The reason those jungle/post-apo settings are so popular is because it's much easier to make good graphics with them.
When you are dealing with nature/ruined and overgrown cities you really have only one source of light to compute - the Sun. Everything else can be very static. If time of day doesn't change, that's even better.
This is the reason why all of those open world RPGs with cities and dynamic NPCs look so fricking awful. There are just too many things for computer to look at for the game to look good.

Even if they turned on the option to read triple or quadruple layer BDs (like the Xbox) so the likely 100+ gb game fit on a single disk, the load times would be considered "unacceptable" by today's standards, and the shitters around here would rip it apart for that instead.

It's competently put together and it has a high degree of polish. The game is decently paced too and has some cool sections for the entire duration so at least for a first playthrough it leaves a good impression. But once you replay it or start looking at the mechanics with a more critical eye it completely falls appart, I remember playing it and liking it, then I replayed the original trilogy and then Nu-GoW again and I hated it.

I prefer the TV for controller games and I don't like changing windows inputs for TV because its annoying. FPS games I will use PC or anything I want mods but I really dont see a huge difference between 144fps in games with controllers vs 60.

The reason those jungle/post-apo settings are so popular is because it's much easier to make good graphics with them.
When you are dealing with nature/ruined and overgrown cities you really have only one source of light to compute - the Sun. Everything else can be very static. If time of day doesn't change, that's even better.
This is the reason why all of those open world RPGs with cities and dynamic NPCs look so fricking awful. There are just too many things for computer to look at for the game to look good.
So just make them smaller. Not every game must have open world.

Not to put a stop to the doom and gloom screeching, but the BD player in the PS4 and PS5 has a maximum read speed of around ~35 MB/s, which is slower than a standard HDD. Even if they turned on the option to read triple or quadruple layer BDs (like the Xbox) so the likely 100+ gb game fit on a single disk, the load times would be considered "unacceptable" by today's standards, and the shitters around here would rip it apart for that instead.

It's competently put together and it has a high degree of polish. The game is decently paced too and has some cool sections for the entire duration so at least for a first playthrough it leaves a good impression. But once you replay it or start looking at the mechanics with a more critical eye it completely falls appart, I remember playing it and liking it, then I replayed the original trilogy and then Nu-GoW again and I hated it.

I did beat all the valkyries but played on normal. Hard mode just looked like boring tedium rather than difficult by inflating enemy health to a silly degree so I didnt play on hard.
