High damage generally comes with a downside like low mobility, limited ammo, low rate-of-fire, requiring you to be in close range, being harder to obtain, etc. Racing games have tried for eons to make stats beyond speed matter, but then the meta quickly becomes stale every single time.

While high speed is important if you don’t have good handling or traction it’s worthless.
This does not lead to a balanced meta, this just means the high-speed high-control vehicle is the meta instead of the max-speed low-control vehicle.

In Wreckfest this is entirely doable online. I've won races in the lawnmower and other meme vehicles.
