There were constant reports from people who have left the company about how Activision were constantly forcing them to do dead end tasks, preventing them from actually working on the PVE stuff and the burnout was enough for them to leave. They sent out an email saying he was being promoted, and gave him people to manage. He was then immediately told to fire one of them, that he's being paid less than all three of them, and that he would be personally responsible for completing the work of the person he was being told to fire. And he gets strung along for three months waiting on the pay increase that's supposed to come with that responsibility increase. Then when he quits they then tap the figurative sign for the position he wasn't actually promoted to, and activate a 3 month non-compete.
They are also unlocked for free in the battle pass by playing 1 hour a day for less than a month or doing a hero challenge after the battle pass ends.
Hero challenges are basically play the game and learn the abilities in the Practice range.
To unlock the new healer for instance:
Complete 50 games as All Roles or playing as Support heroes in Quick Play, Competitive Play, or No Limits. Wins grants double progress.
Practice Healing Pylon: Attach Healing Pylon to a wall or ceiling and heal 150 damage with it in the Practice Range.
Practice Solar Rifle Primary Fire: Deal 400 damage using Solar Rifle's fully-charged primary fire in the Practice Range.
Practice Solar Rifle Secondary Fire: Heal 200 damage using Solar Rifle's secondary fire in the Practice Range.
Practice Outburst: Activate Outburst with and without the high jump in the Practice Range.
Practice Captive Sun: Detonate a Sunstruck enemy after using Captive Sun in the Practice Range.
Heroes are unlocked thru battle pass or hero challenges after the battle pass ends.
Grind is only slow as frick if you are impatient and want everything day one.
I switched over to steam so i can-uninstall Battle net and it took me less than 20 hours of playtime to finish an entire battle pass by doing dailies and weeklies every other day 12 hours of that was to unlock the new hero.
Also new heroes countering new heroes is BS.

Fun stuff also happens to be kinda shit to get in your face, like old Doomfist who could fly in, instakill and still get out.

I really think the biggest issue is the fact that you can't pick every class.
TF2 went from 6v6 to 12v12 because they saw that having every type of class on the team was a much better experience and let people have more freedom in how to go about their play styles and stratagies. TF2 class grouping also makes more sense, offense/defense/support makes a lot more sense than Tank/DPS/Heal because I wouldn't really consider snipers on the same grouping with someone like Soilder who uses a regular machinegun, junkrat and his grenades and rocket girl with her rockets. I'm sure we have all been in matches where both DPS rolls choose a sniper class and one of the heal classes also choose the sniper healer, leading to 3 snipers which leads you wide open.

OW1 was already ruined by trying to force OWL to be a thing and sucking the fun out of every mode to turn everything into ranked-lite. But OW2, Activision did what they always do. Suck out all those pesky ideas and passion out of the people who cared because it keeps getting in the way of their plans to nickel and dime the blind sheep. There were constant reports from people who have left the company about how Activision were constantly forcing them to do dead end tasks, preventing them from actually working on the PVE stuff and the burnout was enough for them to leave. So now you've got half the team that OW1 had, but made up only with yes-men drones happy to do nothing but make $20 skins all day.
OW2 plays much better than OW1 but Ganker doesn't play games and just parrots eceleb drama and streamer opinions so that wouldn't matter to the thread.

there is literally WAY too much that went wrong to list.
But in short almost every update the game had made it a little or significantly worse. The balance has always been terrible, especially the console version, and every single added character made the meta way fricking worse than it should, and the only way to not make them a menace was to nerff them to the fricking ground.
as a competitive pvp player, ow1 is the worse game I had the misfortune to play, such a pathetic game, it feels like the game is specifically made for shitters, controller players and biological women so they also can perform while being drooling fricking morons with no hand eye coordination or experience in real games
then the 2 came out and it was even worse but at this point I did not care about the game at all, I was just pissed that I spent money on the first game for absolutely nothing, and I dot not have an ounce of fun, even queuing with friends

They sent out an email saying he was being promoted, and gave him people to manage. He was then immediately told to fire one of them, that he's being paid less than all three of them, and that he would be personally responsible for completing the work of the person he was being told to fire. And he gets strung along for three months waiting on the pay increase that's supposed to come with that responsibility increase. Then when he quits they then tap the figurative sign for the position he wasn't actually promoted to, and activate a 3 month non-compete.

They are also unlocked for free in the battle pass by playing 1 hour a day for less than a month or doing a hero challenge after the battle pass ends.
Hero challenges are basically play the game and learn the abilities in the Practice range.
To unlock the new healer for instance:
Complete 50 games as All Roles or playing as Support heroes in Quick Play, Competitive Play, or No Limits. Wins grants double progress.
Practice Healing Pylon: Attach Healing Pylon to a wall or ceiling and heal 150 damage with it in the Practice Range.
Practice Solar Rifle Primary Fire: Deal 400 damage using Solar Rifle's fully-charged primary fire in the Practice Range.
Practice Solar Rifle Secondary Fire: Heal 200 damage using Solar Rifle's secondary fire in the Practice Range.
Practice Outburst: Activate Outburst with and without the high jump in the Practice Range.
Practice Captive Sun: Detonate a Sunstruck enemy after using Captive Sun in the Practice Range.
Heroes are unlocked thru battle pass or hero challenges after the battle pass ends.
Grind is only slow as frick if you are impatient and want everything day one.
I switched over to steam so i can-uninstall Battle net and it took me less than 20 hours of playtime to finish an entire battle pass by doing dailies and weeklies every other day 12 hours of that was to unlock the new hero.
Also new heroes countering new heroes is BS.

Ignoring OW2, the core problem of OW is team reliance in a hero based game just leads to massive issues. Solo carrying as a Soldier76 or like McCree is going to be impossible against supports/barriers, so it just felt like you were shooting barriers the more characters they added or reworking old ones like Symmetra. Fun stuff also happens to be kinda shit to get in your face, like old Doomfist who could fly in, instakill and still get out.
Should've just make tanks as close range bruisers that have self-sustain like roadhog. Imagine a shieldless reinhardt but his sustain is mobility where his rocket charge acts more like a boost where he can leap into the air, or the standard charge in and out

Most people are just SHIT as DPS.
Tank just survive longer to deal damage than most bad DPS players and you usually rack up DPS from trades whit the enemy tanks.
5v5 and solo tanking sucks. Still don't understand how the ranking system works. What was wrong with win = SR goes up, lose = SR goes down. Had to make a sequel because the microtransaction style wasn't meta and had to jump on the next cancerous trend.
That being said, Widow's butt is a miracle of the universe.

The change to 5v5 is what really kind of killed it for my friend group who still cared to play.

I really think the biggest issue is the fact that you can't pick every class.
TF2 went from 6v6 to 12v12 because they saw that having every type of class on the team was a much better experience and let people have more freedom in how to go about their play styles and stratagies. TF2 class grouping also makes more sense, offense/defense/support makes a lot more sense than Tank/DPS/Heal because I wouldn't really consider snipers on the same grouping with someone like Soilder who uses a regular machinegun, junkrat and his grenades and rocket girl with her rockets. I'm sure we have all been in matches where both DPS rolls choose a sniper class and one of the heal classes also choose the sniper healer, leading to 3 snipers which leads you wide open.
