Overcast lighting is where this technology really shines. Scenarios where indirect light bounces around in closed environments, too. Is it worth the crazy computational load though? Argualy not for now.
Exactly, that's the effect it ends up having. I was using HDR and it just got annoying to see stuff at night time and in dark places. This would probably be just as annoying
My favorite cope from all the sub 50 IQ third worlders is definitely the "muh ENB/ reshade" one for sure. Legitimately evokes the idea that some dog or other animal is "looking" at these comparisons that genuinely doesnt understand what shadows or light are on a conceptual level so all they know is that one image has more contrast than the other one
modern gaming is cutting your framerate to 20% with raytracing to get slightly nicer shadows and reflections and then upscaling from 720p mess to increase your framerate a little and making the game look like a blurry, mushy in the process. the future is truly here forsen
Black person I know for a fact you're cranking up the brightness in the regular lighting screenshots. Raytracing can look good yes, but it barely makes a difference in this particular game and it's not worth it
Like the Nvidia Mix thing >make le every game look amazing and raytracing >hired 20 people to remodel and retexture everything in the scene >rtx on rtx off comparison
Nvidia invented modding
Why? The same bitter 3rd worlders will still chant their mantra that RT is a meme and that some ancient GPU running on a 720p monitor is all anyone needs.
>why
So we can see the framerate difference. >720p monitor
Funny you say that because isn't upscaling from dogshit resolutions what's required to have what ends up being much needed frames with RTX on anyways?
>can't even average the minimum monitor fps of 60 at QHD >can't even average 30fps at UHD
So with the 4090 RTX they want everyone to remain 1080p gaming and pay 2k for it?
The true meme of the shill comes out.
HD upscaled to UHD is not UHD.

See, you're completely clueless. You don't even know what DLSS is.
You're conflating frame generation of DLSS 3 with the upscaling of DLSS 2. They are different and you can run either or.
Stop getting your information from some youtube video and see it first hand before you go online pretending to be some reference of a subject you clearly know absolutely fricking nothing about.

Nvidia's strategy is basically >push proprietary RT solutions only your cards are designed to handle >ensure devs are putting this stuff in all their games >run performance of newer titles into the ground when these options simply become the default lighting solution >rake in $$$ as the entirety of the PC market gets depreciated and consumers will be forced to buy absurd cards just to play games
For reference this is basically the exact same shit they've done with ML, every ML company is basically forced to spend ridiculous amounts of money on RTX cards because everything has been built exclusively for proprietary Nvidia stuff.
Why? The same bitter 3rd worlders will still chant their mantra that RT is a meme and that some ancient GPU running on a 720p monitor is all anyone needs.
Another daily cope thread, where people who don't have the hardware to run an optional graphic setting all group together to pat each other on the back and tell each other that they didn't like it anyway.
Ray tracing is fine, but these frickers need to stop adding it to older games and pretending they improved it.
To get best results with ray tracing, you need to build with it in mind. Just slapping it into a game will always look jarring, even if you can get a couple screenshots to impress reddit.
So which one is which again? Both look fine, but one of them doesnt cut my performance in half
In every image RTX: On is the one where the sword handle looks the same and because everything is darker for some reason and the RTX is dogshit, glowing.
Alright but seriously when are we going to stop pretending that is upscaling is good and go back to actual aa like msaa or sgsaa? I imagine the 4090 can do both of those quite well
MSAA doesn’t work for most common cases (e.g. aliasing within polygons, such as with transparent textures), and SGSSAA uses super sampling, which is expensive.
Sure raytracing looks 'better' (more like real life shadows). But its also too dark and you cant see. If you didn't already know where the door and windows were of that shack from the first screenshot you'd be hard pressed to say if the shack even had them.
I kind of like being able to see all the things i need to in video games without having to repeatedly look around in the shadows.
Raytraced reflections can be pretty cool though
Yeah but i dont want to have to have cat eye potion on for 75% of the game.
