>Ironically enough, rock music as a cultural force kind of died with Guitar Hero
I'm happy to say you're incorrect. Pandemic sells of instruments and related accessories were one of the highest in the last 50 years.
Electric guitar along with in home recording is more accessible than it ever has been.
There is definitely a big cohort of zoomers getting into guitar through TikTok and shit. I haven't really seen a lot of actual rock from them though
The note timing is horrendous. It's way too loose, and nullifies any sense of accomplishment coming off of GH2's perfect gameplay.
The songs themselves are charted in incredibly fricked up ways. Neversoft came in and had no idea what they were doing until much later. Songs like Before I Forget are absolutely wretched. For comparison, here's the GH3 chart compared to the RB3 chart. The chords are supposed to be played with one finger.
?t=188
The boss battles are absolute garbage. The mode is completely anti-fun, and trying to make your opponent fail a song has nothing to do with the game's theme of trying to make you feel like a rockstar. World Tour would fix the boss battles completely by making it just a jam with you and Zakk Wylde/Ted Nugent.
Finally, Neversoft somehow managed to ruin the characters in a game with no dialogue. Izzy looks like he's 70, Johnny's facial proportions are completely fricked up, Judy went from cute alt rock chick to turbo bawd (which might be realistic), and so on and so on. Midori was cool, though.
>Neversoft came in and had no idea what they were doing until much later.
This is true. Fun fact by the way, GH3 runs on the newest engine Neversoft had that was available, which was a fricking Tony Hawk engine that they forced a Guitar Hero game into.
I liked what they did with stuff like that Before I Forget section. Making it accurate doesn't make it necessarily fun to play. I'd rather the note charts were "designed" in a way that makes them fun to play, with curves in difficulty throughout, like a video game level. Some songs are just boring if you chart them accurately, and are more fun if you take more liberties.
for drums? I think so. I cant say for sure for guitar because Ive been playing it since like 07. Easy is really easy though because my friend's wife picked it up pretty easily

to be frank, pic related was kino Hayley Williams during the Riot! era of Paramore. Brand New Eyes was good, but was the last true Paramore album before the Farro brothers left the band in late 2010. Self Titled was meh, After Laughter was a basic b***h "I'm 14 and this is deep" album centered around Hayley's chronic depression she was going through at the time in her personal life, and This Is Why which came out earlier this year reeks of baby's first "political" album and coincides with Hayley Williams descent into far SJW left political correctness as evidenced below when she told anybody who's to the right of her that they are "FRICKING dead to her".
She's literally been blacked multiple times in the past few years, it's become increasingly common even with the most middle/upper middle class goody two shoes white girls.

Save your SP for Solo B, the part I nearly failed because I didn’t have SP. Everything else doesn’t come close to that. I could probably learn how to tap it but it would take like a week.
God that note chart is so dumb in places looking back now. What the hell were they thinking with that string of oranges at 3:06? The audio is almost the same lick as a second earlier but higher, it's not even close to all the same note.
I beat jordan once before my PS2 died but none of my friends believed me, did it again on clone hero but the note timings are more lax there, fricking bullshit
Jordan was the last song I couldn't beat in GH2 and 3. One day I figured I'd try beating everything in GH2 on easy since I never bothered to get that achievement. Got bored halfway through Heart Shaped Box then played Jordan on expert and beat it first try. That was a nice day.

Mainstream is completely pointless in the internet era. I could not tell you what is "mainstream" because I can just use the internet to find what I want. Rock and Metal festivals still to this day sell out almost instantly so the audience is still there. New bands pop up all the time that grow a fanbase. I am just tired of people jerking off about rock being dead instead of going out and finding all the awesome music is out there.

Yeah, for that 7 month period where no one was allowed outside. I'd like to see sales figures of this year + the returns from the last several. >these Black folk are really trying to convince me rock music has any relevance to anyone under the age of 40
Even a 30yr old boomer like myself knows that's not true. Gen Z doesn't give a frick about anything other than "YEAH homie GIT MONEE homie SUK MAI DIK homie" because gen Z is mostly Mexican now anyway. I literally have not seen anyone remotely young listening to anything other than fricking mumble rap drill music dogshit in like 5 years.
That is true. The world loves Blacks. Everyone under 40 bows down to the BBC and ghetto black Black person gospel that is rap. We live in a feminist, troony, Black person loving world and we will die in it.
Picrel>>>all of those.
It's literally the best guitar hero game and super underrated.
Great setlist, great engine, great presentation, great extras, great features, fun interesting story mode, fun characters and venues. It's unbelievable how much soul it had for being the 6th main entry.
The fact it sold badly was through no fault of the game itself, it was because of the extreme fatigue from getting 10 half assed games a year that no one cared about anymore.
Sudden Death was epic, and a much better finale than TTFAF. Long without being annoyingly drawn out, super difficult without being arbitrary bullshit, actually good solos instead of studio sped-up chopped up sound effects, just better in every way.
GH3 - Was my second of the franchise
GH2 - Was my first of the franchise
GH:80's - Really enjoyed the setlist
GH:Aerosmith - Charts were fun and that was all that mattered for me when this came out
GH1 - It was alright but I ended up playing it years later
I can do green yellow blue or the like easy, its a Bm chord. But there is NOTHING like this bullshit on a real guitar and the pinky isnt meant to form like that without tapping the middle button
put your guitar on the table backwards and press the buttons in question down with your left hand like a keyboard. then keep them held down while slowly moving the guitar into playing position. see if that works

2 > 1 > 3
80s was practically an expansion pack for 2 (fun setlist). Never played Aerosmith. HoPos felt too effortless in 3, but I did appreciate having actual masters instead of covers. It's been a while since I've played any of them though. Once Rock Band came on the scene I never really looked back.
Mainline only:
1. World Tour
2. 3 (it's close though)
3. 2
4. 5
5. Warriors of Rock
6. Live
7. 1
The first game is undeniably shit. The engine flatout did not work properly. 2 improved drastically by allowing hammer-ons and pull-offs. 3 perfected the engine and is probably the best one mechanically, but WT's tracklist is so much more varied and larger than 3 that I think it comes out on top.
All the rest til Live were just building on what 3 had perfected.
not only is it not bait, it's an undeniable fact. there's a reason Clone Hero is based on GH3, and that GH3 was the one that EVERYBODY modded/added games to.
Finally, a thread for me! >Guitar Hero II >Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s >Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock >Guitar Hero >Guitar Hero Aerosmith
Rock Band 2 blows all these out of the water though.

Rock music in the 2020s is like what jazz music was in the 80s. Like yeah it still exists, but most of the guys who originated the sounds are dead or dying and who really cares.
So you just want to live in denial.
No, you just never refuted my original point so my mind remains unchanged that rock music is culturally irrelevant. And now I must go to bed.
>if you ignore everything that proves me wrong i'm right
ah yes denial
We went to a local metal show and it was 100% zoomers the frick
King Gizzard, Parrounal, Viagra Boys, Gnome, Elder, Mid Air Thief,
>le doesn't count argument
ah yes popular bands aren't infact popular because then you can't jerk off about how unique you are.
Only really good one is gizz
Ah so we're going down the generic Ganker path of just saying there shit?
Maybe try actually finding music you enjoy from new artists around the world instead of jerking off about rock being dead
>bands in the same genre use similar sounds
Woah it's almost like that's how genres work. Next you'll be amazed that every FPS involves a gun and a first person perspective.
Parannoul and Mid Air Thief are really overrated, maybe the 2 I haven't heard are good
Overrated is such a fricking meaningless term to use. Just say you don't fricking like them.
Time has taught me that popular bands are usually popular for some reason or another. There are some needles in the haystack out there, but go too deep into any genre and everything starts to sound really same-y after a while.
The fact I don't know any young people bands speaks volumes, does it not? I know all the current rappers because that shit is spammed everywhere all the time. I can't even remember the last time I saw even a promo photo of someone holding a guitar.
I bet you won't name the band.
>The fact I don't know any young people bands speaks volumes, does it not?
Because you're not young and not in the know? Simple as that
>I bet you won't name the band.
Earthbound.
>Spend like a minute on Bandcamp
Lol no. The mere fact that all you can point to is some band 15 people know only proves my point.
He's right though, current rock music fell out of mainstream status in the early 2010s.
>Ironically enough, rock music as a cultural force kind of died with Guitar Hero
I'm happy to say you're incorrect. Pandemic sells of instruments and related accessories were one of the highest in the last 50 years.
Electric guitar along with in home recording is more accessible than it ever has been.
>Pandemic sells of instruments and related accessories were one of the highest in the last 50 years.

>2 simply for Jordan
For me it's Less Talk More Rokk.
2>3>1 didnt play the spinoffs
Rock music died with MTV and the popularity of Black personfication stuff like GTA:SA and Eminem
>no new guitar hero games in over a decade
>clone hero doesnt have midori or judy nails
5-fret bros....
YARG domination soon™
>used to play GH3 on the Wii
>upgrade to the PC version
>realize Judy has jiggle physics in the HD versions
did they really think releasing this many games in 5 years wouldn't kill the series?
This was before yearly releases were a thing and they were relatively easy to put together.
I'd imagine they kind of knew it was a fad and wanted to capitalize as much as possible.
To be fair if DLC and live service games were viable back then this would have actually been an underwhelming amount of content.
in retrospective it was the right choice, considering that after this nobody(zoomers who buy games) gave a frick about rock anymore.
Picrel>>>all of those.
It's literally the best guitar hero game and super underrated.
Great setlist, great engine, great presentation, great extras, great features, fun interesting story mode, fun characters and venues. It's unbelievable how much soul it had for being the 6th main entry.
Someone actually played this? I thought this sold so badly that it literally killed the rhythm game.
No there was way more games after.
Not really? Just RB4 and GHLive.
The fact it sold badly was through no fault of the game itself, it was because of the extreme fatigue from getting 10 half assed games a year that no one cared about anymore.
This one even came with the best guitar.
Megadeth song made for the game
That 2112 Rush set list
It was too good.
Sudden Death was epic, and a much better finale than TTFAF. Long without being annoyingly drawn out, super difficult without being arbitrary bullshit, actually good solos instead of studio sped-up chopped up sound effects, just better in every way.
this is how you looked playing guitar hero in 2008
this is how i look playing it in 2023
you can practically smell the virginity from that clip
You should shower.
You don't need 2 hands for that, unless you're just practising tapping with both.
Im a speedlet, even on a good day theres no way i could hit all that one handed.
GH3 - Was my second of the franchise
GH2 - Was my first of the franchise
GH:80's - Really enjoyed the setlist
GH:Aerosmith - Charts were fun and that was all that mattered for me when this came out
GH1 - It was alright but I ended up playing it years later
Warriors of Rock and Metallica were top tier.
gh2 > gh1 > gh3 > ghE > gha
how the FRICK do I hit these splits?
I can do green yellow blue or the like easy, its a Bm chord. But there is NOTHING like this bullshit on a real guitar and the pinky isnt meant to form like that without tapping the middle button
?
Slide your hand down so your pointer is on red, middle on yellow, and pinky on orange.
I CANT FRICKING DO IT
You could be a madlad and use ring on orange.
can you press down the F D and A keys on your keyboard at once? I don't understand how that could be hard unless you're missing a finger
hard to explain I guess but its different depending on how my hand is facing
put your guitar on the table backwards and press the buttons in question down with your left hand like a keyboard. then keep them held down while slowly moving the guitar into playing position. see if that works
wait, I think youre confusing what Im saying. I can hit something like green yellow blue easily. Its the inverse that fricks it up
like AS+F, but on a guitar neck
doesn't really change my advice. but are you saying you just have trouble pressing that button combo at all? or just in time with the music for some reason? cause if it's the former I think something might be wrong with your hand
no, I can hit GYB/RBO easily
but GRB/RYO always fricks me up
idk man, do some pinky exercises or sumn
if you can't do that then how the frick do you play a real guitar?
if there are no green notes, slide your pointer finger up to red.
2 > 1 > 3
80s was practically an expansion pack for 2 (fun setlist). Never played Aerosmith. HoPos felt too effortless in 3, but I did appreciate having actual masters instead of covers. It's been a while since I've played any of them though. Once Rock Band came on the scene I never really looked back.

5 was killer too
Mainline only:
1. World Tour
2. 3 (it's close though)
3. 2
4. 5
>3 perfected the engine and is probably the best one mechanically
gr8 b8 m8 i r8 8/8
not only is it not bait, it's an undeniable fact. there's a reason Clone Hero is based on GH3, and that GH3 was the one that EVERYBODY modded/added games to.
2 > Metallica >= 5 > 80s > who cares
3 is the only one that’s playable
Aerosmith isn’t because Aerosmith sucks major ass
Finally, a thread for me!
>Guitar Hero II
>Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s
>Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock
>Guitar Hero
>Guitar Hero Aerosmith
Rock Band 2 blows all these out of the water though.
I love RB2's setlist. Harmonix had spectacular taste.
What went wrong?
i can't remember if i ever did jordan on expert
i did fire and flames though
