>Python 3.9 wont run on Windows 7. >it's only because of a single .dll no one bother to make for the OS

>Python 3.9 wont run on Windows 7
>it's only because of a single .dll no one bother to make for the OS
>you need this implimentation to run the PC port of Zelda Link to the Past
>blessed be some modders who made that dll file, open source, on github
>drop that file into a folder
>and suddenly Python 3.9 is working on Windows 7
>comfy Zelda Link to the Past time now fellas

how come a huge corporation like Valve and their monopolistic game launcher Steam cannot do what some hobbyists have accomplished? it's as if they hate money, lmao

You shouldn't be allowed near a computer because you're still on Windows 7.

win7spergs don't pay for anything, and even if they did they're like 0.5% of the market
the amount of money you could make off them is less than you'd spend on developers supporting the outdated piece of shit
in conclusion, you are a fricking moron

there are more windows 7 users on steam than linux or mac

Steam Linux support is a vehicle for the Steam Deck, something they actually make money off. Are you dumb? Hold on, don't answer that.

You don't have the full story here, Anon. Because the Steam Client is also a storefront now, it uses an embedded web browser. Do you know what browser engine it's useing? Chromium. Google has dropped Windows 7, therefore Valve also has to drop Windows 7.

Then they should probably not do it like that. Epic doesn't even run their application on Chrome.

what's the worst that can happen, a website wont load unless you upgrade your browser?

A website will serve you malicious files that autodownload and execute on your machine.

Wow, you're so smart Anon, would you be willing to speak at our next cybersecurity conference? You've got some really fresh ideas, and I think you can convince some of these people that we should keep Win 7 machines in prod.

There's still a few Windows 7 computer in some of our labs because of some ancient piece of equipment hooked up to them. It's not airgapped. It keeps me up at night sometimes. I wish something would just happen already so I can justify getting rid of this machine

they don't support older operating systems not because they can't but because newer OSs are better for serving ads and tracking you. every feature will be turned into a paid subscription

Yeah, this must be true, because Windows 7 famously had no telemetry.

Because some genius at Valve thought it'd be a good idea to turn Steam into Chrome and now they're at the complete mercy of Google

Valve has killed operating system support since before either chrome or windows 7 existed. This is like skipping to the end of a movie, watching it, rewinding back to the start, watching the movie, and acting surprised with the ending when it plays again.

ok, and? what are you going to do? make a youtube video about the history of valve dropping support? email gaben? cry on 4cheddit?

I don't use windows 7, moron. I'm just saying that anyone with 2 brain cells to rub knew this was going to happen. I have no issue with windows 7 users, but windows 7 users that used steam despite the obvious outcome and now b***hing about it is a complete moron
