Anon, you're aware that flashbangs aren't magical, right? If you're aware that you've just been thrown a flashbang and that it's about to go off, you can usually prepare yourself for it. 2/75th popularized SOP where you throw a shitload of bangs into a room and go in before they're even halfway done going off because it won't really frick with you. RoN is actually a bad implementation altogether.
How it used to work is that the grenade needed line of sight with the suspect's head for them to "work." I don't know if they ever fixed this. I've had more success with stingers than flash grenades.
Are you playing with the artificial intelligence bots? If so, why isn't that bot facing in the right direction? It should be strafing into the room, not going into the room blind, then having to do a 90 degree angle to the enemy. I thought the 1.0 update was supposed to have realistic AI?
You haven't used mods to fix your game yet. One to reduce enemy crack aim is absolutely necessary, to the point I think the devs expect people to change it. I'm sure someone is working on one to implement the features they pretended were in the 1.0 release and then as long as you pirated the game you're set

I just beat Port Hokan and this game is such a fricking let down, if you are having problems just roll with the heaviest armor on everyone alongside 7.62/,300 and equip them with shields. Some thoughts >non-lethal may as well not exist especially at the range some of the later maps have and how limited flashes, CS gas etc are >maps have cool premises but nothing really happens with them i.e streamer house, women cult, auction house for people, school shooting >AI is fundamentally fricked, its been 6 years and they still shoot through the walls, infinite ammo and ESP >Zero purpose for the station at all, lifeless NPCs and would have been better as a fricking menu >Retrying takes far too long and re-equipping AI is a nightmare >SWAT AI still struggle with basic movement including funneling, doors and still not moving outta the way >None of the cool shit we seen in the trailers actually happens

No, penetration has always been fricked. You are beholden to penetration rules, the AI isn't, and that's how that's always been. It doesn't help that they don't separate penetration calc for multiple materials: if you fire into drywall, it will penetrate the brick behind the drywall as if it's drywall.

The tiny tweaks that modders make to the AI make the game so much better that it's incredible. I cannot understand why the devs are so stubborn on not adjusting the enemies. If I were to make speculation, it would be that they want their game to be the hardest and most "realistic" shooter around, which would be cool if they made the enemies clever as opposed to morons that either stare at walls while screaming or sprint backwards through a door and one tap you at 50 yards

I think once the Youtubers figure out there is a replay mode, the devs are fricked. Replay mode lays bare just how shit the AI in the game is. You can watch them tracking you through walls with pixel perfect precision. You can see that their bullets don't actually come from their guns, or even the direction they are facing. Its really bad on some maps, like Mindjot. Mindjot becomes a battle of two factions of aimbots with wallhacks wallbanging each other through 3 layers of servers while the player just stands there wonder wtf is happening.

The game automatically records replays of your games. You have to go back to the main menu to view them. There's also no way to disable recording of replays. I already have 1 GB of replays in my folder.

Wait, is this true? What the frick? I've been increasing my use of bombastic tools to try to intimidate them into surrendering, the devs have been pulling one on me this whole time and made it do the opposite without telling anyone? Why did they put these things in the game then?
I kind of get what they're going for; it almost sort of sounds like Alien Isolation where if you over-use your tools, spamming them instead of strategic, the enemies actually get more aggressive because they're not as effective. If you've heard your 5th flashbang in a row you're probably pure adrenaline by then, versus the guys who initially get flashed where it's probably more effective.
That said, I feel like this only works if they get the suspect/SWAT AI down right. Random thugs shouldn't be fighting to the death en masse, I'd expect maybe one crazy guy out of the whole group, not almost everyone.

If the AI were good everyone would navigate each map fluidly while having combat barks for each action they're doing as well as where they're going. Mindjot guards should shout that they're moving to a pillar, gangbangers should shout at each other to stay put to kill as many pigs as they can, and everyone should comment on if they see a turned on weapon light.
In real life some guards shout out shit because obviously there's stuff going on, but not everyone shouts. In fact it's common to find a couple guards here and there (i'm saying guards loosely, this could mean anything from gangbangers to terrorists) who don't say anything and try to use the element of surprise. I like to think the guards in this game are just keeping a low profile as to not make their presence known.

Unfortunately he only briefly said that they were noting concerns from the ai from the community, and then spent the bulk of his post being passive aggressive about the guy saying that whoever ends up filling the new ai programmer position deserves good money.

The suspects work off a threat meter where they get more aggresive as you get more aggressive. The more suspects you kill in a level the less likely surviving suspects are to surrender. I am almost 100% positive I read the AI's accuracy increases the longer they are engaged in a firefight. Not that that matters with how poor the suspect AI is.
Okay I just played a mission with it on, and it gave me a message of "mod detected: unofficial score." Wasn't a mission that gives you anything with the A score I got, so jury's still out on unlocks other than the fact that the game now takes note of your mods
The enemy AI feels almost perfect with this setup. Still able to instantly kill you at times, but doesn't instantly recognize you the tenth of a second a frayed shirt fiber enters their view from around a corner.
I hope someone makes a mod to reduce enemy count instead. I actually like each enemy being deadly, I just wish there were fewer of them. 4-5 suspects like Gas, Beach House, forest guy, and campus have feels perfect. I hope someone can edit every map to be like that.

nah i had the same thing happen, it just wont let you give a command different to the one it wants you to give, you just have to get in the right position to give it
just the tutorial, its very cancerous. on the bright side giving that command is almost the end of the tutorial, the only thing you do after that is learn move coloured squads independently, so you can just skip tutorial and play, or try and restart it

Yeah it's infamous for being insane compared to most of the others. If you want to see likeminded experiences through google, most people referred to it as it's location, "Brisa Cove."
As for tips, it seems like people have had success by bringing a shitload of door wedges and wedging every door while clearing the more open areas, and finally going in room to room.
Fair warning, that's just what I've read, I barely played the level when it was in early access because everything was already unlocked in that build, and it was not fun.
It's possible to S rank it even with AI squaddies but I'm telling you it's very VERY difficult. I've only ever gotten a B plus with a crew of 5 mates and it was a total fricking bloodbath. I have zero clue how anyone could non lethal that whole thing.
I never find Ides of March that difficult. If you bring a few wedges it's instantly easy to tell where enemies are coming from.
You should have a ton of wedges on you anyway, it makes it far easier to keep a situation under control.

yeah new maps new guns, commander mode seems good with much improved friendly ai, even tho i mainly play with friends. theres just some schizo in these threads spamming that its bad for some psycho reason
1.0 came with its ups and downs.
SWAT AI is improved and more immersive, but they still can do some dumb shit and overextend a bit.
Suspect AI is still cracked, and now they probably maneuver a little better. A bit overtuned on aggressiveness, hard to get them to surrender. Ides of March/Brisa Cove was a b***h to clear and I lost an officer on the successful run, currently on Mindjot and it also feels a bit tough.
They removed the alternate map modes so that the commander mode is more unified (missions only have the type they're canonically supposed to have), but I hope they re-introduce it to practice/co-op at some point.
Immersion is a bit better with the SWAT being a bit more vocal. Some of the suspect chatter was kinda cool too when I was clearing the meth house.
Best parts about the update for me is the SWAT AI update, a bit more variety in voice lines and a lot of new maps. There's still a lot to fix, and there are a lot of bugs, but hopefully they will now start to get on top of those and push more frequent fixes. And hope they'll get their heads out of their ass and improve the suspect AI to not be so insanely accurate so fast and with such little notice. Still enjoying my time with the game.

So you should be able to open up replay mode and post a short clip of one of the AI shooting a civilian on the map then. Go do it. Because I just posted a clip of an AI standing in spot for the entire map length, right next to 3 civilians, and never doing a damn thing.

That's lame, the active shooter mode in earlier builds used to have them actually shoot civilians if you took too long
Active shooters still shoot civilians. I was on the completely other side of the campus when this guy decided to shoot the civilian he was standing next to for the past two minutes.
I just completed Post Office with this mod and unlocked the cosmetics. Mods don't block achievements or cosmetics.
That particular mod felt like it made the suspects too easy though. I made a few life ending mistakes and managed to not get shot once.
I used it for a mission that unfortunately doesn't give any unlocks at an A rank, but the game tells you at the score screen "Unofficial Score" because a mod is detected. So I would err on the side of caution and assume you won't get unlocks, but I can't say for sure. On the other hand, the modded enemies seem way more fair, and haven't yet done that horseshit where they run backwards through a door and one-tap me through an opaque window. Just one mission so far though, so we'll see.

Anybody else getting getting frame skips and frame drops? Even in some of the low asset areas on DX11 I experience a solid 90fps then it just drops down to 35 unexpectedly. Shouldn't be like that I don't think.
i played last night on dx 11 with a 4070 and ryzen 5800x and was getting random dips around 40 -50 fps depending on the map, tried dx12 today and it would shit the bed when the map loaded then be locked at 120. honestly hate the shader cacheing meme

No, that's the meme with SWAT 4 and RON. You have to go non-lethal completely to arrest all suspects than secure them (because you can only secure dead or incapacitated suspects) for a lower score.
You get like 30 or 35 points for a suspect arrest but only 5 for a kill. Killing all suspects will never make you fail a mission (unless there is a prime suspect at play), but you can’t get an S rating unless you arrest quite a few of them

I got fed up on Brisa Cove on run 15 or 20 and went full lethal. All 4 squad mates died, and I executed all civilians and all enemies. I got an E rating but it still unlocked the next map.
You might be right. Passing a mission involves, I think, completing all or most objectives. However, if your only two objectives are 1) bring order to chaos, and 2) rescue *all* civilians, then just failing one of those will fail the mission. Failing the first objective happens when you die though, so you aren’t wrong

the thing that bothers me the most is the fake handwriting. like holy frick just ask joe blow down the hallway to write that shit out and scan it, the fake shit looks AWFUL
the streamer swatting map is terrible. They could have done the exact same concept, but executed it 10 times better. Just remove all enemies from the start of the mission, so you can approach the streamer's apartment without any conflict, maybe putting civilians or something too. Then inside the streamer's apartment you can arrest the streamer, but you find secret doors to the neighboring apartments where the crypto farms are kept, and the actually difficult part starts. That way the first part of the level seems sensible for what it's advertised as, you keep the twist, and the action is better, as rather than just getting mowed down from all sides as you enter the building, you actually get to clear apartments, kicking down doors like a swat team would.
Yeah, that would work. Personally, I just wished they played it straight. Make it a SWATTING mission, and make it the first mission so it serves a tutorial. Narratively, you still have the link to CP and Mindjot. All the crypto nonsense just muddies the waters.
How the frick do I use the optiwand under a door? I'm looking at the bottom of the door with it equipped but there's no special popup or anything and holding LMB just looks at the front of the door.

It does. UE4 does not do well with overlapping translucent materials. So any time in the car lot when you are positioned so that you see down a row of several overlapping car windows, even a 4090 is brought to its knees. Most games write a shader to cull transparent materials after like a depth of 2 to avoid this, but Void has not made that optimization.

School Shooter on hospital was one of my favorite maps in any tactical shooter ever. It was tense as frick since you knew shots actually meant a civies life, and the map was only like 2 minutes max, so it was quite easy to just drop into at any time without needing to set aside a long time for playing.

The superhuman suspects reactions really make this game worse that it could be. I played the whole EA perior with AI tweaks and it makes the experience so much better. They also do cool shit like hiding under the beds and in closets more often. I played 8 hours of 1.0 and I never seen them doing this once.

The way I did it was start at the roof and have the AI clear out everything through the big data center because the AIs just aimbot and wallbang each other all over that area.
Then I had the AI wait and I cleared out all the front offices solo because the SWAT ai is bugged to hell in the front offices and doesn't seem to be able to path through them or respond to threTs correctly in them.

in theory in a vacuum that might be an acceptable use of ai for a smaller studio but the problem is it's very much a slippery slope, we accept this and it will just keep getting worse, first it's thumbnails then it's posters then it's loading screen art then it's all sorts of other things

it sucks they fricked up the AI from the last version, the game was fun difficult when i played like a year ago, now its a mix of too easy because my AI wallbang 1 shots the enemies, or too hard because the enemy does it to me. Im gonna not play the game for a few months and hope they fix it

It also just decreases the height of the water object to the height of the bullet hole. You used to be able to see the water texture go below the faucet part.

It took me 50 minutes to beat it on like my 10th try. I lost an officer and a civilian on this run as well. Not going to lie though, it was unforgettably intense. I cleared outside first, then worked around the two outside small buildings, then moved in on the big warehouse area last. Lots of backtracking. As soon as I came to a room or area with a bunch of suspects or blind spots, I would go to a different area. This helped me reach those tough areas from different angles/entry points. The game has a steep steep learning curve. Sink or swim, b***hes
Two things I feel like it really needs are some way to heal mid-level, and snipers/observers outside that can report if suspects are near windows or running so you don't have to play hide and seek for 20 minutes and then get shot in the back of the head.

I played SWAT 4 after finishing this game and it's amazing having suspects who actually respond in a believable manner. They don't instantly attack they have a few millisecond delay where they will raise weapons or lower it based on the logic they have. They investigated sounds, surrendered, ran away and shot hostages.
The animation where the suspects slooooooooowly lower the gun towards the ground and there is a chace they either drop it or pull it back at you and shoot is legitemately one of the most brilliant things in gaming.

There is a big divide between the map design and the AI design. You can tell which maps they built before the did the SWAT AI. Open labyrinths with multiple levels like on Mindjot and Post Office do not work with the AI room clearing. They don't know how to clear all the nooks and crannies, and are very bad at returning fire when their attackers are on another level.

school level was pretty good i thought no ROE against suspects. bombs give you a mission timer. if you dont move quickly enough, the perps will shoot civilians on the map

Now if they frick up a level real bad for me I shoot as many of them as I can and fire the ones that survive with no severance pay. This also explains incidents in multiplayer when the doors would just explode on people and when there was no other sign of what happened we assumed skill issue, when it was in fact not.
The moron AI likes to throw it under the bed or into a trashcan so it doesn't affect anyone when it goes off. IMO gas is the most viable option but it's still not good because they like to stand in the doorway while waiting for it to pop.

are you wedging the entrance to the condos? I consistently lose someone on the first breach because they over extend and I keep getting wiped clearing the condos by someone going agro and going into a room I just cleared
clear hallways, close all of the doors and section them off with wedges. then, clear two apartments at a time (the linked ones), then the center room, then the laundry room

flashes feel extremely unreliable in this game even on people without goggles, the amount of times we've flashed and cleared a room only for nobody in the room to get stunned is unreal, albeit I've been playing with people who are terrible at describing the interior of a room and where the enemy is in relation. I've been getting "Oh yeah dude he's like, super close" or "there's a civilian in there" followed by running into a room with three separate blindspots because the usual friend I'd play with who would describe every potential problem in a room in crystal clear detail isn't available.

This splinters off in later missions where they trace the porn to one of his bitcoin miners, which in turn had a connection to the cryptocurrency itself, which in of itself has been hiding a CP ring.

If you're aware that you've just been thrown a flashbang and that it's about to go off, you can usually prepare yourself for it. 2/75th popularized SOP where you throw a shitload of bangs into a room and go in before they're even halfway done going off because it won't really frick with you. RoN is actually a bad implementation altogether.

How it used to work is that the grenade needed line of sight with the suspect's head for them to "work." I don't know if they ever fixed this. I've had more success with stingers than flash grenades.

You haven't used mods to fix your game yet. One to reduce enemy crack aim is absolutely necessary, to the point I think the devs expect people to change it. No, penetration has always been fricked. You are beholden to penetration rules, the AI isn't, and that's how that's always been. It doesn't help that they don't separate penetration calc for multiple materials: if you fire into drywall, it will penetrate the brick behind the drywall as if it's drywall.

The tiny tweaks that modders make to the AI make the game so much better that it's incredible. I cannot understand why the devs are so stubborn on not adjusting the enemies. If I were to make speculation, it would be that they want their game to be the hardest and most "realistic" shooter around, which would be cool if they made the enemies clever as opposed to morons that either stare at walls while screaming or sprint backwards through a door and one tap you at 50 yards

The game automatically records replays of your games. You have to go back to the main menu to view them. There's also no way to disable recording of replays. I already have 1 GB of replays in my folder.

Wait, is this true? What the frick? I've been increasing my use of bombastic tools to try to intimidate them into surrendering, the devs have been pulling one on me this whole time and made it do the opposite without telling anyone? Why did they put these things in the game then?
I kind of get what they're going for; it almost sort of sounds like Alien Isolation where if you over-use your tools, spamming them instead of strategic, the enemies actually get more aggressive because they're not as effective. If you've heard your 5th flashbang in a row you're probably pure adrenaline by then, versus the guys who initially get flashed where it's probably more effective.
That said, I feel like this only works if they get the suspect/SWAT AI down right. Random thugs shouldn't be fighting to the death en masse, I'd expect maybe one crazy guy out of the whole group, not almost everyone.
Watch more world star. Suspects should be unpredictable. Many more running away with guns, if anything, firing wildly.

If the AI were good everyone would navigate each map fluidly while having combat barks for each action they're doing as well as where they're going. Mindjot guards should shout that they're moving to a pillar, gangbangers should shout at each other to stay put to kill as many pigs as they can, and everyone should comment on if they see a turned on weapon light.
In real life some guards shout out shit because obviously there's stuff going on, but not everyone shouts. In fact it's common to find a couple guards here and there (i'm saying guards loosely, this could mean anything from gangbangers to terrorists) who don't say anything and try to use the element of surprise. I like to think the guards in this game are just keeping a low profile as to not make their presence known.

I got an achievement while running mods. I can't confirm if you get cosmetics because it doesn't save your modified score to check.
The suspects work off a threat meter where they get more aggresive as you get more aggressive. The more suspects you kill in a level the less likely surviving suspects are to surrender. I am almost 100% positive I read the AI's accuracy increases the longer they are engaged in a firefight. Not that that matters with how poor the suspect AI is.
Okay I just played a mission with it on, and it gave me a message of "mod detected: unofficial score." Wasn't a mission that gives you anything with the A score I got, so jury's still out on unlocks other than the fact that the game now takes note of your mods
Any way to make this so it doesn't count as a mod like other mods do?
The enemy AI feels almost perfect with this setup. Still able to instantly kill you at times, but doesn't instantly recognize you the tenth of a second a frayed shirt fiber enters their view from around a corner.
I hope someone makes a mod to reduce enemy count instead. I actually like each enemy being deadly, I just wish there were fewer of them. 4-5 suspects like Gas, Beach House, forest guy, and campus have feels perfect. I hope someone can edit every map to be like that.

There are cosmetic unlockables specific to commander mode, but you can unlock everything else in the other modes.

Or if you want use the p90. You only need a few mags. Use single shot mode to stun on the first hit then pop their head when they bend over.

If this is your first time with the game, Ides of March is commonly known as one of the most bullshit hard levels, so it's wacky that they put it so early.
You can go through and unlock them all in "practice mode," it just seems that it's like a separate save than commander

Yeah it's infamous for being insane compared to most of the others. If you want to see likeminded experiences through google, most people referred to it as it's location, "Brisa Cove."
As for tips, it seems like people have had success by bringing a shitload of door wedges and wedging every door while clearing the more open areas, and finally going in room to room.
Fair warning, that's just what I've read, I barely played the level when it was in early access because everything was already unlocked in that build, and it was not fun.
Build a squad that makes the enemy more likely to give up. I had all of my squad as that and I just ran in spamming F.

All the enemies in Ides are highly trained military veterans. The difficulty makes sense, they're better trained than you.
It's possible to S rank it even with AI squaddies but I'm telling you it's very VERY difficult. I've only ever gotten a B plus with a crew of 5 mates and it was a total fricking bloodbath. I have zero clue how anyone could non lethal that whole thing.
I never find Ides of March that difficult. If you bring a few wedges it's instantly easy to tell where enemies are coming from.
You should have a ton of wedges on you anyway, it makes it far easier to keep a situation under control.

You can also alt+f4 if you fricked up and get no penalties (except if you die). I usually alt+f4 when one of my dumbasses die early in the mission

1.0 came with its ups and downs.
SWAT AI is improved and more immersive, but they still can do some dumb shit and overextend a bit.
Suspect AI is still cracked, and now they probably maneuver a little better. A bit overtuned on aggressiveness, hard to get them to surrender. Ides of March/Brisa Cove was a b***h to clear and I lost an officer on the successful run, currently on Mindjot and it also feels a bit tough.
They removed the alternate map modes so that the commander mode is more unified (missions only have the type they're canonically supposed to have), but I hope they re-introduce it to practice/co-op at some point.
Immersion is a bit better with the SWAT being a bit more vocal. Some of the suspect chatter was kinda cool too when I was clearing the meth house.
Best parts about the update for me is the SWAT AI update, a bit more variety in voice lines and a lot of new maps. There's still a lot to fix, and there are a lot of bugs, but hopefully they will now start to get on top of those and push more frequent fixes. And hope they'll get their heads out of their ass and improve the suspect AI to not be so insanely accurate so fast and with such little notice. Still enjoying my time with the game.

So you should be able to open up replay mode and post a short clip of one of the AI shooting a civilian on the map then. Go do it. Because I just posted a clip of an AI standing in spot for the entire map length, right next to 3 civilians, and never doing a damn thing.

I just completed Post Office with this mod and unlocked the cosmetics. Mods don't block achievements or cosmetics.
That particular mod felt like it made the suspects too easy though. I made a few life ending mistakes and managed to not get shot once.
I used it for a mission that unfortunately doesn't give any unlocks at an A rank, but the game tells you at the score screen "Unofficial Score" because a mod is detected. So I would err on the side of caution and assume you won't get unlocks, but I can't say for sure. On the other hand, the modded enemies seem way more fair, and haven't yet done that horseshit where they run backwards through a door and one-tap me through an opaque window. Just one mission so far though, so we'll see.

Anybody else getting getting frame skips and frame drops? Even in some of the low asset areas on DX11 I experience a solid 90fps then it just drops down to 35 unexpectedly. Shouldn't be like that I don't think.

i played last night on dx 11 with a 4070 and ryzen 5800x and was getting random dips around 40 -50 fps depending on the map, tried dx12 today and it would shit the bed when the map loaded then be locked at 120. honestly hate the shader cacheing meme

No, that's the meme with SWAT 4 and RON. You have to go non-lethal completely to arrest all suspects than secure them (because you can only secure dead or incapacitated suspects) for a lower score.

You get like 30 or 35 points for a suspect arrest but only 5 for a kill. Killing all suspects will never make you fail a mission (unless there is a prime suspect at play), but you can’t get an S rating unless you arrest quite a few of them

I got fed up on Brisa Cove on run 15 or 20 and went full lethal. All 4 squad mates died, and I executed all civilians and all enemies. I got an E rating but it still unlocked the next map.
You might be right. Passing a mission involves, I think, completing all or most objectives. However, if your only two objectives are 1) bring order to chaos, and 2) rescue *all* civilians, then just failing one of those will fail the mission. Failing the first objective happens when you die though, so you aren’t wrong

the streamer swatting map is terrible. They could have done the exact same concept, but executed it 10 times better. Just remove all enemies from the start of the mission, so you can approach the streamer's apartment without any conflict, maybe putting civilians or something too. Then inside the streamer's apartment you can arrest the streamer, but you find secret doors to the neighboring apartments where the crypto farms are kept, and the actually difficult part starts. That way the first part of the level seems sensible for what it's advertised as, you keep the twist, and the action is better, as rather than just getting mowed down from all sides as you enter the building, you actually get to clear apartments, kicking down doors like a swat team would.
Yeah, that would work. Personally, I just wished they played it straight. Make it a SWATTING mission, and make it the first mission so it serves a tutorial. Narratively, you still have the link to CP and Mindjot. All the crypto nonsense just muddies the waters.

It does. UE4 does not do well with overlapping translucent materials. So any time in the car lot when you are positioned so that you see down a row of several overlapping car windows, even a 4090 is brought to its knees. Most games write a shader to cull transparent materials after like a depth of 2 to avoid this, but Void has not made that optimization.

Enemies are known to false surrender all the time and the moment the code triggers for a false surrender the bots know what is about to happen before the animation even begins to play.
The AI are able to instantly scan an enemies intention down the frame. They never incur use of force penalties.

School Shooter on hospital was one of my favorite maps in any tactical shooter ever. It was tense as frick since you knew shots actually meant a civies life, and the map was only like 2 minutes max, so it was quite easy to just drop into at any time without needing to set aside a long time for playing.

The superhuman suspects reactions really make this game worse that it could be. I played the whole EA perior with AI tweaks and it makes the experience so much better. They also do cool shit like hiding under the beds and in closets more often. I played 8 hours of 1.0 and I never seen them doing this once.

The way I did it was start at the roof and have the AI clear out everything through the big data center because the AIs just aimbot and wallbang each other all over that area.
Then I had the AI wait and I cleared out all the front offices solo because the SWAT ai is bugged to hell in the front offices and doesn't seem to be able to path through them or respond to threTs correctly in them.

It took me 50 minutes to beat it on like my 10th try. I lost an officer and a civilian on this run as well. Not going to lie though, it was unforgettably intense. I cleared outside first, then worked around the two outside small buildings, then moved in on the big warehouse area last. Lots of backtracking. As soon as I came to a room or area with a bunch of suspects or blind spots, I would go to a different area. This helped me reach those tough areas from different angles/entry points. The game has a steep steep learning curve. Sink or swim, b***hes

Two things I feel like it really needs are some way to heal mid-level, and snipers/observers outside that can report if suspects are near windows or running so you don't have to play hide and seek for 20 minutes and then get shot in the back of the head.

There is planning but it's not explained well. When you select a mission, open your tablet and select the map view for the mission. There you can draw icons and tactics, and they persist into the mission

I was so disappointed when I loaded up the Streamer map and instantly found myself in a shootout with an NBA team. And also that they took away all the active shooter maps. I feel like multiple gamemodes could have made everyone happy.

I played SWAT 4 after finishing this game and it's amazing having suspects who actually respond in a believable manner. They don't instantly attack they have a few millisecond delay where they will raise weapons or lower it based on the logic they have. They investigated sounds, surrendered, ran away and shot hostages.
swat 4 is super fun, and people still play it in coop. Usually there are multiple full lobbies

The animation where the suspects slooooooooowly lower the gun towards the ground and there is a chace they either drop it or pull it back at you and shoot is legitemately one of the most brilliant things in gaming.

There is a big divide between the map design and the AI design. You can tell which maps they built before the did the SWAT AI. Open labyrinths with multiple levels like on Mindjot and Post Office do not work with the AI room clearing. They don't know how to clear all the nooks and crannies, and are very bad at returning fire when their attackers are on another level.

Suppessors increase the length of your weapon which causes you to compress it sooner if an enemy rushes you or you walk through a doorway the wrong way.

This also explains incidents in multiplayer when the doors would just explode on people and when there was no other sign of what happened we assumed skill issue, when it was in fact not.

are you wedging the entrance to the condos? I consistently lose someone on the first breach because they over extend and I keep getting wiped clearing the condos by someone going agro and going into a room I just cleared
nah i didnt use any wedges. i did have a couple guys sneak up on me at one point but my teammates clapped them, i was prob just very lucky
clear hallways, close all of the doors and section them off with wedges. then, clear two apartments at a time (the linked ones), then the center room, then the laundry room

flashes feel extremely unreliable in this game even on people without goggles, the amount of times we've flashed and cleared a room only for nobody in the room to get stunned is unreal, albeit I've been playing with people who are terrible at describing the interior of a room and where the enemy is in relation. I've been getting "Oh yeah dude he's like, super close" or "there's a civilian in there" followed by running into a room with three separate blindspots because the usual friend I'd play with who would describe every potential problem in a room in crystal clear detail isn't available.

If you're playing singleplayer and Bring Order to Chaos is already crossed out, you can issue a Search and Secure command and the AI will magically walk to all of the objectives and secure them.
