Realistically is Metroid Dread even capable of selling over 100,000 units? Its a very short game with few extras in a niche genre.

it already fricking did
source?
Its still saturday
So then there's no source.
IT's sold out fricking everywhere you dumb Black person.
I'm not hearing a source.
Imagine thinking Ganker is one person.
imagine being some fricking moron who claims dread won't sell over 100k
game's very likely to break a million with minimal effort and be the best selling metroid game ever
baited for this EXACT response
So what, people just pretend to be moronic to smirk to themselves while they watch people call them moronic online? Do "people" like that have a humiliation fetish or are they such losers that this is what they do on a saturday night instead of doing literally anything else.
Bruh it's going to sell like 5 million lmao
The idea of a Metroid game breaking that ceiling gets me hard and Dread is actually going to do it.
Have you seen how much they're pushing it?
I'd bet my left nut that it'll outsell Samus Returns' lifetime sales on launch week, probably already
Sold 5 times that in just preorders
But is it fun with a wide audience?
Is somebody going to stream it so the zoomers see how cool the franchise is?
Everything on the switch over sells, so yes.
What are the odds that Nintendo forms a more long term partnership with Mercurysteam if Dread sells well?
I mean they clearly have no interest in making metroid games themselves and would rather outsource them all now a days, so it's possible.
It's up to Sakamoto I guess and Sakamoto loves them. Could be the next Retro where Nintendo gives them an F-Zero or a Kid Icarus or something.
>a Kid Icarus
>implying Sakurai wouldn't murder anyone who tried to take it from him
I don't think Sakurai would that protective of KI considering it's not even his. He seemed fine with dropping Kirbo like a bad habit.
I'm just spitballing franchises they could take over, I didn't mean to touch a nerve.
>F-Zero
Anon.. No sense trying to get your hopes up, it's over. Good thing we already have 2 great games.
castlevania 64 2
depends on if mercurysteam wants to keep making metroid games forever
I mean they could return Kid Icarus to its Metroidvania roots if Sakurai doesn't want to make an Uprising sequel.
Ninty will buy them and absorb them in the next 5 years
all the normies will get filtered super hard because this game is actually the hardest Metriod game.
It's fairly tough for a metroid game since you can't facetank your way through bosses, but there really isn't anything that you can't get through after slamming your head against the wall a few times.
Yeah, raven beak is pretty tough, but he doesn't actually have that many attacks and even a game journalist could probably get it figured out eventually
>marketed to hell
>on the Switch
>reviewing well
>actually good
it'll do multiple millions easily
it's probably well over 1 million sales already
Arms sold like 2 million and that's Arms, a brand new IP
For the ammount of threads on Ganker I can honestly say it's gonna sell fairly good, it's an honor as a Spaniard to see us back up in terms of gaming industry while at the same time being alive to see another metroid from the original saga, almost 20 years ffks.
Im a part of a group of 5 guys. We all play vidya sometimes. Rarely do any of us buy the same games. Even more rare for 4 or all of us to buy the same game. The last time all of us bought the same game was Monster Hunter World. 4 of us bought Dread yesterday. The fifth guy doesn't own a Switch. I personally think Metroid is far more popular than people think.
It'll easily be the best-selling game in the series. Over five million by the end of the year.
>Dread is the end of the Metroid story arc
>Prime 4 is the definitive end of the Phazon arc.
Whats next?
Samus retires from bounty hunting.
Franchise is now VR dating sims with Samus.
Nothing. That was it.
Sakamoto said he's got ideas for Metroid 6, let's see where it goes
On the world? Easily. On japan? Maybe.
I bet it'll sell like 50k first week, and then slowly get 100k over a month
