Stopped playing Arma 3 years ago and never looked back.
The most recent CoDs DMZ mode is very close to the perfect sweet spot of fun and tacticool, it's just a tick too fast paced. Only issue with that is the missions lack a meaningful progression system. You're basically doing them to get into situation where you shoot guys, get shot, your mates have to pick you up, you pick up your mate, fight your way to the exfil and do it all over again - nothing beyond that. Which is cool for a couple games but gets boring very fast.
Tacticool games give you satisfaction upon completion, more unrealistic shooters give satisfaction whilst playing. I play both so I can safely say that both offer different ways of having fun. Some people want to run in sliding while firing purple tracers and others want a slow and methodical approach.That being said Arma III sucks
The REAL problem is that we're not REAL ENOUGH. It's always just "here's this fricking building better go open some doors" or "here's an open field that's basically just a gigantic linear lane better run through it and build spawn points while vehicles rape you." I think the closest we have right now is probably ARMA and it's frickjank that's basically dead outside of closed communities. I need PLANETARY scale OPEN WORLD with PLAYER DRIVEN factions. Fricking defending your russet potato farms from the Chinkoid VPN super corporation factions. Getting jumped in the middle of the night while you take a virtual shit and get your AI elf wife kidnapped and SEXED while your AI children get their virtual heads STOMPED in and then some dude from Iowa in a full flight sim setup JDAMs the entire fricking thing while he hits a bong underneath his VR headset. It's not REAL ENOUGH FOR ME and that's what pisses me off.
FRICK you I would log into play that every day of my FRICKING life. I would farm my little fricking virtual carrots and shoot up bands of Brazilian raiders trying to steal my fricking firewood to sell on the realtime market and then get fricking NUKED by some butthole that's been minmaxing oil production. It would be INCREDIBLE and you are all homosexualS with no vision.

At long distance. Close up in the city maps you got guys stacking every corner and unloading on anything that crosses a street. You still have to contend with guys that have 30 round magazines. It's like if you played RO2 and everyone had an MKB42 and if you remember that game you would also remember how problematic that gun was.
People who use “fun” as the exclusive metric for video game quality are chimpanzees. Artistic mediums can convey more emotions than just fun. Grueling, painful game experiences can be spectacular (Pathologic)
Games need to be completely fantasy bound and not analogous to real life in any way or else I'm not having fun. You're hurting me by enjoying things that I don't like.
This game used to be fricking insane. Now I just play Hell Let Loose. I really want to find another shooter with the speed and intensity of old siege though.

The company fricked with the movement speed and the british update was an absolute pile of shit too many problems to list.
They reverted alot of the changes and the game is playing much better right now but it still stands that they were fricking with the formula too much and I don't see that game having a good future.

A more realistic combat is much more intense, after playing Tarkov any other shooter feels boring
RS2 was quite fun when you knew how to play it correctly, and it wasn't mind numbingly boring like Squad for example.
I liked red orchestra 1 and 2 better. I feel like the RO gameplay suffers from having 2 teams and everybody is using a full auto assault rifle.

M16 on the other hand has just 18 bullets. 3 bursts in full auto and you're out of ammo. While AK isn't very controllable in full auto.
