This new Switch version will probably be the way to go for emulating it on PC now though. Ryujinx and Yuzu are more mature than Xenia and more performant than RPCS3.
Are they insane? Red Dead 2 did great on PC, Xbox bit the dust but it's still a significant market and the original was big on Xbox, then there's the Switch... my phone is more powerful than a Switch and no one in Japan will play this other than biggest westaboos.

They built the entirety of San Andreas from scratch in the span of two years, with a team less than a quarter the size of modern day Rockstar. Remastering the 3D era games would be childsplay to them if they actually tried.
As for remaking Redemption in 2's engine, it's as simple as making the models and peds for Mexico, recording new voice lines for the 'talk to NPC' mechanic in Mexico, rewriting mission scripts, and exporting the mocap data to the new models. The bulk of the game development goes into actually writing the code and the story, scripts are easy in comparison. Guaranteed they could knock it out in a year
They don't know how to make games anymore, they've apparently spent the best part of 10 years and over a billion dollars making GTA6 and it's just going to end up being the exact same empty open world shit as 5 with a slightly different map.
They could have made more from just straight porting the 3D games to modern consoles without the broken "remakes" that turned people off with how immensely buggy they were.

It's 30 fps confirmed. It's literally a straight port of the 360/ps3 version with no remaster enhancements. Probably why it's also not on PC because they're doing some kind of emulation to play back on modern consoles like they do with ps2 games on ps4 which run in an emulator.
If they can port the source code and convert it to run on an x86 console when it was originally designed to run on a powerpc cpu in the 360/ps3 then it can definitely run on PC. They're likely running some sort of conversion layer to make that happen. They could still do that for a PC version.

In a rare move, RDR1 was much more arcade-y and casual than it's successor. RDR2 values realism and immersion far more, which isn't to everyone's liking. Usually it's the sequels that become faster and more casual but it wasn't the case here.
2 for me feel so tedious to play compared to 1. 1 was my goty in 2010 but I didnt even like RDR at all. I'd rather have just watched the story on youtube to avoid the tedium of playing it.
I didn't really enjoy RDR2 until I went hunting for all of chapter 2. My 100% run was pretty good, but the main mission structure was so rigid and formulaic that deviation from dev's parameters would result in failure.

No it doesn't. I've been playing it. Some games have issues with deadzones and feel like they have input lag like some older cod games via back compat but most games are fine and rdr is one of them.
Because they're moronic and probably confusing the weird aim acceleration for input lag. The camera moves really slow for like 50% input but then accelerates fast above that. You get used to it quickly though.
2 doesn't have input lag, it has weight. The instant you move the stick Arthur starts moving, it just takes a half second for him to take a full step forwards. Look at his actual body and you can see him start to move the same frame you move the stick. They prioritised animation over instantaneous action, because they didn't want a situation where the character's feet leave the ground the instant you touch the jump button.
I doubt I'd even play it on PC at this point. I loved RDR2 but 1 never grabbed me when I played it on Xbox and I never played it past the first few missions.

They built the entirety of San Andreas from scratch in the span of two years, with a team less than a quarter the size of modern day Rockstar. Remastering the 3D era games would be childsplay to them if they actually tried.
As for remaking Redemption in 2's engine, it's as simple as making the models and peds for Mexico, recording new voice lines for the 'talk to NPC' mechanic in Mexico, rewriting mission scripts, and exporting the mocap data to the new models. The bulk of the game development goes into actually writing the code and the story, scripts are easy in comparison. Guaranteed they could knock it out in a year

The switch is much stronger than a 360 or PS3 and enhancements for PS4 seem scant, it will probably be a fine base.
You have brain worms if you think a PS3/360 game needs to be downgraded for Switch. It'll run at 720p, but that's not an issue for emulation. There will almost certainly be mods for 60fps and such too, since the engine is capable of it just fine.

In a rare move, RDR1 was much more arcade-y and casual than it's successor. RDR2 values realism and immersion far more, which isn't to everyone's liking. Usually it's the sequels that become faster and more casual but it wasn't the case here.
2 for me feel so tedious to play compared to 1. 1 was my goty in 2010 but I didnt even like RDR at all. I'd rather have just watched the story on youtube to avoid the tedium of playing it.

Redemption 1 was a video game, 2 is not. I stopped playing 2 within an hour and I was very mad because I loved 1.
I didn't really enjoy RDR2 until I went hunting for all of chapter 2. My 100% run was pretty good, but the main mission structure was so rigid and formulaic that deviation from dev's parameters would result in failure.
Basically the game is only good if you really like being a completionist.

Redemption 2 gets a lot wackier than 1 is. 1's story is less serious overall, but 2 has you doing stuff like chasing magic midgets and watching rich prudes start an all-out barroom brawl at the sight of bare arse cheeks.
2 is bogged down by a plethora of minor issues that add up to be a major annoyance imo, 1 was just solid all around. it also feels like 2 put less emphasis on actual outlaw cowboy shit like being challenged to duels and hunting bounties etc

No it doesn't. I've been playing it. Some games have issues with deadzones and feel like they have input lag like some older cod games via back compat but most games are fine and rdr is one of them.

Because they're moronic and probably confusing the weird aim acceleration for input lag. The camera moves really slow for like 50% input but then accelerates fast above that. You get used to it quickly though.

2 doesn't have input lag, it has weight. The instant you move the stick Arthur starts moving, it just takes a half second for him to take a full step forwards. Look at his actual body and you can see him start to move the same frame you move the stick. They prioritised animation over instantaneous action, because they didn't want a situation where the character's feet leave the ground the instant you touch the jump button.
