I don't know about Diablo, but selling near SF6 is actually probably a GOOD thing for XVI.
XVI's problem isn't going to be other games, it's going to be PS5 exclusivity. Having other big ticket games like SF6 on the PS5 will help convince people it's worth purchasing, and increase the install base. Buying a new console with a big RPG and a Fighting game on the side is a bundle a lot of people would go for.

I don't like fighter games as well, but SF6 doesn't have as much appeal to me. I'd be more likely to pick up Tekken 8 first.

I was watching some analysis videos and something that was pointed out that it didn't occur to me before is that this battle with Garuda is happening in a floating piece of land. So after battling her mid-transformation form shown here we can assume she raises a platform into the sky before/after fully transforming, making it so Clive has no escape, which explains why he was desperate enough to lose control after being grabbed by her and transforming into Ifrit. I’m looking forward to the environment transitions with each phase during these battles. Apparently the Eikons can influence the environment so that’s why the area is getting all stormy looking like the The Howling Eye from FF14. That’s just cool aesthetically.
I don't think the scene where she's grabbing him and the scene where ifrit is fighting garuda are the same scene. The platform is really small. Too small for ifrit and garuda to be fighting on.
It’s probably a clever trailer transition. Like the whole “cum to me ifrit” cut to a scene with Bahamut to make you think it was related.
Two possibilities. One, Clive transforming into Ifrit causes that change, maybe some of the floating pieces of land merged into the larger one thanks to his fire. Two, after he transforms he takes them back into the ground, but we still see the whirlwind around them so who knows for sure, it may be just Garuda's power creating a barrier to prevent his escape, not necessarily mean that they're still in the air.

every fight seems to take place in a separate arena kinda like FFXIV for whatever reason
the only genuine worry I have for the combat is it's gonna be all flash and no substance, DMC works because of movement and having multiple options on one input. Over here it seems not only are your options kind of limited unless there's more going on we're not seeing but knowing how square likes to be stupid we'll have one mashed out regular attack combo and a bunch of cool but slow and stationary anime attacks. Also stagger is a famously shit mechanic and I can't believe it's back

At least like lets say in FF7, materia plays a huge role throughout the game or the sphere system in 10. Gear also had a bit more variety and you had a party to choose from. You also dont have a skill tree or different skills to choose from like in WoW

It is an argument. The term "RPG" already lost its meaning 35 years ago when JRPGs took WRPGs' game systems but removed the character creation, roleplay and choice elements, replacing them with a linear narrative and predefined characters.
The influence of both branches of the genre on eachother and then the wider industry has diluted the term even further, so basically anything that has character levels and stats or an equipment screen can now be called an "RPG", and the "role-playing" is almost nowhere to be seen anyway.

Another thing that occurred to me is that we only saw Dion in human form in two scenes in Sanbreque's throne room, one of which seems to be him going to talk to the emperor about something which leads to picrel, so it got me thinking that it may be because of Rosaria's invasion, which means that the Dion we've seen so far is how he looked like when Clive was still a teenager, before the first time skip. If this is true, I wonder how he'll look like after both time skips, because the "Come to me Ifrit" that people theorized shows Clive post-second time skip has him fighting Bahamut, which means Dion survives that long.

The same video that pointed out the Garuda thing also mentioned how in past FFs there were dragoon characters who went through a change of heart, so there's a chance that after he loses it in that scene in the throne room he turns his back on the empire because it's doing things he doesn't agree with.

Ah, but Eikons don't die with their Dominants. Clive could be fighting someone besides Dion who's gained the Bahamut Eikon.
Dominants don't sprout out of nowhere all of a sudden, but to be fair we don't know the specifics of how each Dominant is chosen. Someone could also have stolen Bahamut's power or something, maybe it's the final boss and he can transform in all the Eikons whose Dominants are already dead.
iirc the lore about dominants is they are just born or something like that. It's not clear if there is always a dominant or if there can be a period where there isn't one. Like before Joshua became the Phoenix dominant. Was there a Phoenix dominant that JUST died as he was born or was the last Phoenix dominant 100 years ago. And if the Dion we see is young Dion, then 13 years have passed when we see Clive fighting Bahamut. Time enough for Dion to tragically die between the beginning of the game and before the second time skip.

This was actually clarified in the famitsu interview after the Ambition trailer:
