>Red does nothing on his journey other than the gym badges and fight team Rocket a few times
>doesn't even properly dismantle Team Rocket since later games has him coming back
>future games treat Red as if he's the strongest most legendary trainer ever

>Team Rocket is just described as a mafia with no visible goals other than stealing Pokemon
>all they do is bother a scientist, break into a cemetery, and break into a research building
>future games treat Giovanni as some world dominating mastermind who can even use other villainous leaders for his plans and travel to other worlds

Is this a side effect of genwun KANTOOOO homosexualry or is it a side effect of them trying to retcon the Kanto games to be on as grand a scale as the future games? When you have characters like May/Brendan stopping climate altering events and beating/capturing legendaries in story it makes the RBY stories look like small potatoes

It holds more weight because it feels more grounded. When you start throwing in pokegods and comic book villains it's so ridiculous that it doesn't even register as real.

I'm always looking for realism when I'm playing as a child going on a country wide journey battling monsters

Rocket discovered the first pokemon and created the strongest (in story at least). Red left their team in ruin (without using the main legend, and caught it after)

That story only holds true if you look at it in a vacuum. No way is Mewtwo stronger than any other legendary in the game. Other protags also dismantle enemy teams without having needed to catch the legendary

Mew is basically the Omnitrix from Ben10, all pokemon comes form his DNA, it's like he is the first one Arceus made, he unlimited untapped cosmic powers.

Mewtwo turned out as a powerful creature thanks to human science tapping into Mew's potential cosmic powers. It makes sense that Mewtwo is so powerful because of his origin.
He is not some sort of god or reality warping deity, but can hold his own in terms of raw psychic power.

This might have been true if gen 1 took any care in presenting an actual story. Everything just sort of happens with little to no narrative thread building a story.

More of a Johto creation than anything else where they made him the final boss. I don't think it was always like this, but when HGSS came around and was generally seen as an "end of an era" for Pokemon so to speak, that I think Red started glorified pretty hard. After that came the PWT where he had the best stats, and the Origins special where it started getting pushed harder.

      Sometimes simplicity is best

It really is no wonder they opted to give a "Legend" ribbon for beating Red honestly

        >Battle Legend
        >gets beaten by Ethan/Lyra who did the same thing he did and more
        >gets beaten by Nate/Rosa who beat every gym leader that Red and Ethan did plus the Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova leaders
        >gets beaten by Elio/Selene who is also Kantonian

He was also in LGPE as a final boss, you got a special title for beating him 2nd time around.
Battle Master or something like that I think, I don't recall off the top of my head since its been awhile.

Looks like that theory that game freak hated Johto and only used it prop up KANTOOOOOO was true.

More on this. I think it's also a problem of the games after just not being compelling. Like

Looks like that theory that game freak hated Johto and only used it prop up KANTOOOOOO was true.

implied, if it were logical, then Gold would've been seen as the greatest of all time. After that, Game Freak just kept pumping out RG clones over and over again. Is it really a surprising when no one cares about the Hoenn's protagonists feats when their threat gets dwarfed by the Creation Trio, which then also gets dwarfed by the Aura trio?
People look at every game after RG shamelessly copying the original formula instead of meaningfully changing that, and realize the originals are where all the magic is. Why wouldn't they worship it if it's all the creators care about?

Red is the strongest trainer in Gen I & II by a huge margin. Even after you've seen everything Kanto and Johto have to offer nobody comes close to him. He's the returning player character, he represents you, everyone thinks he's cool and wants him to be strong.
Even now, his appearance in HGSS is still the strongest trainer in the series by the objective metric of Level, only recently matched by BDSP Cynthia's Garchomp on her 3rd+ rematch.

I didn't play Gen 7 and that Rainbow Rocket shit sounds absolutely moronic, I don't even want to know. It doesn't matter, Red was the best of the best before the KANTOOO pandering ever started. Powerscaling against teams of jobbers doesn't matter, he's just a battle autist to the core.

It all stems from gen 2 being supposed to be the final Pokemon games, where (YOU) is the strongest secret final boss. Afterwards they needed to justify bringing him back (because everything is always brought back) and they needed to keep that "strongest" atmosphere around him.

now that you said it I really enjoy and love Kanto story being more "street level" and I wish they kept it this way

You know, Daredevil is a much more interesting hero than Superman. And Red being a strong trainer on the feats of the pokemon battling sports itself, not some lunatic crazy space pokémon opera
