Definitely worse than last year. Most announcements just didn't hit for me. Phantom Liberty deserved more love. Hi-Fi Rush deserved more love. But confirmation that we're getting a new Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi redeems it a bit. Also Christopher Judge roasting Cod was pretty great. 6/10.

Spider-Mid 2 won nothing, BG3 won goty, the negress from AW2 lost best performance, and we got to see Herald of Darkness (albeit shortened) live. A decent show, but the game announcements were pretty weak. The only thing I'm even tentatively interested in is Blade, and only because it's Arkane. Everything else was bland shooters or shit that just didn't look good.
Arkane trying to suck EGS wiener and failed hard so I assume making Blade is good idea. Unless they do ruin Blade's character. But I know him only based on movies

The game selections for the awards was fricking terrible. No Amnesia the Bunker? No System Shock remake? No Firmament? I know that wasn't a big game or a particularly well liked one, but I feel like Cyan has a significant enough history in video games that it deserves to be mentioned.
They should have had more indie categories, not just "best indie game". My Friendly Neighborhood deserved a mention, they could've had a best indie shooter section to get in games like Zortch, Hrot, Trepang2 and Boltgun.
Also maybe it flew under the radar, but I wish Franz got a mention in the mobile games section. It's better than most mobile games automatically by just being an actual game and not a trick to make you spend hundreds of dollars on useless shit. It's pretty damning to the mobile game sphere when just being a normal, legitimate game puts you above 99% of all other mobile games.
I'd say a 8.5 not like ff7 remake reveal hype levels but pretty awesome year for announcements. the actual awards part of the show sucked. they cut off the one voice actor who won best performance way too early. it's the 1 singular award that's a celebration of a person and he got all of like 2 minutes frick that you had that one God of war idiot rambling for 10 minutes last time and his performance in gow2 sucked ass and gow2 didn't even win goty , this was the best performance of the best goty in a very long time and you homosexuals cut him off after like a minute into his speech
All the awards except for the indie ones made sense, Pizza Tower and Dave the Diver should have had best debut/best indie.

The game selections for the awards was fricking terrible. No Amnesia the Bunker? No System Shock remake? No Firmament? I know that wasn't a big game or a particularly well liked one, but I feel like Cyan has a significant enough history in video games that it deserves to be mentioned.
They should have had more indie categories, not just "best indie game". My Friendly Neighborhood deserved a mention, they could've had a best indie shooter section to get in games like Zortch, Hrot, Trepang2 and Boltgun.
Also maybe it flew under the radar, but I wish Franz got a mention in the mobile games section. It's better than most mobile games automatically by just being an actual game and not a trick to make you spend hundreds of dollars on useless shit. It's pretty damning to the mobile game sphere when just being a normal, legitimate game puts you above 99% of all other mobile games.

I'd say a 8.5 not like ff7 remake reveal hype levels but pretty awesome year for announcements. the actual awards part of the show sucked. they cut off the one voice actor who won best performance way too early. it's the 1 singular award that's a celebration of a person and he got all of like 2 minutes frick that you had that one God of war idiot rambling for 10 minutes last time and his performance in gow2 sucked ass and gow2 didn't even win goty , this was the best performance of the best goty in a very long time and you homosexuals cut him off after like a minute into his speech
honestly the reveals were so bad that the deaf musical game is probably in the top 3 best announcements.

All the awards except for the indie ones made sense, Pizza Tower and Dave the Diver should have had best debut/best indie.
Game announcements were pretty meh for the most part this year, Kojima + Peele is pretty big tho. And while I don't like survival crafting shit, Sean Murray's promise of like a 1:1 scale planet actually is interesting.
