guides.
team building 101: pick your leader skill. it will have an orb matching style to activate for damage. a newbie should avoid anything that needs more than 6 orbs to activate, unless it's soft rainbow (4-5 out of 6 colors) and they can full board clear
team building 102: pick your subs. either pick them for their awakenings or for their active skill. try to use damage awakenings that fit your leader skill matching style and similar across the team to do damage efficiently. 7c awakenings are a good all-rounder. if your team is color matching based, make sure you have those colors represented. when in doubt, pick the card with damage awakenings because utility can be added later
team building 103: patch holes in your team with assists. fill in utility actives that your team needs, or if your card already has a good active that throw something with a long cd on it as skill delay protection. equips are assists that also add awakenings, good for things like adding bind immunity or hazard resists
the hard part of team building is working with a shitty box. box variety is king. a 5 pull on every rem is good, because that gets you some variety. going hard on one collab because you're chasing the whale bait leaves you a box of dupes and nothing to work with

Is x3 / x4 ShivaDra a meme? I found some players online, huge firepower but they get folded by attacks that only do 60K HP damage. Big investment, small returns?
it's a system team that can damage cap. used for late game farm builds like 7* gem rush, can clear other dungeons too with some effort if you don't need too much utility
4x shivadra is a meme because 3x is enough to cycle actives. only need more shivadras if you want to have a second set with different latents
The reason you're seeing the teams a lot is because the shivadras are purchasable, the team is braindead simple to play, and it shits out damage.
They're actually very durable teams as well because they're usually being run with 2 leaders that have big shields, meaning the effective HP is like 16x greater than their HP pool. That also means that normal heals and autoheals are also multiplicative. If you have 18,000 autohealing with 2x 75% shields on your leaders you're effectively autohealing 288,000 HP every turn whether you match heals or not.
The reason you're seeing these teams eat shit in multiplayer is because the teams themselves are very tight to plan for each dungeon in the context of what skills you need to have available on which floor. Most of the time people are copying a team they found online but those teams are almost always tuned specifically for single player clears. When they run the same team multiplayer their skills are all out of sync with what the dungeon needs and they get demolished by the overtuned damage in the new dungeons. 1.2 million effective HP isn't enough to stop the ridiculous OSOBOS in dungeons that expect you to be running collab specific cards with the extra 3x or 5x HP.

I'm woefully behind on my dungeons, I think I'm stuck on MD3. I like Aggregate more aesthetically, but I don't have a second to use on my team and I forgot to roll for Dorna. Should I just use Grannerv until I roll another Aggregate or is one fine for non-SG content?

Those were usable as a poverty XP source ten years ago when monster XP was hard to get, but now they don't even give enough to justify the time spent feeding them to something - that's part of the reason they added a "sell" option when you finish a dungeon, so you can dump that shit faster. The same applies to pretty much every non-material monster you get from a Normal or Technical dungeon.
You can exchange most of them for gems, which can be used to evolve stuff that's actually worth using.

Pulled a Mukotsu and converted my Touka and Paimon that were collecting dust. Had an Aconite in my box from the first run of Faeiries.
Any recommendations? Alarune is definitely on the weaker side, but I wanted tape/cloud immunity and Orb Enhance somewhere in the team.

Only really useful if you want to save 30 seconds. You'd save plus points and tamadras on average by doing it the old fashioned way.

Royal Nautilus is your strongest unit. Make a team with as the leader.
Building a good team for Naut&Oak is not going to be easy for a new player. The skill boost requirements and different rarity requirements makes the potential sub pool small. Then combine it with the usual necessity to bring bypass damage absorption, pierce damage void, bind clear, and a looping shield and the sub pool shrinks even more. It's definitely a strong lead, but for a new player he'll have to cut so many corners it may not be worth the trouble considering there are so many gimmicks in dungeons that will kill him no matter how much damage the leaders do.
