>Really love this type of gameplay
>Many games have tried to copy it and do their own things with it like with what Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope did
>Nothing feels as good as XCOM though
I don't understand

>he liked xcom
Yes, is there a problem with XCOM?
Isn't it wonderful?
>He dosen't like xcom
What are you, gay?
>he doesnt like XCOM
I like everything but the base building. I'm too lazy, I'd rather just fight with my troops.
The base building and having it mobile was the only part I did like in xcom2. The duality of man.
The gears of War one was pretty good tbh. Cyber knights is also pretty fun but it lacks the overall army management and fights that get out of hand. I think the destructible terrain aspects is part of why everything else feels half baked
Every tried out Phoenix Point?
>Phoenix Point
QRD
It's a game by the creator of the original UFO. Does a few things better than xcom but most things are similar or worse. If you love xcom you will like it, but it's not amazing.
was a kickstarter saying they would be more like original xcom. ended up being nucom
So it's good
its pretty bland
Nobody wants original xcom. Overwatch creep is horrendous gameplay.
i tried it on release but the enemies were tanky to a bullshit degree
on paper, i liked the idea that weapon research doesn't offer flat damage upgrades, but i never got to a point where i could easily dispatch even early enemies
>Cyber knights
>That character design
Gross
Try Hard West. Very similar gameplay, but it's in the Wild West with demons and such things
>Be Firaxis
>decide to make midnight suns instead of XCOM 3
>lose a bunch of money
>Firaxis states they are solely focusing on Civ VII for the indefinite future.
>Key lead developers in XCOM franchise leave Firaxis including director Jake Solomon and Garth Deangelis
Terror from the Deep style sequel that was teased happening never 🙁
it's unironically fricking over
>Capeshit kills another studio
its genuinely baffling to me that well over a decade now this capeshit still isnt fricking over
it was clear with alien rulers dlc and especially wotc that the xcom team wanted to make a capeshit game
>alien rulers dlc
What does this have to do with Midnight Suns?
I just told you what it had to do with the superhero game, it was inevitable since those two dlcs
>Nothing feels as good as XCOM though
This, I've tried a few games and it does not hit the spot.
I hate the camera being 4 positions. After playing gears tactics I yearned for more but xcom feels so clunky. This genre is so untapped
easily fixed by mods
This game is the definition of artificial difficulty.
>That delayed dodge
Every iteration of XCOM or its clones have to tweak mechanics and introduce some gimmick or else they'll just be a glorified XCOM mod. If you can't get into other games then it means whichever XCOM you liked was the perfect fit for you, so just play that and change it up with mods.
the people capable of making a good imitation are smart enough to avoid getting into dubious lawsuit territory
Keep an eye on Mars Tactics, looks like a cool Xcom like game.
Play long war.
I like it but want to play it on my mobile for free
Which xCom is the best ?
UFO Defence
Stop seething grandpa
enemy within
soon.
I wil now buy and shill your game
how the frick have we not had a good fantasy setting xcom yet
Its a niche genre and won't sell much
