Cool, let me know when Unbound gets updated
Cool, let me know when Emerald Rogue gets updated
TPBP
Peobably never.
>Old 3.1 saves are compatible, but you might lose out on some of the new pokemon and items! It is highly recommended that you start a brand new save from the beginning!
dropped
Starting a new playthrough soon, one of my favorite hacks.
that dithering looks like shit
holy shit is that real???
>Radical Reddit
>level cap
Into the trash it goes
I will always maintain that Radical Red on Minimal Grinding mode is hands down the best single-player Pokemon gameplay experience out there.
I can understand frustration for the vanilla version but with MG it's perfect from a challenge and pacing standpoint. The RR bad narrative is constructed entirely by shitters who felt gatekept by people who think it's good
based. MG mode is the best way to play, makes it much more fun especially when going for dex
>minimal grinding mode
you mean EASY MODE. You didn't actually beat the game
>The RR bad narrative is constructed entirely by shitters who felt gatekept by people who think it's good
never played the game in my life but i can tell that, like all difficulty hacks, it's soulless and masturbatory.
Radical red never was meant to be Le epic wholesome adventure with your pokebros in a brand new region full of soulful details.
it was first are foremost "hey here's every Pokemon, a dexnav and a bunch of changed stats/stuff, you have a lot of options, can you beat the game?".
It knows this and people who like the game know this too, and that's what makes it a fun gameplay experience.
I like RR because it's the only single player Pokemon game where I feel like I have to fine tune or even recompose my team for every major boss and really push my strategizing as far as it'll go, while also having a lot of options at any given moment.
The fact that not being able to cheese with trainer items, use Shift or grind past the gym leaders pisses people off tells you all you need to know about the crowd that doesn't like it. They heard about a popular new romhack and wanted to be with the "in" crowd and had to realize they can't participate, because it's a no-frills game not a comfy wholesome journey where nothing ever walls them as that'd ruin the fun. And not being able to be with the perceived in-group upsets them, so they want to knock the game down instead as being for tryhards
Nobody's stopping you from replaying your favorite mainline or OC donut steal rom hack
>The fact that not being able to cheese with trainer items, use Shift or grind past the gym leaders pisses people off tells you all you need to know about the crowd that doesn't like it. or it's just a bad game
seethe harder
i'm not the guy typing paragraphs and concocting conspiracies because people don't like a romhack
mad cuz bad
go to bed
not my fault that you’d get assblasted when you learn you can’t use items, don’t have shift mode, and have fixed levels the moment you play online multiplayer in any pokemon.
spamming revives as a crutch to win any npc pokemon battle means you deserve to lose and the game is telling you to use your brain when the main draw of pokemon is being an rpg with hundreds of options available and forcing charizard fire blast spam isn’t going to cut it
you're making a lot of assumptions
>The fact that not being able to cheese with trainer items, use Shift or grind past the gym leaders pisses people off
No what pisses me off is that Radical Reddit is considered the "pinnacle" of Pokémon gameplay when Pokémon's core gameplay fricking sucks and is inconsequential.
pokemon's core gameplay when actually utilized well is better than 95% of turn based rpgs, it's just that it almost never is
It sounds like the game really insists upon itself. No thanks.
its just pushing battle mechanics to their limit while removing all the easy outs that let you autowin normally in pokemon.
like you're guaranteed to win against an npc if you spam items hard enough, so that gets obviously taken away
>Minimal Grinding mode
Redpill me on this, i dropped vanilla RR because of the grinding and smogonshit (Whitney's Wigglytuff was the last straw)
Cool, let me know when Inclement Emerald gets updated
all mons have 31 ivs and ev gain is disabled, including on npc trainers.
So level griding isn't fixed?
Not that anon, but I remember not having much issue with leveling up once I got to Lavender Town. I compare it to Unbound, and that felt awful. I think there are 'cheats' you can use on the console in the main room, and infinite rare candies is one of them.
By console in the main room, I mean the console in the MC's room at the start of the game.
At least in Unbound there was the motivation of a new story to discover, here it's just firered with some johto gym leaders
Fair play, everyone has different tastes. The story in Unbound never felt that compelling, and the hard mode (whatever the 2nd hardest difficulty was), just felt like a drag to play, RR had a ton more QoL.
skill issue
The only fiddly bit you're stuck with are natures, which you can just change at any pokecenter, IVs and EVs don't exist.
turns the game into essentially a puzzle/trial and error game since stats don't mean shit anymore
>Don't have to worry about EV grinding autism
>IVs all maxed
>Its just doing minor fiddling with natures based on what set you're running
It makes it way less tedious.
Because doing extraneous busywork makes the game so much fricking deeper.
stops being an rpg and turns the game into a battle sim with extra steps.
go play stadium, battle frontier, showderp or something similar then
Except worse, because at least a battle simulator has you playing against other humans, who use a variety of teams and strategies. Hacks like radical reddit are for people who want the feeling of being good at pokemon, while still having infinite retries against an AI opponent with a predetermined team.
RR is a better RPG than FR vanilla. Pick ~10 of your favourite mons by the third gym (so you don't need to resort to cheese) and try to beat hardcore. It's not that hard and you'll make bros out of whatever shitmons you picked out of the gutter.
Buneary + Liepard are my homies (inb4 furry)
Or better yet, I can make bros with them normally instead of being an autist who can't connect with anything without busting his balls against a soulless piece of shit hack for 50 hours
You can solo any regular Pokemon game with your starter, so its not as special. You're literally posting on a Pokemon board, so where either of us lands on the spectrum is just splitting hairs.
And you can solo the E4 in Radical Reddit with a Mega Slowbro, does that mean it's more special than everything else?
You're a fricking moron. Turn your brain off "difficult = hard" it's nothing but pure brain poison, Radical Red is not a good game because it's hard and it's actually quite a shitty designed game regardless of whether its hard or not. And if I wanted difficulty there's harder games, both in Pokemon and elsewhere.
I don't think you can solo the E4 in hardcore, but I could be wrong. And RR isn't hard, it's just a lot harder than vanilla. Maybe we are too far apart on the rainbow to converge, you insecure sperg.
You used to be able to, but that isn't the point dumbass. Saying a Pokemon is 'special' or 'not special' because it can 'solo an opponent' is possibly the most braindead shit I've ever heard.
>And RR isn't hard, it's just a lot harder than vanilla
Then why do you play it?
For the shitty feature bloat?
For the nonsense enemy design, like the POISON gym having more psychic mons than the psychic leader?
For 'all muh mons', being crammed into a region that can't support that many?
For Kanto, where a big strength of the region was that you can tackle gyms and explore in a very nonlinear manner, to be turned into a railroaded hallway?
For the forced shitty plotline where you're railroaded into Cerulean Cave to satisfy some autistic fanfiction or having Brendan and Archer shoved in for zero reason?
>Then why do you play it?
It has fun randomizer options. You're obsessed with "design" but will never release anything yourself. It's cringe.
>It has fun randomizer option
waoh so something i could run on literally any other pokemon game...
>waaaaah why are you obsessed with [whether the game is actually well made or not]
Great argument
If all that makes you cum in your pants is a randomizer give me 10 minutes to make a randomized rom of fire red and distribute it, that sounds like it's already on par with radical troonshit
>troony obsessed
I feel bad for you.
people who play radical reddit are too chickenshit to play comp but still want to claim they're good at pokemon
Sounds good, i might try it
anyway do you guys know some gen 15 hacks that update movesets to the most recent gens + add fairy type and that's it? (no story changes, no difficulty changes, same pokemon distribution)
gen 1 to 5, not gen 15, frick
go away time traveler
I've already played Fire Red to death and don't really give a shite about competitive battling and that. Is this romhack just adding in more Pokemon to Kanto or does it actually have story changes and additional areas?
There are some story changes, and I think they added a new area, but it’s mostly just a bunch of new Pokemon, and you have to think a bit more than usual, mostly in gym battles. There are some Hoenn/Johto trainers that show up from time to time.
Someone post the patched rom if they can, thanks in advance
https://www.mediafire.com/file/pe9lxxghic0nf66/RadicalRed4.0.gba/file
Here ya go lad
>kanto but with 10294383 mons
*yawns*
call me when you have a new region
>never played pokemon clover
*ywnbaw*
This game could have been good if it wasn't smogonshit but it is
Cool, let me know when Polished Crystal gets updated
>reddit hack has the worst dex ever now
WOAW SO HYPE
RR hater here, it's not a bad game in of itself but it completely ruined rom hack culture and panders to soi streamers now every rom hack has to be radical red
It may sound stupid but I agree it did ruin romhack culture to some extent. It feels like every difficulty hack now just throws Fire Fangs and Coverage Moves in the first handful of routes just to be """Difficult"""
They were doing this since Drayano and stuff like Vega or whatever it was called. The some variants of the Touhou hacks were also pretty grindy.
there is literally nothing wrong with this as long as the game gives you the options to deal with it without expecting you to grind. RR gives you a shit ton of options and the level cap makes it clear that there is no grinding and brute forcing it. you need to git gud
>d-did that poison gym leader just use bite against my psychic type? oh noo OH NOOOOO AIEEEEEEEEEEEE I'M GOING INSAAAAANE SAVE ME /r/pokemonromhacks BAD DESIGN BAD DESIGN AAAAAAAAAAAA
if you get filtered by non-STAB coverage moves that seems more like a skill issue. you got a brain and the AI doesn’t.
is your ideal pokemon game just walking into a grass gym and ohko’ing everything with flame wheel or something?
Not them, but how am I the one without a brain for utilizing super effective moves? The brainless would just spam big number, and not care that the ×2 SE can more than cover for the relative lack of BP?
QR code for 3ds now please.
>Meteorite at Pewter Museum now changes Deoxys form
>Cinnabar scientist now gives DNA Splicers if you show him Reshiram Kyurem or Zekrom
So where do you get them, their dex website only shows Kyurem as a Raid mon but what about the others?
Who the frick thought it was balanced to make Ceruledge and Armorouge available before Misty?
>randomizer still doesn't affect TMs or tutors
Garbage.
Which base rom?
Squirrels Fire Red, like most hacks for that game.
when do i get the dexnav
I agree there are too many difficulty hacks trying to ride on RR's coattails, but the people that obsessively whine over the game are actual babies, and I say this as someone that couldn't even get into the game
Does this game actually have the box space for every mon
Probably not because the game is coded like shit
Where the fuc k do rock types learn flying moves
Brock has an archen
Did they fix the randomized mode killing Dexnav.
Yes.
t. Beat all of this shit
All of these were far harder than Radical Red and far more enjoyable
troonycal Reddit is completely soulless slop with zero actual identity or the ability to do anything new, it's actually unironically easier than a lot of "difficulty" romhacks because it hands you the entire dex and every high tier competitive item before you beat the first gym, there's zero in the way of resource management, actual strategy, etc. just lazy counterteaming using broken Pokemon over and over again and then when the romhacker gave up figuring out how to make enemies harder he just stacked Uber legends by the end.
Not to mention the absolute gayest shit like Lt. Surge gaining Levitate on all of his Pokemon on his rematch because he's "arrogant", just a bunch of things that make no sense but are done for the sake of muh difficulty. A terribly designed hack from a slobbering jackass for other slobbering jackasses. Only thing it did "right" was Minimal Grinding which wasn't even a new concept and wasn't implemented initially.
do you have the rejuve mod download link?
https://mega.nz/file/dLQykCSb#qnqIepecCocaahe_JAcfxi-_JzYzlyajmKEGH0FVwho
I judge difficulty hacks by if they give the first gym leader 6 pokemon or not, too many don't know how to make it a fair challenge early on and compensate with full teams
>ROCK gym
>uses flying attacks on my grass
yeah not endorsing your cheating ass game
git good
>rock gym
>has a poison/steel type
If its rock/poison or rock/steel I can get it
Nope, latest version gives Brock Varoom, and Misty has a Clodsire too
See, that brock shit pisses me off
Why even keep the type basis if youre gonna throw it off a cliff? Damn steel type first gym would be literally impossible with the level cap currently in place.
Probably gave varoom levitate too for the laughs
get gud
Get a soul.
Just use Ponyta; it's right outside Pewter. Jfc, you guys are actually moronic
>fire type
>in a rock type gym
are you delusional
You haven't lived if never soloing Brock with a Charmander.
clearly it's not a pure rock type team as you acknowledged already, you fricking moron. just as the gym leader is mostly his type with a couple exceptions, you can bring one or two unique picks to deal with the counters too.
that's so fricking obvious, how stupid and rigid do you have to be to be unable to formulate that concept. brock isn't even hard he doesn't even have a full team of 6
i have to start keeping in mind now that this is the average person who gets filtered by rr
But if I bring the countercounters i cant deal with the actual normal shit because whoever built this shitty hack decided that stalling by switching, excessive recovery, and outright busted mons in the earlygame was a good teamstyle to use.
Dont get mad when someone calls out your lack of skill and claim it was intentionally moronic.
>stalling by switching, excessive recovery, and outright busted mons in the earlygame was a good teamstyle to use
lol you don't need any of this, you're just dumb
do you understand what i even put down? i was fricking saying that that SHIT, that reprehensible garbage playstyle being used THROUGHOUT the game was no excuse for the creator's lack of ability to fricking balance shit.
you don't need any of that throughout the game. unless you're basing your opinion entirely off of "PRO Nuzlocker nuzlockes IMPOSSIBLE Radical Red on HARDCORE MODE" videos
you're just bad
Are you saying trainers use stall? Some do, but they're few and far apart.
I don't think you can even use Toxic in hardcore iirc. I think some shitmons learn it, but it's not teachable via TM.
Yeah, almost all of them stall. Even the shit trainers will switch if shit isnt perfectly in their favor.
>stall is when the trainer switches out
lol
average radical red seether
frankly, ponyta is almost a cheat code, it breaks the early game. its stats are way too high for when it's available
The game gives you significantly more pokemon to use, it would be pointless if there wasn't also a reason to use them.
I started a fire Monotype, im gonna kick brocks ass and show you how easy it is
like clockwork
>>d-did that poison gym leader just use bite against my psychic type? oh noo OH NOOOOO AIEEEEEEEEEEEE I'M GOING INSAAAAANE SAVE ME /r/pokemonromhacks BAD DESIGN BAD DESIGN AAAAAAAAAAAA
least whiny RR hater
please explain to the class why Radical Red is shit
the moron creator made corviknight evolve in the late 60s because it basically soloed the game since he can't teambuild for shit.
that should tell you enough.
>cant even beat a set up sweeper with the type its weak to
damn blaine was done dirty in game wasnt he
He reverted that ages ago.
https://dex.radicalred.net/?species=SPECIES_CORVIKNIGHT&table=speciesTable&input=Corviknight&
Doesn't matter. Doing it in the first place is all anyone should need to not play anything by this homosexual.
dex bloat
feature bloat
tryhard difficulty
Basic RPG difficulty that's as hard as early final fantasy titles is tryhard? What? Do you people even play JRPGs besides pokemon?
Why is it always Final Fantasy when people are trying to flex on this board with all the other series they play?
They haven't actually played Final Fantasy
FF games are genuinely even easier than Pokemon outside a few bosses
depends on which FF you play. FFIV DS would filter out 80% of this board easy
Not really and FF is on average is one of the easier JRPG series.
actually true. 99% of FF games are just mindless combat that basically plays itself, and the occasional puzzle boss.
It doesn't matter how many Pokemon they add, I'm not playing another Fire Red hack using the same Kanto map I've ran through countless times.
I hate the fan made regional forms, that was completely unnescesary.
So they're just like the official ones
What even are the Fanginal Forms
:< Mean!
Why did they only turn some of the gigantmax forms intos megas?
I want to use Mega Grimmsnarl
I'll play it when its creator stops being a lazy incompetent frick and codes in Unbound's EV changer so I can play Hardcore mode with EVs
Or just open source the damn thing so I can code it in myself
Typical /vp/ poster post gen 5
Cool, let me know when there's a Moemon patch for it.
I don't think Radical Red is that difficult.
Nuzlocking it is extremely difficult, but otherwise it's a very interesting and fun hack.
I tried radical red and it was too hard so I set it to easy and the game is better now
I'm happy someone in this thread actually played the game and understood the most obvious solution to the difficulty
I tried radical red and it was too easy but the hard mode is just removing everything that isn't a basic attacking move and that sounds boring as hell
