Believe me, you might not know it, but many Super Mario RPG fans have begged Nintendo for years for a Remake of Super Mario RPG to just have one more time because of Geno.
If it sells well, Geno has a chance in the next smash. The only reason he was never in was because Sakurai wasn't sure if anyone would actually care or know who he is.

Amen brother, i remember the old days on Ganker Ganker when Sony fans mocked us for not having ANY JRPG's and they proclaimed themselves the weeb console. Now we get original titles like Splatoon, a new RPG franchise like Xenoblade, innovations on older franchises like Mario Odyssey and Zelda BOTW/TOTK. It's been a long time since we had anything this good in awhile. People just do not have the best frame of reference for how bad droughts would be on Nintendo especially Gamecube.

I’ve never seen a presentation from any company that had more than 4 interesting games in its lineup, so expecting even half of the games showcased to be that is a pretty unrealistic expectation imo. Mario games were good, msg was a nice surprise, so it gets a passing grade for me. I’d be harsher if it weren’t for the fact that all the other presentations this year were hot garbage.

Been debunked since at least Mario Sunshine. They still see Gamecube games as a premium and it was when games started getting longer than a couple of hours. No way they were ever getting given away for free. Giving away N64 games as is prob makes them bite their fingernails a little.

A lot of Mario stuff, not so much other stuff, nice to see Metal Gear acknowledge non-Solid games, but hefty dermerit for having a Pokémon NPC in the DLC have the same name as i named my trainer, FRICK., although i guess it was bound to happen eventually.

That's exactly why the placement was terrible. You put a game that you wouldn't put much attention to at the end so that it gets recognition. Most former Direct watchers nowadays just skip to the end anyway because that's where there's content actually worth watching.
The first person action fantasy game looked neat, but my hype died when co-op was mentioned. Same thing with Sonic Superstars- co-op is going to neuter actual level design. The Mania team’s new game looks great at least.

overall 10/10 by default because the Nintendo Directs are always way more interesting than the other shows, though for full disclosure I didn't even bother with anything besides SGF's show, Day of the Devs and Devolver Ending the direct with Mario TFing into an elephant was terrifying and Nintendo doesn't know what they have just wrought.
of the entire 40 minutes, only 10 minutes of it was actually worth watching so... 2.5/10.
Also notice with the latest Directs that since there are so few first-party or even second-party exclusive games to showcase now, they pad 80% of the Directs with games you can already get on other systems. They did not do this in the WiiU/3DS era.

I haven't seen animation that stiff and lifeless with poses that wonky in decades.
Closest I've seen recently was an indie game called assault spy. Certainly nothing by Nintendo or highly regarded studios.
Honestly I thought the same thing as the first part of the trailer, but warmed up to it as it showed more stuff. I think they went with it because detailed animations tend to be at odds with good controls, which is a problem when you’re making a precision platformer in 3d.
Mario odyssey had a whole new axis, so animations only look more detailed because they added a turning animation. I should have probably specified 2d. Just think hollow knight with 3d models. It would look super weird.

The Nintendo Direct was great. The Xbox Direct was pretty great too.
Otherwise I honestly think all the other showcases just ranged from kind of alright to terrible.
The Playstation and Capcom showcases in particular were terrible. And they were two of the showcases I had the highest expectations for.
But I actually quite liked the Nintendo direct. Maybe it wasn't amazing. I guess there was not a single actually amazing showcase this entire "E3" season.
But this might have been the closest. Just a step or two under amazing. I really liked it.
PlayStation showcase turned out to be a major letdown, primarily due to snoys excessive hype, suggesting it would be akin to the second arrival of Jesus. However, it turned out to be even more disappointing than the most pessimistic individuals could have fathomed.
As someone who might be the person in question, I doubt it's worse than I thought it would be. I don't know because I haven't watched a State of Play since probably their 3rd or 4th one.
Loved seeing more info on Pikmin 4, and seeing all of the Pikmin series available on the Switch

Believe me, you might not know it, but many Super Mario RPG fans have begged Nintendo for years for a Remake of Super Mario RPG to just have one more time because of Geno.
If it sells well, Geno has a chance in the next smash. The only reason he was never in was because Sakurai wasn't sure if anyone would actually care or know who he is.
Peach game gave me Wonder Momo vibes, especially the transfomation-on-a-stage thing but it's way early to properly guess anything about it.

Amen brother, i remember the old days on Ganker Ganker when Sony fans mocked us for not having ANY JRPG's and they proclaimed themselves the weeb console. Now we get original titles like Splatoon, a new RPG franchise like Xenoblade, innovations on older franchises like Mario Odyssey and Zelda BOTW/TOTK. It's been a long time since we had anything this good in awhile. People just do not have the best frame of reference for how bad droughts would be on Nintendo especially Gamecube.
I love Nintendo but that was an awful direct, but it's clear it's because of Switch ending its life cycle.

I’ve never seen a presentation from any company that had more than 4 interesting games in its lineup, so expecting even half of the games showcased to be that is a pretty unrealistic expectation imo. Mario games were good, msg was a nice surprise, so it gets a passing grade for me. I’d be harsher if it weren’t for the fact that all the other presentations this year were hot garbage.

Those games were already ported on the Wii, I doubt it was that hard. But yeah that moment and the weird "oh yeah here's a new Peach game and Dark Moon port" were both weirdly shoved in and weirdly rushed like what the frick.
The Peach and Dark Moon game seemed earlier in development but they probably figured "well the whole direct has a lot of Mario as it is".
They're smaller projects that can't open or close future directs so they probably figured it was no hassle to reveal that they exist

Been debunked since at least Mario Sunshine. They still see Gamecube games as a premium and it was when games started getting longer than a couple of hours. No way they were ever getting given away for free. Giving away N64 games as is prob makes them bite their fingernails a little.
I think it might be because of the fact both 1 and 2 did release on WII so it was easier to move onto Switch than GC version.
To be fair, ASH already came out. This is just a standalone version.

The first person action fantasy game looked neat, but my hype died when co-op was mentioned. Same thing with Sonic Superstars- co-op is going to neuter actual level design. The Mania team’s new game looks great at least.

overall 10/10 by default because the Nintendo Directs are always way more interesting than the other shows, though for full disclosure I didn't even bother with anything besides SGF's show, Day of the Devs and Devolver

Closest I've seen recently was an indie game called assault spy. Certainly nothing by Nintendo or highly regarded studios.
Honestly I thought the same thing as the first part of the trailer, but warmed up to it as it showed more stuff. I think they went with it because detailed animations tend to be at odds with good controls, which is a problem when you’re making a precision platformer in 3d.

The Nintendo Direct was great. The Xbox Direct was pretty great too.
Otherwise I honestly think all the other showcases just ranged from kind of alright to terrible.
The Playstation and Capcom showcases in particular were terrible. And they were two of the showcases I had the highest expectations for.
But I actually quite liked the Nintendo direct. Maybe it wasn't amazing. I guess there was not a single actually amazing showcase this entire "E3" season.
But this might have been the closest. Just a step or two under amazing. I really liked it.
PlayStation showcase turned out to be a major letdown, primarily due to snoys excessive hype, suggesting it would be akin to the second arrival of Jesus. However, it turned out to be even more disappointing than the most pessimistic individuals could have fathomed.
As someone who might be the person in question, I doubt it's worse than I thought it would be. I don't know because I haven't watched a State of Play since probably their 3rd or 4th one.
