I’ve only played like 6 hours but so far i’d say it’s not as good as danganronpa.
Mostly because I don’t care for any of the characters at all, and as for the MC he’s fine I guess but the “woe is me I’m not a “real” detective even though I solve everything singlehandedly and everyone else is a moron” Schtick was already done better in DRV3.
It’s better than world ends club though but that one was really mediocre at best.

I think I'm starting to understand what Rain Code is. Kodaka didn't want Danganronpa to end, he wanted it to evolve. He got tired of the killing games and stories that got progressively more and more ridiculous (before going completely off the rails with DR3). He probably played a ton of Persona 5 and wanted to do that but with Danganronpa, a story not limited by the killing game setup or the whole hope/despair shtick. Still a murder mystery adventure game, still unmistakably DR, but not the tired concept from before. Except Chunsoft probably told him to stick his ambitions where the sun doesn't shine, because they didn't want to experiment. So he left the company with the other two guys, and started working on the Danganronpa he wanted to make.
The whole appeal of DR is its autistic rules and limitations though, like 15 students, the school setting, the guaranteed kills.
The appeal of DR is in how insane it is, with crazy characters and mysteries that wouldn't fly in any serious detective story.

I got it to run at like 100 frames on ryujinx, but then for some moronic reason the moment you exit the game and run it again, it just locks it at 30.
You can delete SystemSave and get "vsync off" to work again, but then your detective rank in game fricking resets to level 1.

It works on Emu like Ryujinx with minimal issues. It is capped at 30fps and the Dynamic Resolution is on. If this does not bother you yet go for it.

Yes, keep it low because the patch overrides the setting anyway, but putting it above 1x introduces some visual glitches.
I see I will use it and keep it at native. Hopefully there is now a way for the uncapped fps. I would like it to run in 60fps or 120fps.

Just finished the first case. My impression so far is that the gameplay loop seems fairly similar to Dangan Ronpa: "Normal Day" until something happens, then investigation, then mystery labyrinth/trial.
I also feel like many of the annoyances I had with DR will likely also rear their head here:

>if you figure something out before the game arrives at it, the whole dancing around the situation could be tedious
>the summary at the end is kind of a chore since you already figured everything out
How they compare, we will see. I think Raincode has generally speaking a potentially more interesting setting than DR, I haven't seen enough of the supporting characters to compare (or if there is a charismatic villain like Monokuma)... Ultimately, the deciding factor is going to be the quality of the cases, and if the overarching story is gripping enough without the immediacy of Monokuma running a dead game.

Try playing off SSD. I tried both ways and I believe playing of SSD makes loadings faster. Not lightning-fast, but every bit counts.

You are a detective tasked with solving a big mystery in a city, and to do that you need to solve other mysteries in said city which are murder cases.
you explore the city looking for clues, investigating crime scenes, talking to people etc, there are also side quests that from what i played are mostly fetch quests.
the "trial" has you going through a labyrinth where you figure out the mystery. you do this by doing minigames that are conceptually very similar to what you found on DR but there are a few new ones as well.
That's the gist of it.
The blant black void blocking Shinigami's panties is more distracting that actual pantyshots. Just begs the question why make a obviously lewd character just to censor her during development?
