Mods are just half baked, I really have no clue why someone saying they prefer not to use mods gets you so wound up. Every time I've modded new vegas I just didn't see the point. It wasn't adding anything for me. Often it took away from stability.

This has to be bait. Most moronic opinion I've ever read on this board.
This is low key why Fallout 3 haters have always been dumb to me. Is the story ass? yeah but the game itself is fricking fun and it was fun as frick when it dropped in what, 2006? Literally 80% of New Vegas is reused from3, you could not have NV without 3. Also 3 does several things better than NV, like the Subways.
If you mean a game should be fun at launch - no shit - everyone agrees.
If you are saying only a bad game would compel autists to spend their time and effort making a decade old game even better by incorporating modern QOL innovations and applying the game's vision to modern hardware capacities - you havent played video games.
If you think no one who enjoys something would further enjoy customizing it to further align with the user preferences, you have never had a hobby.
Or are you claiming good vs bad is a binary? Where if something is good it cannot be improved? that would make you a moron.
So are you an edge lord, pleb, degenerate, or a moron?

What? Deus Ex Spread is a mod that removes weapon spread so bullets go where they're pointed. Automatic weapons in vanilla are comparatively useless without it.
>Vanilla FNV's random accuracy penalties are mitigated so that bullets actually hit where weapons are pointed; however, weapon wobble is enhanced by movement, limb condition, and (optionally) character skill, so that your weapon is not necessarily pointed toward your cursor. The intent is to put weapon accuracy solely in control of the player while encouraging the player to take tactics and environment into account when engaged in combat.

It's kinda strange to see people praise a mod that takes away the rpg on vprg of all places
Also weapon sway is a moronic mechanic that has nothing to do with shooting irl
11 months ago
Anonymous
>and (optionally) character skill
what's the problem? i enable the option to disable using guns without the strength req in lstewie tweaks too
11 months ago
Anonymous
>what's the problem?
I just see the original way the game handles bullet spread to be more true to both real world and RPG mechanics
a) weapon sway mechanic as described in by mod's author has 0 basis in IRL shooting
b) makes it more about players skill then PC skill IMO
11 months ago
Anonymous
Yeah someone who is bad at shooting doesn't suddenly have parkinsons when they hold a gun, wtf is this mod
11 months ago
Anonymous
exactly my point
it just brings in bad FPS mechanics into an RPG >what is sight alignment >what is not jerking the trigger >what is not anticipating/overcompensating the recoil >what is knowing how to adjust after misses >what is knowing how to adjust for wind
realistically a simple randomized spread does a better job at simulating a multitude of factors in shooting skill
rather than a >bullet fly where your crosshair is, being skilled is actually just knowing that you don't have to wobble the gun

What's a mod that's the opposite of this? More RPG in the FPS, as opposed to vice versa. I play a lot of boomer shooters, New Vegas isn't the game I think of when I want fast paced shooting, that's why I didn't like the VATS change in 4 at all.

>What's a mod that's the opposite of this? More RPG in the FPS, as opposed to vice versa Project Reality mod for Battlefield 2
it's far from what boomer shooters are doing though
You can simulate those with other mods. The wobble is optional, i play without it, actually reas the mod page. game feels much better with the mod, thing good because it's more rpg is moronic mindset.
>with other mods
or... you could just use the base game's system w/o mods which is already pretty OK at simulating the issues of someone new to shooting not being able to hit what he is intending to hit >thing good because it's more rpg is moronic mindset.
first of all, my brother in Jeshua, are you sure you are on the right board?
as I said it also bugs me as being unrealistic on top of that it brings nothing to the table as FNV isn't going to be a good skill-based shooter (i.e. relying on players skill and reflexes)
so it reduces the rpg element for no good reason at all, it's just moronic
11 months ago
Anonymous
>it's far from what boomer shooters are doing though
shit I just understood that you've meant actual rpgs mechanics being introduced into otherwise non-RPG FPS, not just the shooting mechanic
idunno, but Project warlock is close to what you've seem to crave
it's kinda meh thou

Base system is trash ans nobody actually like vanilla new vegas combat. I don''t care wbout simulating someone not being able to hit in first person game by randomizing where bullets fly that's just bad design, if they wanted that type of stuff then they should have made isometric style combat, VATs is kinda like that.
NV is an rpg in other ways. It's bot unrealistic, yoj haven't played the mod and vanilla has the wobble as well. FNV with mods I like is one of the most satisfying shooting experiences, so that's good enough for me.

The challenge is my writing style is very formal/romantic/lovecraftian, where as the people in New Vegas are usually uneducated, probably not able to write well.
Here's an excerpt from a book called "The Last Ride" which tells the story of how the Great Khans lost their motorcycles.
>Then came the day of the Last Ride.
>Our bikes was dying. Some were little more than rusted hulks, their chrome blasted from the sand, their engines silent like a corpse. We had a choice to make: we could watch em bleed out, bit by bit, or we could give them one last moment of glory.
>We chose honor and glory.
>We rode that day like the world was endin all over again. Our bikes roared one last time, the thunder of their engines echoing like a raven's song.
>When the last drop of gasoline was burned, when the final engine coughed and died, we set them ablaze. The fires lit up the night, a funeral pyre for a way of life that was no more.
I hate people who think NV was on the same level as FO 1 or 2. It was good, but its not the same, and FO 3 apologists always crawl out of the woodwork when you mention NV.
New Vegas Killer. The quest giver's dialogue and delivery is god-tier, especially if you've played the first new vegas bounties and get all the references like Mr. Sugar obviously being Anton Chigurh.
If you want a less silly quest mod, both the ones by someguy2000 and th3overseer are quite good.
The goal is to create a mod that seamlessly integrates books written after the great bombs fell, in the same vein as a Skyrim or other TES games. I like to write stuff, this is low stakes practice for me, more interesting than fan fiction, world building is enjoyable. It's interesting to think about what types of festivals NoVac might have, or what sorts of Propaganda might be found in the NCRCF. There aren't many book menu mods, this seems like the most logical use-case for it.
It isn't a replacer for the pre-war books, instead each book is handplaced, with books being limited in number, some being rare, etc. I like collecting shit
I never understood the hype even though I beat the game twice and once with all DLCs. It's more developed than FO3 and certainly has more content, but it's still dull. I guess I just can't stomach Gamebryo.
Are there any RPGs that play like FONV? I guess I could play FO3, but I kind of want to explore a different universe. First person, set in modern day / future. I keep on thinking cyberpunk 2077 but that game just plays so clumsily that it's just not fun for me. I may just play oblivion to get more of that fix but I really like combat in the 3D fallout games.
Shooting things is all I remember from SoC. Starts out with a shootout in bandit infested group of houses. Shooting bandits around trains. Defending an outpost from a wave of enemies. A shootout at a factory site. Then a cool moment in a sewer with a bloodsucker, that immediately turns into a shootout with a group of soldiers. Then an encounter with a controller. Then when I finally got to leave the sewers I was outside a base of soldiers, whom I massacred. Then I moved on and was attacked by a pack of wild dogs. Then I arrived at a settlement. Exhausted, I quit the game and never played it again.
Call of Pripyat pacing was much better. From that game I remember exploring the empty ruins of a building, constantly on my toes, completely immersed.
A game needs quiet times between action. It's why I dislike the city areas in FO3 and 4. It's hard to take in the atmosphere and scenery when you're constantly harassed by enemies. Simply removing most enemies from DC would greatly improve the early parts of FO3. Let the player focus their attention on the ruined city.

This is low key why I wish someone would make a game that combines the time and scale of Desert Bus with a game like New Vegas.
Hear me out, imagine how comfy it would be to trek through an ingame desert that's absolutely massive? Vast? Imagine how much more intense each encounter becomes when you might walk for an hour, with barely a hint of anything only to be attacked by a group of raiders from the cliffs.
Would also add elements of Oregon Trail, with disease and hunger and such.

One of the biggest problems in games now is the massive open worlds that are devoid of content, how can you possibly ask for this? those new zelda games are too much walking with nothing going on for me.
Anonymous
Devoid of content depends on your perspective. Assuming it's set in the fallout universe, you could include star navigation mechanics. Hunger, Thirst, sleep.
>walk for an hour in a desert in a video game
My friend, we have better things to do with our lives.
Okay but now imagine you're also listening to old radio shows that are period friendly (think Outer Limits, Gunsmoke, etc).

I used to make pokemon romhacks back in the day, stopped doing any type of fan content for Nintendo products because they literally will sue your ass if you make something better than what they make (Crystal Clear, Prism, suing Dolphin now).
Meanwhile I can literally post my mods in the Bethesda official discord, look, I haven't even PLAYED Fallout 4 but I can't deny how based that is, and now rare it is in a game industry that feels increasingly hostile to consumers and fans alike.
Just download the two wastelands mod and all it requires. besides that, tasteful aesthetic mods like armor, bandoliers, etc that isn't from modern age and fits with the setting. i'm playing point lookout on my SteamDeck and forgot how much of a slog it is.

Same as above, this one has a frickton of options to suit everyone's need. DO NOT USE A PRECONFIGURED INI. Let it generate a new one, and go through EVERY option to fit it to your needs. If you don't feel like it, frick you
JSawyer Ultimate

The "author" is a bristish drama queen freeloading on Josh Sawyer's and other modders' "fame" for those sweet nexus Donation Points, but at least this gameplay overhaul is a step up on the original which was just a barebones meme
Alternatively, Vicious Wastes

By another c**t who fricking "obfuscates" his script sources. Not that it matters much because xNVSE has advanced to the point it can decompile script source code, just make sure to endorse and unendorse periodically to spit on him

Dunno if the guy doing the I LE rework will do II. They're mainstream, therefore bad, except II is actually good. As in, it fills the fricking void of this game's world with stuff to do

Made by a tumblerina too special for nexus, ok voice acting makes it ok by default
That's like 8 but I'm near the limit and don't care enough for more. This post is 100% shill coal cringe sneed THOUGH
I made my own "Select Stat sets for your Ulyses Coat" - I wanted crit bonuses on my NCR emblem coat.
I didn't need other mods at all.
New Vegas is a mod for Fallout 3.
Deus ex spread

Why not?
DNS should just work anyway, if not use vpn
I got caught being racist online
>vpn
illegal
wtf are you talking about, are you kid cucked by parents or what. just try DNS
No i live in a country where I cant do this
which country? Russia? are you fricking with me?
This is the most Brittish post I have ever seen.
Also forgot to mention this essential mod.

I hate new vegas memes
someone actually made this
i fricking hate this humor
i wish nobody liked new vegas and it was just me
jesus, why do you people always sound like the poutiest fricking losers ever?
who tf actually lets shit like this bother them?
Is this the power of Communism?
>Deus ex spread
patrician
Game is unplayable without it to me anymore, the game is also made harder and more exciting because npcs are also far more accurate.
wtf is this? you're telling me the bullets are moving in slow motion by default? ive never played this
doesn't this basically make the guns skill pointless?
wait people actually LIKE the deus ex/vtmb shit?
>vtmb
What? Deus Ex Spread is a mod that removes weapon spread so bullets go where they're pointed. Automatic weapons in vanilla are comparatively useless without it.
it looks like it adds spread
>Vanilla FNV's random accuracy penalties are mitigated so that bullets actually hit where weapons are pointed; however, weapon wobble is enhanced by movement, limb condition, and (optionally) character skill, so that your weapon is not necessarily pointed toward your cursor. The intent is to put weapon accuracy solely in control of the player while encouraging the player to take tactics and environment into account when engaged in combat.
That is amazing. I wish I could have a nexus account to download this
It's kinda strange to see people praise a mod that takes away the rpg on vprg of all places
Also weapon sway is a moronic mechanic that has nothing to do with shooting irl
>and (optionally) character skill
what's the problem? i enable the option to disable using guns without the strength req in lstewie tweaks too
>what's the problem?
I just see the original way the game handles bullet spread to be more true to both real world and RPG mechanics
a) weapon sway mechanic as described in by mod's author has 0 basis in IRL shooting
b) makes it more about players skill then PC skill IMO
Yeah someone who is bad at shooting doesn't suddenly have parkinsons when they hold a gun, wtf is this mod
exactly my point
it just brings in bad FPS mechanics into an RPG
>what is sight alignment
>what is not jerking the trigger
>what is not anticipating/overcompensating the recoil
>what is knowing how to adjust after misses
>what is knowing how to adjust for wind
realistically a simple randomized spread does a better job at simulating a multitude of factors in shooting skill
rather than a
>bullet fly where your crosshair is, being skilled is actually just knowing that you don't have to wobble the gun
What's a mod that's the opposite of this? More RPG in the FPS, as opposed to vice versa. I play a lot of boomer shooters, New Vegas isn't the game I think of when I want fast paced shooting, that's why I didn't like the VATS change in 4 at all.
is there a mod to just give new vegas turn based combat
Yes: Uninstall.exe
>What's a mod that's the opposite of this? More RPG in the FPS, as opposed to vice versa
Project Reality mod for Battlefield 2
it's far from what boomer shooters are doing though
>with other mods
or... you could just use the base game's system w/o mods which is already pretty OK at simulating the issues of someone new to shooting not being able to hit what he is intending to hit
>thing good because it's more rpg is moronic mindset.
first of all, my brother in Jeshua, are you sure you are on the right board?
as I said it also bugs me as being unrealistic on top of that it brings nothing to the table as FNV isn't going to be a good skill-based shooter (i.e. relying on players skill and reflexes)
so it reduces the rpg element for no good reason at all, it's just moronic
>it's far from what boomer shooters are doing though
shit I just understood that you've meant actual rpgs mechanics being introduced into otherwise non-RPG FPS, not just the shooting mechanic
idunno, but Project warlock is close to what you've seem to crave
it's kinda meh thou
Base system is trash ans nobody actually like vanilla new vegas combat. I don''t care wbout simulating someone not being able to hit in first person game by randomizing where bullets fly that's just bad design, if they wanted that type of stuff then they should have made isometric style combat, VATs is kinda like that.
NV is an rpg in other ways. It's bot unrealistic, yoj haven't played the mod and vanilla has the wobble as well. FNV with mods I like is one of the most satisfying shooting experiences, so that's good enough for me.
>just bad design
another one of bad design is what i don't like?
many such cases
ok anon whatever makes you happy
>vanilla has the wobble as well.
yeah a cosmetic one, not in the same sense that that mod introduces it
>another one of bad design is what i don't like?
>many such cases
>ok anon whatever makes you happy
My man, you just learning what an opinion is or are you slow poindexter?
You can simulate those with other mods. The wobble is optional, i play without it, actually reas the mod page. game feels much better with the mod, thing good because it's more rpg is moronic mindset.
> Automatic weapons in vanilla are comparatively useless without it.
They aren't, you don't know what you're talking about.
weapon spread is all over the fricking place even with 100 guns. its one of the reasons people say the gunplay is shit
RobCo Certified is the part of my modlist 100% of time
Slowly been writing books that exist in game, but for now I rec these, dope

The library mod is low key ass because it's just a bunch of clippings and I have no idea why I'd want that.
1. killable children
2. animated prostitution
3. ????
4. simple as

I like mods that make the place feel more lived in, rebuilt. More "post-"post apocalyptic. Made this one yesterday.

Which game is more fun to actually player, Fallout 3 or New Vegas
What do you think of this mod idea?
The goal is to create a mod that seamlessly integrates books written after the great bombs fell, in the same vein as a Skyrim or other TES games. I like to write stuff, this is low stakes practice for me, more interesting than fan fiction, world building is enjoyable. It's interesting to think about what types of festivals NoVac might have, or what sorts of Propaganda might be found in the NCRCF. There aren't many book menu mods, this seems like the most logical use-case for it.

new mod just made it
where are the screenshots?
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/81653/
Figured I'd do the Powder Gangers since their armors are dog ass too
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/81656
Frick it did the great khans too
would be cool with a unique texture
I'm using an unused book texture
It isn't a replacer for the pre-war books, instead each book is handplaced, with books being limited in number, some being rare, etc. I like collecting shit
I never understood the hype even though I beat the game twice and once with all DLCs. It's more developed than FO3 and certainly has more content, but it's still dull. I guess I just can't stomach Gamebryo.
Just do some light lore friendly graphical upgrade and Josh Sawyer mod.
Enjoy,
I like mods that make the world feel more lived in, more alive, more like actual people and not static quest givers live in the world.
Aint no Shenmue, and you can tell.

Outer Worlds. But it is written considerably worse, companions especially.
I can't recommend stalker: call of pripyat enough, if you enjoy atmospheric exploration.
why COP over SOC BOP? TOP?
I FRICKING hate stalker. Its
Quiet exploration. SoC had action setpieces one after another.
Prove it you fricker. That game is breasts
Devoid of content depends on your perspective. Assuming it's set in the fallout universe, you could include star navigation mechanics. Hunger, Thirst, sleep.
Okay but now imagine you're also listening to old radio shows that are period friendly (think Outer Limits, Gunsmoke, etc).
Well it might not be my cup of tea, but it's an interesting idea. Maybe fitting for an indie game.
Yeah I don't think it would be everyone's thing but it might be cool.
>walk for an hour in a desert in a video game
My friend, we have better things to do with our lives.

Just revamped this mod entirely. Check it out. I really should play 4 at some point.
IT'S NEW VEGAS MOD WEEKEND
DIET COKE, THE GECK AND A PACK OF BACKWOODS WE ARE MAKING MODS
I used to make pokemon romhacks back in the day, stopped doing any type of fan content for Nintendo products because they literally will sue your ass if you make something better than what they make (Crystal Clear, Prism, suing Dolphin now).
Meanwhile I can literally post my mods in the Bethesda official discord, look, I haven't even PLAYED Fallout 4 but I can't deny how based that is, and now rare it is in a game industry that feels increasingly hostile to consumers and fans alike.

BETHESDA HIRE THIS MAN
how the hell do you stop modded NV from crashing constantly
Just download the two wastelands mod and all it requires. besides that, tasteful aesthetic mods like armor, bandoliers, etc that isn't from modern age and fits with the setting. i'm playing point lookout on my SteamDeck and forgot how much of a slog it is.
why is it so hard to make mods using the geck? I just want to do simple shit
