To expand, the first major quest in the game is based around a group of refugees hiding in a druid conclave that wants them out, and a band of goblins wanting to exterminate all of them.
You've got the option to help the refugees by rescuing a sympathetic druid and killing the goblins
helping the druids turf out the refugees
helping the goblins by slaughtering everyone
ignoring the whole thing and finding another way to get to the place that the refugee/goblin dilemma is blocking off
The game doesn't railroad you into being nice but sarcastic, nor does it make the evil option neutered to put people off choosing it.

IThis game isn't a 5e simulator and instead of focusing on the PC's background and personality, Larian crafted their own premades for you to play, and otherwise you're just a blank slate filler character. So everything about your character is pure mechanics, and there's no real backstory or goals or bonds or anything that really sets you apart from other PCs. It's really unfortunate. This hurts every player, but it hurts warlocks the most since in tabletop they can come up with their own patron, their own relationship with them, their own pact, their own markings or rituals, etc. Here, it's just a different wizard.

You can be upgraded from vampire spawn to full vampire, it’s one of the lies that a vampire will use to make his spawn. But there’s no benefit to him to do so, so once you’re a spawn you’re usually stuck that way.
Being a real D&D vampire is probably awesome, so long as you don’t end up in the ravenloft planes. You are immortal, can cast tons of legendary magic at will, and can basically get away with it forever so long as you don’t frick with heroes.

He's talking about the fact that killing the Druids is portrayed by the game as righteous action even if they are the ones who have their home occupied by the refugees, and that them wanting them to leave for their own safety is evil. If you kill all of the Druids Halsin even agrees with your action and says you were right to kill them since they were "betraying" the refugees despite the fact that the refugees being there was what led to the Druids being in danger in the first place.
One of the biggest failings of the games first big choice for me is the fact you have to side with the refugees or side with Minthara and the Goblings, there's really no way to side against both the refugees and the goblins, and side with the Druids instead. The Druids are treated as incidental rather than primary. The good news is Zevlor is actually a Devil worshipper and is going to sacrifice all of the Tieflings souls to empower himself with the power of Hell, so at least they'll get what's coming to them one way or the other.
It just doesn't make sense in a game that's built around "reactivity" I can't side with the Druids and kill all the refugees, then kill the Goblins. Since Kagha is actually working with the Shadow Druids maybe you can actually side with her and them in the full release, and it was just not an option in the EA. As it is the most you can do is let Kagha know you're aware she's a Shadow Druid and that you approve, but you can't actually then drive the refugees out by force for her, and attacking the Tieflings triggers the Druids to attack you.
Except if you let that battle play out the Tieflings win every time. About the only option outside of siding with the refugees or Goblins seems to be just killing everyone, there is no real side with the Druids quest or option.

It isn't? The vanilla good option is to help the tieflings, help the druids and kill the goblins and Minthara. The "righteous" option is obviously the one where as few innocent parties as possible are harmed. Kagha is working with the shadow druids so morally and objectively evil and with her removed everything solves itself. In the first place her excuse that tieflings would strain the resources of the grove makes little sense since they can cast these lmaogoodberries and wouldn't run out of food.
Except other members of the Grove also say they don't have enough food and supplies to last if the refugees don't leave, including the first shopkeeper you talk to on entering the Grove. And don't start trying to come up with justifications based on spells in D&D, nothing makes sense in those worlds if people were to intelligently use the spells they have in a logical and practical fashion.
And yeah you can just side with the refugees and spare the Druids as a result, and even redeem Kagha if you feel like it, but the point is the game doesn't give you the option to side with the Druids and Druids alone, you either have to side with the refugees, or the Goblins, you can't kill the refugees AND the Goblins and have the Druids as a faction the ones left standing who you resolve your main quest with. It's an oversight and one that should be corrected by the time the game comes out, there's no reason I shouldn't be able to pick the Druids as a faction over the refugees or the Goblins/Minthara. Ideally you could side with Kagha and the Shadow Druids as a third option since Halsin is firmly on the refugees side and values them more than his own circle.
This is what propagandists do all the time, though. They'll attach a stance to an evil character and have them act like an butthole, and this makes people go, "Ah, I see, so the stance is evil." Kagha is evil because she's secretly working for an evil faction. She's also a massive b***h and she's trying to steal her boss's job.
She is ALSO kicking out the refugees.
This sends you the message that kicking out the refugees is evil. When it isn't. They have no right being there. It's the druids' grove, they gave them shelter for a time and now they're draining their resources and committing crimes. The druids wouldn't be evil, in my opinion, for just turning the refugees away. The game wants me to believe they're evil for kicking them out NOW? I'm not a mouthbreather so I don't fall for this shit.
And the leader of the tieflings says, "We're not fighters," even though it's obvious from his title that he himself is a fighter.
Also, when I played, the very second you get into a fight with Kagha, the tieflings wipe out THE ENTIRE grove. The "not fighters" commit full-on druid genocide during a screen transition. And it wasn't all of the druids who wanted to kick the refugees out, either, they all had their own opinions. And I don't remember my good-aligned party members having a problem with this, the refugees think you're their saviors. The game might've changed since I played, though.
No, it's all still the same, there really is no way to side with the Druids and I played through it again just 5 weeks ago. The options of progressing through that dilemma are either siding with the refugees and Halsin, siding with the Goblins and Minthara, or killing everyone and finding another solution such as the Gith camp (not in EA though).
I played like a week ago and you can absolutely just have the druids complete the ritual and they will dumpster the tieflings. Talk to Kagha and do whatever with the little thief, she'll ask you to get rid of the Tieflings however possible. Go to Zevlor, when he pleads with you tell him 'I'm not asking', this starts a fight and you can kill him. Go back to kagha and tell her you took care of Zevlor, she'll say 'oh then a few more tieflings should be no problem'. Kill a few more tieflings, not sure which ones matter but I killed 2 or 3 with 30+ hp. Then Long Rest. When you come back the Grove will be closed and all the tieflings that were still there will be dead.

In real life, I am strongly against refugees from Africa and the Middle East. The situation in the game is kind of diffend. They know that if they leave, they will be slaughtered by goblins. No one should be forced to help others. If someone's in a position of weakness, odds are they deserve to be there. This is not always true, and in this example, it is also not true, but normalized humanitarianism is a failing life strategy. If you care about the future, then the most selfless thing you can do is make sure the best people live, which means they can't be shackled down or threatened by bottom feeders. What the druids should've done was told the tieflings they'll help them fight through the goblins, but they have to come, too. Everyone benefits by wiping out the goblins, but there's no reason for the druids to die for them.

Last time i played every female human from Character creation was 5/10 at TOP. Half elfs was pretty, but human females was plain at best. Maybe they added new presets sinse, but it is what it was.

BG1 is low level D&D so all your guys suck and have shit equipment. BG2 is where your casters start learning the real good shit, getting some crazy good gear and fighting the more interesting critters. The game is also smaller in scope, has way less wilderness areas with each zone being a more focused questing area.
It's like BG1 except with more fun high level spells and magic loot, actual party banter and stuff, doesn't have the slowness of the early parts of BG1, and has a much wider variety of locations.

I've been out of the loop for years and checked into the development of BG3 today to see if any modders out there are tackling a RTWP option like other games. I can't believe the absolute seething hatred people spit out for anyone that even mentions the concept.

Why do people hate this system so much? I grew up on it and it was always amazing. As someone who sucked at Starcraft as a kid, RTWP would let me play BG, Icewind Dale, and other games while controling 6 wizards and laying waste to everything. That was awesome. It's so satisfying to drop a web, 2 fireballs, a grease, and a cloud all at once then follow up with a flurry of even more death. Or time stopping with a robe of vecna + alacricity and blowing 25 magic missiles into something.

If you get it now you'll automatically be upgraded to the deluxe edition near the time of release. It will enable you to play through act 1 completely, three days before the official release of August 3rd. Around that time, all of your progress from then on will be transferable.

All you need to give him is. A Selunite amulet that is found at the goblin camp in the treasure room behind Dror Ragzlin's throne. And the Staff of Crones which is found in the basement of the old hags shack at the swamp. Both of these artifacts have the least amount of worth to you. You just have to give him two artifacts and that's it.
I think he is. Gale is a wizard from Waterdeep who much like your character is infected with a tadpole. But he holds another secret from within and won't reveal it unless you ensure his trust in you. He holds a Netherese orb inside of his chest that is at risk of exploding unless he "feeds" it magical artifacts. The explosion could level a city. He got that within him after getting his hands on a magical tome with which he tried to win the favor back of an old lover, the goddess Mystra. He has a bit of charm to him although for some he may come off as somewhat condescending. But out of the current party he seems to want to good, but with his past mistakes he is at risk of falling back into bad decisions. Unless you are there to lead him on the right path.

He's the best character in the game. There's a lot of "I wanna frick the beefy chad" memes but the reason he really became popular is because he's the only major character in the game you meet that is actually fun to talk to and interact with. He's legitimately a good guy and he tries his best to help you, and he actually seems like a well adjusted person who is trying to make the world a better place through his efforts. It's especially refreshing when you've dealt with the pretentious, smarmy c**ts that are the origin companions all the way up to this point, too. Halsin was so popular in the EA he got upgraded to a full companion and will be available on full release. Good times.

His name is Halsin, he is the leader of the Druid Grove. He was captured by the Goblins after trying to investigate the nature of the Tadpoles that have been infecting multiple people. After freeing him from their clutches he wishes to join you on figuring out the source of the problem. He thinks the answers may lie at Moonrise Towers. Many people were interested in him not only for his looks but his attitude as well. Being a genuinely good aligned individual that wishes to help those in need. Due to his popularity it seems like Larian has made him a full fledged companion, which I am glad about.
Which one is going to be the most broken class? Since this is a Larian game there is always going to be a couple broken ones while most of the rest sucks balls.
It's a party of 4 game. Even if say, your character was 50% more powerful than average, it's still a party power of 4.5 compared to 4. Party comp and how the companions synergize with your character is probably just as important as making the bestest most overpowered build ever.

BG3 and other games like Wotr and Kingmaker aren't exceptions, things work differently in video games than they do in tabletop games

Are there even alignments in this game? Or can you just decide what to be on the fly? Do the "evil" companions leave it your a dogooder and do the "good" companions leave it you're an edgelord? How does it work? Do they have different reputation thresholds for leaving just like how the first two games used alignment as a basis for that?
There isn't an alignment system per se. Not like how it was in the original games to be specific. Although the actions you take will result in different reactions from your companions. Some like Astarion won't be so favorable of any altruistic actions, at least not without any benefit. While others are more interested in journeying with someone who is more charitable in their acts.
WotC removed alignments from D&D so Larian had to remove them from the game. There's an approval rating system and if you fall too far on it your companions will not leave, instead they will try to murder and/or betray you in some way. For example Gale makes a deal with a Cambion (Raphael) to sell your soul to him if he hates you enough and attacks you at one point. Astarion tries to turn you into a Vampire Spawn, Lae'zel outright just tries to kill you, and Wyll/Shadowhearts betrayal type hasn't been shown yet in either the game or datamining, although Wyll will simply attack you if you side with the Goblins.
There are no alignments in D&D now, that's why this game doesn't have them. Spells like Protection From Evil are now Protection From Evil & Good and specifically protect from Celestials, Elementals, Undead, Fey, and Demons, basically anything supernatural. Regular humanoids do not have alignments.
False, everything still has alignments in 5e. It just has greatly diminished mechanical effect on gameplay. There are, however, still certain situations where alignment does in fact matter. Descent into Avernus adventure module comes to mind.

All the Origin companions in the EA are insufferable pretentious c**ts who you want to kill the more you talk to. Halsin and Minthara are fun characters, but on mutually exclusive paths. The other five aren't in EA and there are only limited previews and datamining on them, so we don't know if they'll be better than the dumpsterfire that the EA origin companions are.

Up in the air right now, Larian claimed your custom character will be relevant this time, but a lot of the story beats center around the Origin companions. Shadowheart in particular is ridiculously important, the macguffin she's carrying around is a key part of the story. You can just kill her and it bonds to you instead, though. We'll have to see full release to really judge whether or not Larian followed through on their promise or if Origin companions are once again woven into the story far better than any custom character is.

You've got the option to help the refugees by rescuing a sympathetic druid and killing the goblins

helping the goblins by slaughtering everyone
ignoring the whole thing and finding another way to get to the place that the refugee/goblin dilemma is blocking off

IThis game isn't a 5e simulator and instead of focusing on the PC's background and personality, Larian crafted their own premades for you to play, and otherwise you're just a blank slate filler character. So everything about your character is pure mechanics, and there's no real backstory or goals or bonds or anything that really sets you apart from other PCs. It's really unfortunate. This hurts every player, but it hurts warlocks the most since in tabletop they can come up with their own patron, their own relationship with them, their own pact, their own markings or rituals, etc. Here, it's just a different wizard.

For example you can have sex with Shadowheart, Wyll or someone else and if you've flirted with Gale previously he'll still come up to you the night after and be like "I know you fricked someone else, but let me just say i'm better and you should frick me instead". kek

The druids.
He's talking about the fact that killing the Druids is portrayed by the game as righteous action even if they are the ones who have their home occupied by the refugees, and that them wanting them to leave for their own safety is evil. If you kill all of the Druids Halsin even agrees with your action and says you were right to kill them since they were "betraying" the refugees despite the fact that the refugees being there was what led to the Druids being in danger in the first place.
One of the biggest failings of the games first big choice for me is the fact you have to side with the refugees or side with Minthara and the Goblings, there's really no way to side against both the refugees and the goblins, and side with the Druids instead. The Druids are treated as incidental rather than primary. The good news is Zevlor is actually a Devil worshipper and is going to sacrifice all of the Tieflings souls to empower himself with the power of Hell, so at least they'll get what's coming to them one way or the other.

It just doesn't make sense in a game that's built around "reactivity" I can't side with the Druids and kill all the refugees, then kill the Goblins. Since Kagha is actually working with the Shadow Druids maybe you can actually side with her and them in the full release, and it was just not an option in the EA. As it is the most you can do is let Kagha know you're aware she's a Shadow Druid and that you approve, but you can't actually then drive the refugees out by force for her, and attacking the Tieflings triggers the Druids to attack you.
If you steal the druid's idol they will kill the tieflings. You can flee the battle then go kill the goblin leaders.
Except if you let that battle play out the Tieflings win every time. About the only option outside of siding with the refugees or Goblins seems to be just killing everyone, there is no real side with the Druids quest or option.

It isn't? The vanilla good option is to help the tieflings, help the druids and kill the goblins and Minthara. The "righteous" option is obviously the one where as few innocent parties as possible are harmed. Kagha is working with the shadow druids so morally and objectively evil and with her removed everything solves itself. In the first place her excuse that tieflings would strain the resources of the grove makes little sense since they can cast these lmaogoodberries and wouldn't run out of food.
Except other members of the Grove also say they don't have enough food and supplies to last if the refugees don't leave, including the first shopkeeper you talk to on entering the Grove. And don't start trying to come up with justifications based on spells in D&D, nothing makes sense in those worlds if people were to intelligently use the spells they have in a logical and practical fashion.
And yeah you can just side with the refugees and spare the Druids as a result, and even redeem Kagha if you feel like it, but the point is the game doesn't give you the option to side with the Druids and Druids alone, you either have to side with the refugees, or the Goblins, you can't kill the refugees AND the Goblins and have the Druids as a faction the ones left standing who you resolve your main quest with. It's an oversight and one that should be corrected by the time the game comes out, there's no reason I shouldn't be able to pick the Druids as a faction over the refugees or the Goblins/Minthara. Ideally you could side with Kagha and the Shadow Druids as a third option since Halsin is firmly on the refugees side and values them more than his own circle.
This is what propagandists do all the time, though. They'll attach a stance to an evil character and have them act like an butthole, and this makes people go, "Ah, I see, so the stance is evil." Kagha is evil because she's secretly working for an evil faction. She's also a massive b***h and she's trying to steal her boss's job.
She is ALSO kicking out the refugees.
This sends you the message that kicking out the refugees is evil. When it isn't. They have no right being there. It's the druids' grove, they gave them shelter for a time and now they're draining their resources and committing crimes. The druids wouldn't be evil, in my opinion, for just turning the refugees away. The game wants me to believe they're evil for kicking them out NOW? I'm not a mouthbreather so I don't fall for this shit.
And the leader of the tieflings says, "We're not fighters," even though it's obvious from his title that he himself is a fighter.
Also, when I played, the very second you get into a fight with Kagha, the tieflings wipe out THE ENTIRE grove. The "not fighters" commit full-on druid genocide during a screen transition. And it wasn't all of the druids who wanted to kick the refugees out, either, they all had their own opinions. And I don't remember my good-aligned party members having a problem with this, the refugees think you're their saviors. The game might've changed since I played, though.
No, it's all still the same, there really is no way to side with the Druids and I played through it again just 5 weeks ago. The options of progressing through that dilemma are either siding with the refugees and Halsin, siding with the Goblins and Minthara, or killing everyone and finding another solution such as the Gith camp (not in EA though).
I played like a week ago and you can absolutely just have the druids complete the ritual and they will dumpster the tieflings. Talk to Kagha and do whatever with the little thief, she'll ask you to get rid of the Tieflings however possible. Go to Zevlor, when he pleads with you tell him 'I'm not asking', this starts a fight and you can kill him. Go back to kagha and tell her you took care of Zevlor, she'll say 'oh then a few more tieflings should be no problem'. Kill a few more tieflings, not sure which ones matter but I killed 2 or 3 with 30+ hp. Then Long Rest. When you come back the Grove will be closed and all the tieflings that were still there will be dead.

In real life, I am strongly against refugees from Africa and the Middle East. The situation in the game is kind of diffend. They know that if they leave, they will be slaughtered by goblins. If they were ooga booga lets kill the druids and destroy what the druids own i say kill them all.. I would have zero problem if the west started killing all the migrants but one needs to see naunces and not bee fanatic.

No one should be forced to help others. If someone's in a position of weakness, odds are they deserve to be there. This is not always true, and in this example, it is also not true, but normalized humanitarianism is a failing life strategy. If you care about the future, then the most selfless thing you can do is make sure the best people live, which means they can't be shackled down or threatened by bottom feeders. What the druids should've done was told the tieflings they'll help them fight through the goblins, but they have to come, too. Everyone benefits by wiping out the goblins, but there's no reason for the druids to die for them.

Last time i played every female human from Character creation was 5/10 at TOP. Half elfs was pretty, but human females was plain at best. Maybe they added new presets sinse, but it is what it was.

BG2 is where your casters start learning the real good shit, getting some crazy good gear and fighting the more interesting critters. The game is also smaller in scope, has way less wilderness areas with each zone being a more focused questing area.
It's like BG1 except with more fun high level spells and magic loot, actual party banter and stuff, doesn't have the slowness of the early parts of BG1, and has a much wider variety of locations.
The player gets overpowered so the bad systems aren't as annoying. I love hard games, but BG1 Is just tedious. Play it on story mode, frick it.

I've been out of the loop for years and checked into the development of BG3 today to see if any modders out there are tackling a RTWP option like other games. I can't believe the absolute seething hatred people spit out for anyone that even mentions the concept.

Why do people hate this system so much? I grew up on it and it was always amazing. As someone who sucked at Starcraft as a kid, RTWP would let me play BG, Icewind Dale, and other games while controling 6 wizards and laying waste to everything. That was awesome. It's so satisfying to drop a web, 2 fireballs, a grease, and a cloud all at once then follow up with a flurry of even more death. Or time stopping with a robe of vecna + alacricity and blowing 25 magic missiles into something.
I genuinely don't understand it. Turn based to me is neat for D&D accuracy and I love it too even if I don't prefer it and will happily play BG3 once released, so why do turn based fans seem to almost get offended at the very existence of the RTWP system?

I think he is. Gale is a wizard from Waterdeep who much like your character is infected with a tadpole. But he holds another secret from within and won't reveal it unless you ensure his trust in you. He holds a Netherese orb inside of his chest that is at risk of exploding unless he "feeds" it magical artifacts. The explosion could level a city. He got that within him after getting his hands on a magical tome with which he tried to win the favor back of an old lover, the goddess Mystra. He has a bit of charm to him although for some he may come off as somewhat condescending. But out of the current party he seems to want to good, but with his past mistakes he is at risk of falling back into bad decisions. Unless you are there to lead him on the right path.

It's a party of 4 game. Even if say, your character was 50% more powerful than average, it's still a party power of 4.5 compared to 4. Party comp and how the companions synergize with your character is probably just as important as making the bestest most overpowered build ever.

How does it work? Do they have different reputation thresholds for leaving just like how the first two games used alignment as a basis for that?
There isn't an alignment system per se. Not like how it was in the original games to be specific. Although the actions you take will result in different reactions from your companions. Some like Astarion won't be so favorable of any altruistic actions, at least not without any benefit. While others are more interested in journeying with someone who is more charitable in their acts.
WotC removed alignments from D&D so Larian had to remove them from the game. There's an approval rating system and if you fall too far on it your companions will not leave, instead they will try to murder and/or betray you in some way. For example Gale makes a deal with a Cambion (Raphael) to sell your soul to him if he hates you enough and attacks you at one point. Astarion tries to turn you into a Vampire Spawn, Lae'zel outright just tries to kill you, and Wyll/Shadowhearts betrayal type hasn't been shown yet in either the game or datamining, although Wyll will simply attack you if you side with the Goblins.
So it's an alignment system with extra steps.

There are no alignments in D&D now, that's why this game doesn't have them. Spells like Protection From Evil are now Protection From Evil & Good and specifically protect from Celestials, Elementals, Undead, Fey, and Demons, basically anything supernatural. Regular humanoids do not have alignments.
False, everything still has alignments in 5e. It just has greatly diminished mechanical effect on gameplay. There are, however, still certain situations where alignment does in fact matter. Descent into Avernus adventure module comes to mind.

Up in the air right now, Larian claimed your custom character will be relevant this time, but a lot of the story beats center around the Origin companions. Shadowheart in particular is ridiculously important, the macguffin she's carrying around is a key part of the story. You can just kill her and it bonds to you instead, though. We'll have to see full release to really judge whether or not Larian followed through on their promise or if Origin companions are once again woven into the story far better than any custom character is.
