Its a great game, but too safe and feels stale as a result. I might pirate it if difficulty mods or doubling enemy count mods come out cause that sounds like fun. Otherwise if you've never played it, it is a good game but not sure if its full price worthy as someone who bought it day 1 on PS5 as a fan of the series.

Whether OP buys, waits for a sale, or pirates, I still recommend it. It's definitely safe like you said but at least it feels like a step forward after a decade of nothing but the movie game, which was pulled down by being tied up in the development of the movie.
Weapons are good, control is good, graphics are good, most of it avoids falling into cringey humor territory and ranges from inoffensive to genuinely funny, and it strikes a good balance between the lightheartedness of the PS2 era and the broader narrative scope of the PS3 era.
I honestly just wanted Rivet and Ratchet to have some slight gameplay mechanic differences just to make the universes feel different. Having Ratchet come in and most weapons feel like they are just from his universe feels a bit lame, and Rivet doesn't use her mech arm for unique weapons. Also would have to load up a save but it felt like too many returning weapons, or weapons that share similar playstyles.
Rift Apart is 60FPS on the PS5 but now he will be 100+ which will probably feel insane to actually play.
the game sucks. the combat is braindead and boring. I mildly chuckled once during the entire thing, when Dr Nef laughs maniacally and his assistant joins. That's it.

Even on potato mode, the SSD is recommended. Anything above that requires an SSD. The PS5 definitely performs above the minimum specs, which requires the SSD.

SSDs typically allow for faster boot ups and transfer of stored data than HDDs. I’m not a programmer for the game so I can’t be certain, but at the very low settings, the lowest quality assets won’t take too long to load when needed on an HDD. Maybe on any higher settings, it’s too much for a typical HDD to transfer within a reasonable amount of time.

I only played R&C1 with the HD Trilogy so that was my first experience with it and I simply didn't like a lot of the design decisions even though I knew what to expect and went into it knowing I wouldn't have level ups or strafing. If I played it before I ever played GC or UYA it might be a rank or two higher but my experience now has it where it is.

I actually was in the same situation as you last night, I came the conclusion that I wasn't actually excited for this game, I was excited because of nostalgia for the PS2 games.
Ratchet & Clank will never be the same as they were back then, I had pre-purchased this the day it came to steam, but last night when I started pre-loading I was hit with the realization that I'm not actually interested.
Maybe I'll buy it later on when it's on sale, but for now it's not what I'm looking for.

It’s simple fun from like the early 2000’s games. For example, if you collect all the gold bolts, you can turn on things like big head mode or cheats like infinite ammo or invincibility. Not many modern games have that anymore.
The only complaint is that the story and writing is a bit sanitized and the bosses are repetitive, but I still had fun. Aside from ACiT, probably the best R&C game since the PS2 games.

Because this is just to get money on stuff people want now. PC is just a secondary revenue stream years after several games have been released. They're not even digging deeper into their PS4 catalogue either because they're not touching stuff like Gravity Rush or Bloodborne, or even the original TLOU Remastered.
Performance and visuals mainly. Same with SM. I think they still had the same glitches even.

No, R&C peaks at R&C3 (or 2, or 1, in that trilogy anyway) and has been on decline ever since. There has been few ok games and one people consider great (Crack in TIme) but it has never reached even close to the original trilogy. The soul is gone, the humour is terrible and combat is the same shit. But for one playtrough, for cheap? Yeah Rift Apart is worth it, just don't pay too much, theres a reason theres not that much hype.
The series peaked at R&C4 for me, I agree with everything else.
It's a damn shame we never saw the combat bots again as side characters.
