Ratchet and Clank is one of those bizarre franchises that has been around for 20 years but has very little cultural impact. By that I mean you never meet self proclaimed Ratchet and Clank fans. You never see Ratchet and Clank merchandise in stores. You never see Ratchet and Clank referenced in other media. Even people who have played the games struggle to name memorable lines or characters who aren’t slapped on the box art. The movie was a colossal flop. Yet the games keep being made.
That's because Sony are bumbling idiots who can't take the hint. Jak & Daxter along with Sly Cooper were the franchises with more personality. Rachet and Clank is the more technically impressive franchise.

I'd almost say to just skip R&C1 and go to 2. The first game is pretty rough and the sequels polish things up a ton.
First game and second onwards have different design philosophies. R&C1 feels like a Spyro evolution, then they turned it into a fun shooter.

Ratchet and Clank is one of those bizarre franchises that has been around for 20 years but has very little cultural impact. By that I mean you never meet self proclaimed Ratchet and Clank fans. You never see Ratchet and Clank merchandise in stores. You never see Ratchet and Clank referenced in other media. Even people who have played the games struggle to name memorable lines or characters who aren’t slapped on the box art. The movie was a colossal flop. Yet the games keep being made.
That's because Sony are bumbling idiots who can't take the hint. Jak & Daxter along with Sly Cooper were the franchises with more personality. Rachet and Clank is the more technically impressive franchise.
Sony chose tech over personality and it's finally catching up to them how vapid the series is on a fundamental level. The problem is they neglected the other franchises so much that the core developers have moved on.
And with Microsoft more or less effectively achieving the Activision Blizzard buyout Sony may very well lose Spyro and Crash too. So now they're stuck with Rachet and Clank who very little care about now.
The PC audience is a very different one to the Playstation audience. A cinematic """platformer""" like R&C isn't going to garner much attention. Just stop wasting everyone's time and port the souls shit steamgays have been begging for.

Clickbait article. If you read the article, they based it off if max concurrent players. Most of the games ahead of it are open world games that take 50-60 hours to finish. This game is a linear single player game that is 10-12 hours playtime. Of course that stat will favor open world shit.

I've never played a Ratchet game but I would like to one day play Rift Apart. Everything based on just looking at it comes across to me as a very nice looking quality game. Problem though is that it is a 3D platformer. People just do not care for this genre period.
